I turned 40 two years ago. After a messy split I decided to do the one thing Iāve wanted to do for years. So on the eve of my 40th, literally the day before, I did my CBT. 4 days later I rode out of the showroom on the actual bike I did the training on , as it had been traded in by the bike school. This week I completed my theory and am awaiting dates for my direct access to get my full license. So my 40th started with a proper midlife crisis š¤£
and recently Iāve noticed Iāve been going for sweatshirts and smarter jumpers instead of hoodies too. š¤

Iāve always said that this tune is incredibly close to the one Ken Shamrock used in the WWF...Iām assuming it was the inspiration behind it,Ā great track tbf.Ā

Re-watching Mania 30. The beginning with Hogan, Rock and Austin was amazing as it should be. What pissed me off though was Jerry Lawler shouting ā special moment..special momentā. Yeah we get it Jerry, it WAS special. But TELLING us that takes us out of the moment and ruins it a bit. Stupid micromanaged bullshit. The fact they feel the need to force these moments on the audience (fuck the Universe catchphrase too), shows that they just canāt allow organic moments to happen. Itās just too polished now.Ā

Poor Owen never stood a chance to protect himself on any of those landings. Wonder if Ahmed got some heat backstage for those.Ā
ĀIs anyone else fed up of the ā realā aspect of wrestling these days? I watched the clip on the AEW thread of Dustin Rhodes, and whilst he is indeed on of the all-time greats, Iām fed up with wrestlers talking about what it means to them, how they were big fans, itās their dream etc.Ā
Ā I long for the days of massive tanned guys, crazy bright outfits, gimmick names, rambling promos, short matches to build to something meaningful....I was watching Rumble 94Ā with my boys last night and I quoted ,word-for-word, The promo The Undertaker did after his casket match. 26 years on it still stays with me. Apart from select moments from this years rumble, I couldnāt quote anything recent. Everything is so samey, not much stands out.Ā -
Kinda....Iāve put on about a stone, which Iām not overly happy about although Iāve started eating healthier and exercising way more. As my hair was growing and I couldnāt get to a barber, Iām putĀ Ā some dye through it as iād gone greyĀ anyway and didnāt want to end up like Brian May....

@bonoĀ Ā itās one thing to say that streets/towns/schools all have multicultural communities. THATāS not being debated. Itās the fact that the non-whites are constantly persecuted based ENTIRELY on their skin colour or race. Itās the FEAR they have on a daily basis that they will be singled out. That story about the bus driver earlier in the thread, think a white guy would have been spoken to that way? Of course not. Using race as a way of describing someone on having a go is the whole point of this problem.Ā
ĀI spent last night with my mate, catching up since itās been a while. Socially distanced of course, sitting in his garden. Heās a black American from Kansas City. His kids are mixed as his wife is white Scottish. At NO POINT was colour a problem. Sure we obviously discussed the ongoing problems , but Iām 100% his mate. Always have been. But itās the fear that they will be persecuted for merely having different skin thatās driving these marches and protests. Look at the videos of cops pulling them over because they ā fit the descriptionā....a black guy driving a car? That my friend is racism. If it were a white guy driving, the cop would have way more details given to work with. And THAT is the problem. Non-whites live in fear daily....so is THAT equality?Ā

I live in Aberdeen. So a return flight, accommodation, tickets, food etc are more desirable to you than just simply opening a book from my local library or searching online? Is this some ā I was thereā elitism that is on show? That because Iāll possibly never go to some of these places means Iām less than you, or less qualified to comment basedĀ on my proximity to a physical representation of something? Utter garbage pal. I used to go to Transport museums in Glasgow when I was younger, but that doesnāt make me more of an expert than someone who has studied the same interest through other means.Ā
Seems youāre trying to talk down to us for youāre own betterment, which is just sad.Ā -
Possibly was. I actually thought all shows were taped in advance recently. Didnāt realise there was a live one in there too.Ā

IĀ thought that after Charly fluffed that closing line to Raw after that face to face interview thing, they just decided to run with it. She said it so awkwardly that it canāt have been what she was meant to say.Ā
I canāt say I noticed her fluff it, but surely with Raw being taped they could have re-done that bitĀ anyway and if that wasnāt their intention then weād be none the wiser....

Anyone else find Krossās entrance cringeyĀ more than intimidating? The stare into the ring, Scarlett mouthing the words, it just doesnāt seem convincing to me. Feels like they are trying too hard. Whereas Dexter Lumis is creepy as fook. He had a great dead-eyed stareĀ in TNA and I like the way he plays it. And this is coming from someone who loves the Undertakerās entrances!Ā

I detest the trippy ā alien stoned shootyā sequence in GTA V that you have to do with Michael. The constant having to turn around and focus, the shitty commentary by Michael, the fact it goes on for ages....the game is phenomenal apart from that. But that missing boils my piss.Ā

Earl Hebner was pretty terrible. I didnāt realise at the time but watch it back and heās distractingly rubbish a lot of the time.
This. He was always the big ref for big matches, but watching his stuff nowadays, his little things were garbage. The sloooow cadence of the count when a match was finishing, which was utterly different to the rest of the match, his ā sliding ā his counting hand into the shoulder of the offensive wrestler when registering a 2-count, his constant getting in their faces. I think it was BomberPat that said that a great referee blends in and is unnoticeable until needed. Nick Patrick was other one, he lay on his side and rolled ontoĀ his back onĀ a 2 which was always a giveaway.Ā

