Our contracts are near pointless. When I was working overseas I pointed out that the contract made it impossible for them to release me for my performance or lack thereof and they said they knew and it's a problem in all the contracts they write.

I’d love a contract like that.

My new work laptop, which I’m getting because of my manager’s lies, is almost ready. Today, the head of my department messaged me and asked if I can go to the office for it or whether I need someone to get it for me (which I’m hearing second-hand means she’d be getting it for me) and deliver it to me at home.

Now, my manager and another colleague are saying I’ve got to go and get it because initial logon on a new device has to be done on the company’s wired network or something. And I’d feel bad putting another staff member out having to drive to the Black Country just to deliver it to me. But I also don’t fancy a three hour round trip on public transport at the moment, and the staff member dropping the laptop to me would be doing so in their own car.

Also, my office is open as of yesterday and they’re doing the alternate Team A/Team B thing for access, but they haven’t yet told us which one is allowed in on which days. So I don’t even know when I can go and get it.

I'm not a fan of Nia Jax at all and think she should've been potted ages ago but don't really see how that's all her fault, surely Sane is more at fault for not getting her hands up?

There are thousands of wrestling fans with anime profile pictures on Twitter. Nothing is ever going to be Kairi Sane’s fault, especially when the alternative culprit for her latest injury is an Internet Naughty like Nia Jax or Charlotte Flair. At least this time dey aren’t writing deir own fapfiction about Kairi screaming for real life help before the bump. 😂

Both wrestlers are shite. The worst part is when Nia Jax talks. Her voice gives me terrible anxiety.

Overall, Raw just comes off very flat and unexciting. No momentum to anything. Most of it isn’t terrible, but it’s nowhere near must see. That said, I do consider Edge vs Orton at Backlash a must-see match because of the ridiculous billing. I know I’m setting myself up for a letdown, but I’m really hoping for something mad to happen.

Everything involving Zelina Vega’s group feels like filler content to me. They’re all great, but they’ve been all over Raw since WrestleMania. Apollo Crews hasn’t shaken off the last four years for me either, so feuding with him only solidifies Andrade and Garza as filler in my eyes. And Kevin Owens getting involved lowers his stock greatly to me. The last few weeks with them have all felt fairly logical, just so bland.

I’m quite enjoying the McIntyre vs Lashley rivalry. Two beasts that should have a belter of a hoss fight. I’m not into the MVP/Lana drama though.

I am really liking the Iiconics return. Her match on this show made me think Billie Kay would’ve been great for the divas era.

The highlight of the night for me was Asuka singing her entrance music as she walked away from her interview. Edge & Christian playing wrestler themes on the kazoo at the birthday party is one of my fondest memories of wrestling, and Asuka singing her theme tickled me the same way.

  3. In a video call team meeting the other day, my manager was complaining that when she went to Stratford last weekend, there were loads of people around just having a day out - which is exactly what she was doing.

I’ve got friends who have been visiting relatives, having BBQs, etc for ages. I know one girl who ended a long-term relationship during lockdown, and she’s had loads of people at hers since then off dating/social sites, because she isn’t used to/doesn’t like her own company. Ultimately, I’ve spoken to a lot of people who just don’t want to be seen as breaking lockdown. It’s very similar to people who don’t drink drive because they don’t want to get stopped rather than because they might kill someone. And definitely since VE Day, loads of people I know have basically decided the danger is over and they’ve just been waiting for some green light to get back to normal.

But then, I’ve been staying in just because the lockdown has meant I don’t have to go out. If I had more energy, or lived closer to my pals, I don’t know if I’d have been such a goodboi.

I wanted to turn off after the first segment. Great, let’s do what we did with Hawk and bring their real life troubles in as a story line.

Hawk is an odd example to use there, when there are way more recent examples - the most obvious being Jeff Hardy himself. At Survivor Series the one year when he was replaced by Edge in a triple threat, they hinted that he’d passed out on a staircase somewhere. His feud with CM Punk when he left in 2009 was about him being a junkie, and Samoa Joe was using it as taunt material against Jeff last year. Jeff being a fuck-up has been part of his character more or less since he came back to WWE in 2006.

Cody’s promo was far from his best, but even if the rest of it had been the same, did he really need to throw in the “I won’t be welcome in Connecticut” line?

To be fair, it had been four whole days since he’d shared the ring with a WWE Hall of Famer. He was probably worried we’d forget he’s obsessed with WWE. And a line in a promo is a lot cheaper than building HHH-style sets and props, and does exactly the same job.

  6. Nah, Corny enjoys JR’s barely-concealed distaste for much of AEW’s content. It’s affirming for him, like a laugh track on an old sitcom. And it seems a safe bet that it’ll continue.

