  1. Didn't see any of the boxing at the Olympics but reading the results. It looked the Uzbeks took total control in the mens. They won heavyweight and super heavyweight golds. Both fighters are pros already and undefeated.

They won flyweight gold. Hasanboy Dusmatov won light flyweight gold at Rio in 2016, retired for Tokyo then came back from Paris in the next weight category and won again.

I think the most impressive was Abdumalik Khalokov at Featherweight. He won gold without dropping any points to his opponents throughout the tournament. I think Bakhodir Jalolov did the same at Super Heavyweight. He's 16-0 as a pro and all through stoppages.

really feels like England are playing with 10 men whenever Kane is on the pitch though.  The tactics just don’t suit his style of play.  In 3 hours of play between the finals of euro 2020 and 2024 he touched the ball once in the opponents box.

We also have Declan sideways, backwards pass Rice. He doesn't play like that for Arsenal, so I don't get why he's so shit for England.

They are, as well. Had to get some new keys cut recently, and when I tried them on the door, turned out the bloke had only used the wrong blank.

    That sounds like cobblers.

What’s going on? Has he retired?

It's his last Wimbledon. He was supposed to play in Singles but his body wasn't up to it.

He then played Doubles with his brother Jamie, but lost in the first round. They did the interview with Sue Barker after this match.

Next, he is doing Mixed Doubles with Emma Raducanu - that's tonight on Court 1.

Their national soft drink, Kinnie, was one of my favourite discoveries there. They briefly released it here, but it didn't do very well.

That stuff is fucking rank. They had it in the dispensers when I went to Malta last year. I tried it in a glass after I had drunk a beer in it. Thought the beer had tainted the flavour. Tried it in a fresh glass. Nope, just as shit. Like the most bitterest ginger beer with a fruity tang. No wonder it hasn't caught on.

    North by Northwest (cinema!)

Still obviously one of the greatest movies ever made. And one of the funniest too.

Always cracks me up when he escapes from his captors and he's in the phone box talking to his mum.

No. No, Mother, I have not been drinking. No. No. These two men, they poured a whole bottle of bourbon into me............... No, they didn't give me a chaser!

Have done some quick reading on a few Q&A sites. Seems the general wisdom on it is that Youtube will block playback of videos after a certain number of times, but they've decided against banning accounts that do that, as it would create a huge backlash, and be quite damaging to the number of users on there.

There's usually a forthcoming update from AdBlockPlus which will get round it.  That's been the case for the past 10 years or so.

they replied saying (and I quote in full) "Driver will be spoken to".

That sounds like DPD. When their drivers fail to collect our customers parcels. I've spoken to our local depot, their response is that stock answer. I did have one the other day, where a customer had a collection and delivery of parcels booked for the same day from their address. You would expect them to collect the one parcel and deliver the other parcel at the same time. Whatever numptie booked their route.  They went at 10am to collect the parcel, couldn't work out how to use the intercom for the flat, so just put the status as nothing to collect. And took a photo of the intercom to prove they had been. Went back at 11am to deliver the parcel. Still couldn't work out how to use the intercom so again put the delivery as failed. And then rerouted the parcel to be collected from a newsagents 20 minutes away. Poor woman was visually impaired so couldn't do that.

I posted a whole back about getting accessible tickets at Manchester Academy for Frank Turner, and how the venues had few provisions for accessibility. The example being at Bowling For Soup / Less Than Jake their family members were “Up in the balcony” which is the accessible tickets space so disabled people had to make way. Well I managed to get tickets for the Dropkick Murphys and the woman who helped was brilliant.

I think the situation you found with the Frank Turner tickets was pretty much widespread for everyone, judging by the comments on his Instagram posts. Standard tickets were selling out within minutes. For some reason he's decided to do a tour of smaller venues. He's publicly said Nottingham Rock City was his favourite venue in the UK, and he's sold out there many times before. But he's playing The Rescue Rooms next door which holds 500 people. If he was playing Manchester Academy 1, you would probably had better luck with accessibility tickets. But as he's playing the smaller Academy 2, they obviously don't have as much in place to accommodate.

Glad you got tickets for Dropkick Murphys.

  10. I didn't really get the Apprentice this year, it seemed they just made it up as they went along. I thought Sugar was investing 250k into your business. When it got down to the end, he now wants 50% of their businesses.

Paul the dentist was the best all rounder I thought, and Sugar wanted 50% of all of his businesses not just the new dentist practise he wanted to set up. He isn't going to accept that, glad he didn't.

Phil the pie man's business had 700k in the bank, so I don't understand why he needed more investment when he's got good cash flow. And from the companies website, it looked like a family business so he wasn't sole owner.

Flo and Tre were both really good, it's just their business proposals weren't very good.

It was a bit anticlimactic having Phil and the gym woman in the final. They were only appealing because their businesses were set up and making money. I think the best two candidates were Paul and Flo.