When a guy takes a pin fall without any struggling to kick out, as if out of it, then springs up like nothing happened.watching TLC ā11 and Big Show has just taken a DDT onto chairs from Menry....2 mins later Daniel Bryan comes in, covers Show who is not moving an inch, and on the 3 he immediately springsĀ Ā up to his knees And stares at D-Bry whilst holding his hand. Not once looking groggy from the chair-assisted DDT. A little bit of selling doesnāt hurt.Ā

Anything that involves landing on the apron/edge of the ring. Having wrestled for years, they arenāt joking when they say that itās got little to no padding. That power bomb that Owens does to the edge of the ring has so little room for error. At Double Or Nothing, MJF took something, a reverse Rana or DDT ( canāt remember ) and sold it like he was dead, but STILL got up and won the match. If youāre being slammed into something as hard as that , it should be a match ender. But thatās indicative of wrestling as a whole. Too many massive moves and spots that just lead into the next bigger and higher risk move.....

The Underbaker.... notorious for always undercooking cakes, resulting in many a soggy bottom....
Foldberg....clinical when itĀ comes to putting a neat seam in a pair of dress slacks.Ā
Cocozuna.....the former B Ware puts on 400lbs and eats Frankie....Adam Hole....his love for himself finally results in him disappearing up his own arse.Ā
-
Didn't Bret say heād kept a tape recorder and notes with him all through his career, so thatās how he documented so much? True or not, his stories are great. Itās a real easy book to get through. The pics are brilliant too.Ā

Two things for me.....the way guys take a move and conveniently shuffle into the position to take the next move, like when they fall off the ropes sideways and just happen to land right where they need. As said above, at least RVD madeĀ it look like he improvised once he got up top.Ā
Āthe second is the blatant waiting for spots. I really noticed it with MITB during the 4-way tag. There were points where the guys were looking up at their opponents and visibly waiting for them to jump. We all know itās planned etc, but they could at least try to hide that fact. Sometimes itās too blatant what they are up to.Ā

I actually enjoyed it. The opener was fast paced, if a little rough in bits. Braun and Bray worked hard and told a decent story with room for The Fiend to appear and step things up a bit in the next stage of the feud. Drew and Seth were good. Worked well together, Claymore is well over as a proper finisher, although the unusual handshake at the end was a bit jarring considering the beatings they have given Drew recently.Ā
TheĀ MITB Match was pretty entertaining. Some fun cameos, glad Otis and Asuka won, although I did wonder where half the women suddenly disappeared to near the end. AJ does nothing for me. Really doesnāt. Maybe itās his āsoccer momā haircut, or Bee Gees beard, but for me all he is is a physically talented guy. His personality, heel or face, is arrogant and hard to buy into.Ā
Āand the run time of the show š. Those 2 1/2 hours flew by. Makes a welcome change to the marathons we are used to getting.Ā

I thought that comment meant he was distracting the fans from the ring techs rearranging the ring boards so the bump could go ahead as planned. Surely there were a couple guys under the ring moving stuff around once the cell got busted and they went out. The cell panel itself could easily have been held together with zip ties as there would have been no weight on it until Foley hit it on his bump.Ā

Same here. Just so playable. Only thing iād add is being able to actually pin someone having a refĀ in ring. Looking forward to this Retrofest game coming out. Hopefully itāll recapture my days on holiday playing the original Wrestlefest non stop.Ā

My son and I have been discussing this. We both reckon a new version of All Stars would be great. Imagine hitting a Claymore that sends the opponent damn near into space, similar to Injustice. Hitting a Spear that sends them into the ropes and back into another spear , a stomp that starts in the rafters, a styles clash similar to the spinning perfectplex....wrestling has always been big, colourful, OTT characters and the game should reflect it. The ability to add freckles and wrinkles means the developers have spent so long fucking about with little touches that they failed to make games enjoyable for years as a result. Take it back to basics, make it bold and colourful with massive caricatures, simpler controls and itāll sell bucketloads.......*

Would that be the ONE AND ONLY brain cell? š
I Ā watched Ricochet Vs Dream 3 nights in a row. Itās outstanding. Heās got that cool controlled charisma. And move that mean something at the right time. Not just flips for the sake of it. Heās a good mat wrestlerĀ too which makes his high flying stand out more.Ā
Neville was a great character afterĀ Ā he started his King Of Cruiserweight gimmickĀ , but heās always been incredible to watch.
BalorĀ on the the other hand bores me rigid. His entrance is shit. Whatās with pulling at his leather jacket? Does that make you cool? His incessant smiling, that shitty switchblade move and I hate foot stomps. So Iām not in the least interested in him.Ā Ā

I read from PWIInsider that his NXT contract was 30 days no-compete. And when he moved up to the main roster they never noticed and the clause continued soĀ with him being canned on June 2/3 it meant he could show up last night with no hassles. Glad he did. Segment was great. Just hope itās one match with Cody and no win-trading.Ā
