  1. Go to the "people" section of that Panda Energy site and you'll see a pic of Bob Carter - he's the main man at Panda, so officially the buck stops at him. He makes the very odd apperance, prefering to let his daughter Dixie run the promotion. He must love his daughter very much because he lets her waste millions of dollars every year playing around with TNA.

Dixie is therefore the person in charge - which tecnically makes her the promoter... although "promotion" doesn't really come into it, since they run free shows in the same venue for the same fans every week. Dixie is the person who negotiates the deals and would be responsible for the Spike TV deal. She's also happy to stand up to Jeff Jarrett when required, so she's cool in my book.

Does anyone have a picture of Dixie Carter? I've tried searching before, but I've had no luck. She's not mentioned in the "people" section of the Panda site.

  2. This one is for the Toryumon / Dragon Gate fans and has been bugging me for ages. Genki Horiguchi has 'Who has called me HAGE' on his T-shirt and the fans chant H.A.G.E. at him. What does H.A.G.E. stand for and what is the explantion for it?Cheers

Hage means bald or balding. With Genki's hairline receeding, the fans took to chanting Hage at him - to which Genki would respond with his kind of catchphrase "Who has called me Hage?!"
  3. Kenta Kobashi Vs Genichiro Tenryu

They could have met in Kobashi's rookie years from 1988 to early 1990, but I don't belive such a singles match excist on tape. I do have the following tag matches where they meat:July 15, 1989 - Genichiro Tenryu & Stan Hansen -vs- Jumbo Tsuruta & Kenta Kobashi [*** 1/2]August 19, 1989 - Jumbo Tsuruta & Kenta Kobashi -vs- Genichiro Tenryu & Yoshinari Ogawa [** 3/4]October 14, 1989 - Genichiro Tenryu & Toshiaki Kawada & Samson Fuyuki -vs- Jumbo Tsuruta & Great Kabuki & Kenta Kobashi [*** 3/4]
They also met in a tag match in NOAH earlier this year. April 24th Budokan show had Tenryu teaming with Jun Akiyama to face Kenta Kobashi & Go Shiosaki.I'd practically guarantee they'll do a Kobashi vs Tenryu match at some point in NOAH. There's money in the match and they'd be daft not to do it.
  4. Where can i buy OVW TV tapings from? not from ovwrestling.com.

Outcast Video.Just yesterday they got in the TV tapes from February 2005 to June 2005. I've got mine ordered... why haven't you?
Is OVW only avaliable on VHS or is it on DVD aswell???
Email them and ask - if they can do it on DVD for you, they probably will.
  5. Quick question: What's the name of Maven's theme music and who's it by? Cheers.

I thought it was:"All around the stars " by Honshal
And also has the same background music as "Memory" by Mercy Drive, but just different lyrics. I don't really understand why they did that! (Adding new voices and lyrics over another songs backing!).
I was always under the impression that Maven's music was by a band called Big Mother Thruster.
Ah, ignore me. After consulting MackemMan's site - it's "Memory" by Mercy Drive.

  8. In Lancashire style, as soon as either man goes to his back, the get stood up.

    Unless they're in a hold.

if intention is going to be an issue for you, do German suplex double pins bother you?

Somewhat, yeah - though they don't particuarly irritate me.The thing with the Romero special is that it's a hella cool move that's being ruined because referees have started to count down shoulders all of a sudden, thereby forcing the person applying the move to have to break the hold or risk being pinned. With this apparent shift in refereeing, what's the point of even using the move any more? For two seconds of pain? Heck, Tajiri can hold the Tarantula for a count of four before DQ and it's an entirely illegal hold.
  9. Big masked guy. Should have mentioned that. Looked pretty generic as I recall just tights and plain black mask.

Is this the guy?2000015t001.jpgHe was billed as The Machine. It was probably Emory Hale under the mask.He fought DDP on the Feb 2nd 2000 edition of Thunder, but according to the reports, he lost via Diamond Cutter in 3:59 and was never heard of again.
  10. Upside down surfboard - you know, when the person doing the move is on ther back and is holding their opponent in the air by all four extremities.Words fail on how much it irritates me when a referee starts counting down the shoulders of the man doing the move.

Do you know, I thought I was the only one that got pissed off by that. In what sense is that a cover?
Well, their shoulders are down, and their opponent's on top of them.
A pinfall attempt should involve a wrestler attempting to hold his opponent's shoulders to the mat.The recipient of a Rita Romero Special is not making an attempt at pinning his opponent in any way, therefore I do not believe the referee should be counting a pinfall.

Is it possible to bridge someone down into a pin from a Mex Surfboard without the hold falling apart?

Yeah, the person doing the hold has to roll backwards a bit so that the recipient's head and shoulders are touching the mat. It requires some dexterity.

Sorry if i'm a little vague. I'm pretty sure this was in the period of time between Russo getting his matching orders in the January and coming back in April.

If you're right, it must have been a Kevin Sullivan idea that they nixed when Russo came back to power. I have no idea, but can you describe the wrestler physically?

  12. I was just watching the beginning of Wrestlemania 11 last night and near the beginning it showed you all the celebrities who sung the national anthem at previous Wrestlemanias. One of them looked scarily like Gladys Knight, who I am a fan of <backs off>, was I right in thinking that and if she did sing at WM what WM was it?Thank you.

    WrestleMania IV, brah
  13. I'd guess all the Mexicans/cruiserweights who signed recently won't debut properly until the SuperAstros show launches again towards the end of the year.

Jeebus...Why do people STILL think there's a relaunch of SuperAstros? Everyone jumped to that conclusion when the new TV deal called for an hour of TV for Spanish language channel Telemundo... but Meltzer has since confirmed that all it will be is a condensed spanish language broadcast of Raw.
  14. I was just about to order a ticket to the June 12th Ring Of Honor afternoon show in NYC, but something confused me.They are selling "2nd row reserved seats", "3rd row reserved seats" and "Front row gallery reserved seats".Is that your normal everyday front row seat or is the gallery part meaning something totally different?

Front row gallery sounds like the front row of a balcony or raised area rather than ringside. Also, regarding the Kevin Kelly question. He left the business a year or so ago, didn't he? I seem to remember he posted a big "goodbye and good riddance" type thing for one of the main news sites (1wrestling, I think?)Has he returned to the business again?
  15. Have any WWE films been released yet?

The Rock's films (Scorpion King, The Rundown/Welcome To The Jungle and Walking Tall) were all credited as "in association with WWE Films".Obviously that's just a tip of the hat to the fact that Rock was a contracted WWE performer at that time (as is the fact that Vince McMahon is credited as Executive Producer), but I thought it was worth mentioning - just to be anal.
  16. Who was the first WWF wrestler to have entrance music that was an actual song by an actual band rather than "stock" music? Also, what was the first PPV to have a real theme song? WM17?

Hulk Hogan used "Eye Of The Tiger" by Survivor before stealing "Real American" from the team of Windham & Rotunda.
  17. I think most people now believe that it was a work that became real. The fact that Booker T was winning the World Title at Bash At The Beach 2000 was known to all parties beforehand, so they obviously had decided to cook something "controversial" up - and the Jarrett "laying down" spot and subsequent Russo interview was almost certainly part of the agreed script. The problem came in that Russo went way beyond the agreed script and humiliated Hogan... at which point he stormed off to have a bit of a cry and call his lawyers. There is legit heat between the two parties over the incident and the subsequent lawsuit was real (if entirely frivolous). It would be interesting to get the two men in the same room again now, however (especially with Russo having recently found God) just to see how they would deal with each other.