  11. Does anyone use Vinyl Me Please? It's a US vinyl subscription service where they (re)release a couple of vinyls every month, from different genres. You can just buy them as and when too. Usually in limited numbers and in different colours. I've picked up a few from eBay from UK sellers. Aretha Franklins, Never Loved A Man, The Way I Love You & Spirit In The Dark. Both sound absolutely amazing.  They've been cut and remastered off analogy tape by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound. Don't know who he is and where it is, but he has magic fingers.

They come in hard card vinyl sleeves with OBI strips and sometimes a little notebook with listener notes. So it's more of a collectors item.

I think their genres they now release. Are VMP Essentials, Classics, Rap & Hip-hop, Country, Rock.

I normally search on eBay for VMP - as looking up Vinyl Me Please. A lot of the sold out records, have buy it nows for inflated prices.

Fuck me if Masters of the Air didn’t feature the all time greatest flag shagging moment in the final episode. Really enjoyed the series that managed to blow a huge budget on some brilliant aerial shots whilst having absolutely shocking green screen spattered throughout. As good as Callum Turner and the chap who played Rosie were you gotta hand it to Elvis who just looks like an absolute mega star every time he’s on screen. The living embodiment of an aftershave advert. I look forward to trying to guess where I’ve seen the other 90% of the actors before in the years to come.

Enjoyed Masters Of Air for what it was. But the character development was dreadful. It was comedic at times, the way people would pop up and then disappear again.

    Spoiler

The young lad who was saved by the French Resistance and somehow got helped back to England. His story featured in a whole episode. Then nothing. Then the following episode in a 10 second clip. He rolls back onto base on a bicycle and then he gets sent home. They never finished what was happening with Harry Crosby and Subbleton Westgate. It also seemed strange they introduced a bunch of new characters in the penultimate episode, from a different airborne division. They all got the "what happened next" treatment in the final credits. But the commanders at the base, they didn't. They all seem to disappear towards the end.

  13. I thought the BBBoC would have buckled, glad to see they won their case.

Benn could have just admitted what he's done (twice) and moved on. He would have been back over here fighting by now. But the twat would rather fight spuds in old dance halls in the middle of nowhere in America.

Just got back from seeing The Hives on the first night of their current tour after a four-month break. I was expecting pretty much the same 15-song setlist that they've been doing for the last year or so, but they've added about half a dozen extra songs from their back catalogue. We got a few songs that haven't been played for 6 or 7 years, and one from the latest album that's never been played live before. It was strange to look at the crowd and realise that I first saw The Hives in about 2001 when I was a youngster, and now 20-odd years later there's loads of kids the same age as I was back then going mental to those same songs which are still being performed with as much energy and enthusiasm as they were back then. Absolute joy, ridiculously good fun, a truly ten out of ten evening.

I was reading they have set up a thing called Franc"hives". Where they personally support Hives tributes bands. Because all their gigs are sold out. They put on shows with tribute bands at reduced costs, so fans can see the next best thing.

  15. Any reason why Buatsi is only now winning British and Commonwealth titles? I always compare him to Lawrence Okolie, as they went to 2016 Olympics and turned pro at the same time. Adjoining weight divisions as well. Okolie has already won, a world title, defended it a few times and lost it. It doesn't look like Buatsi has any extended layoffs in his career and his opponents looked decent but nothing amazing. Is he being held back for one reason or another?

The pull cord in my bathroom is broken. It won't double click, so if you pull it, it will click "on" but not a double click when it goes "back up" simple wiring job a sparky mate says.

My landlord said "Clearly you're pulling it too hard (bit personal) as we've never heard of this issue before"

I don't even know what to say to that.

Cost about £5 from Screwfix and take about 15 minutes to fit. Did ours the other week when our 18 monther got hold of it, and it got stuck on.

I had a lovely time at the Majestic in King's Lynn some years back. As with many of these, an old converted theatre, quite small inside, with a bar on each of its 3 levels.

I contemplated cropping out the guy smashing a pasty into his face but it was too UKFF to remove.

Fairly local to me and went many times in my youth. Still only £5 a ticket. They recently refurbed the seating.

Yep. Day beds in the front row.

  18. That's the levels in boxing.

Bam landed 60% of his power punches going into the final round. A Rodriguez jab was more powerful than Sunny's best hook. Sunny threw a vicious 1/2 when Bam was goading him with his tongue out. Didn't even leave a scratch.

Sunny's boxing IQ was outmatched by Bam's speed, power and 7" reach advantage. Great action packed and skilful fight.

  19. Good to see Jordan Gill get the win against Michael Conlan last night. At 130lbs he looked a totally different fighter. Conlan's punch resistance looks like it has gone now.

After Kiko Martinez steamrolled over Gill last time, I think people thought he was done and would be a safe opponent for Conlan as he doesn't punch very hard.

But those extra pounds added a steam to his punches. Conlan down from a crunching left in the 2nd. His legs never really recovered but he had some success in the 6th with a flurry of uppercuts. Gill put more pressure on in the 7th. After a stream of shots in the corner and no fight back, referee waved it off.

The stoppage may have looked premature but Eddie Hearn said Jamie Conlan was in the corner with the towel ready to throw it in. And noone complained. I think they knew, how hurt he was and didn't want him to take any unnecessary punishment.