It’ll be one of the wrestlers he’s a fan of - I reckon there’s a good chance it’ll be the Revival, the more they work with the Young Bucks. At some point, Cody or MJF will do something with Orange Cassidy that upsets Cornette, but it’ll probably be a one off. Bucks vs FTR is a long term feud, so it’ll give new stuff for him to cry about every week.

Undertaker is interviewed on Pete Rosentwat's show today. I'm just sitting here thinking, it's alright to break character mate, but dont take the piss. He's never shut his gob for months. He's like the new Honky Tonk Man.

I saw a clip on YouTube yesterday where a couple of lads were interviewing him about whether he likes memes of himself.

Anyone give The First Team a look last night?

It's certainly no Inbetweeners, but if my crush on Tamla Kari can get me through The Musketeers, I'm sure it'll get me through a show involving football.

I just watched a bit of it there now. If I hadn't been told, there's no way I'd have guessed the writers of The Inbetweeners were behind this shite.

Yeah, she hit the headlines a couple of years ago:-

I'm assuming the crowdfunding didn't hit if she's still there.

That stuff from August was the most recent thing I've seen that involved her directly. I did look at the crowdfunding page - it was way below target, and there were comments on there suggesting that it was a scam anyway.

  10. Depending on how long and how often Tyson’s around, there’s a possibility that they’ll book him to force himself on Swagger’s wife for a laugh. Unless they realise that sort of thing isn’t on, but if they realise it’s inappropriate to do with an actual rapist, you’d think they’d get that they shouldn’t be doing it at all.

I don’t see Tyson as an attitude era guy, because he wasn’t. He had one program during the attitude era but the bloke is a boxer and mainstream star. He is probably more well known by the general public for his bit in The Hangover than his bit with Austin.

    😂😂😂😂😂

They didn’t recreate his scenes from The Hangover though, did they? The Inner Circle didn’t bring him a tiger. They recreated his encounter with Austin from Raw 22 years ago, with the motivation for it being a scene he had with Jericho on Raw 10 years ago (which was itself a recreation of his KO of Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 22 years ago).

This is the funniest “Doesn’t look like anything to me” yet.

  12. Given the lack of main event heel challengers and his own limitations, Ambrose was always going to struggle to be in the most important storyline on the show. But fucking hell, he’s playing second fiddle to the latest amdram performance of Attitude Era Theatre. The ill-fitting build to the Cody vs Dustin match (“I’m going to defeat the attitude era”) last year seemed like it was at least there to signify moving away from the Praise Holy Tank Segment nostalgia wankery of WWE, but now it seems like it was just there due to an incessant need to reference the attitude era.

Ten years since Jericho and Tyson had a forgettable Raw moment that played on the attitude era bit. This is third-hand nostalgia shit, it ain’t the kind of thing AEW should be building main event angles on. That said, Y2J will probably make it funnier than anything the champion is doing.

Cody’s McDonalds belt, because it’s new and because of who holds it, is probably more prestigious and interesting than the world title at the moment.

Ambrose vs Cage is intriguing though, because (like Archer at the PPV) it seems very early to be beating Cage. I wouldn’t want to see Cage as the champion though, for completely unfair reasons - he proper reminds me of the late-WCW (and mid-2000s WWE) useless meatheads. I know he’s way better than them, but I can’t shake the notion every time I see him. I feel the same way about Karrion Kross in NXT as well, like he’s been picked up off the power plant production line and put in the “Bit of a Goth” packaging.

Off the top of my head, I can’t think of too many they could do for a third series.

Not putting the belt on Cesaro

    Cena vs Nexus

Bella Twins going in the Hall of Fame

    Hornswoggle winning the Cruiserweight title

    The push of Roman Reigns

    The DELETION of Roman Reigns

    Goldberg vs Bray Wyatt

The Saudi Arabia Hostage Crisis that absolutely wasn’t just made up by Dave Meltzer

    The Hardy Boyz being liabilities

The Usos trying to be the Hardy Boyz

CM Punk not getting to main event WrestleMania

    HHH’s reign of terror

TNA getting rid of the six-sided ring

Hulk Hogan stealing WrestleMania 9 from Bret

Lacey Turner telling Sammy Guevara he was doing rolls wrong at his WWE tryout

    Brock Lesnar: Part time Champion

    Paige and/or Del Rio

Charlotte Flair ending Asuka’s unbeaten streak

Hardcore Holly, JBL and Undertaker being bullies (but only if it’s not going to incriminate Benoit or the Japanese dojo lads)

    Jinder’s title win/reign
