  1. Why is Haye even getting involved? Feel sorry for Adam Booth, got glassed cause of Hayes behaviour.

Booth got twatted with the tripod that Haye launched. That caused his cut.

  2. Saul Alvarez vs Shane Mosley is in the works for April 21st.

I fancy Canelo to win that, Mosley will have been out a year by fight time and I really don't think he has another performance like he pulled against Margarito in him. That plus Alvarez is the baddest ginger Mexican on the planet and I don't like Mosley's chances.

Hardly the most insightful analysis this, but Mosley is finished. This will probably just be a final payday for him.

the geezer who said boxing isnt a sport a few posts up - i would like him to explain a sport to me....

I think it's easier to list the ways in which boxing is a sport than explain how it isn't, they're so innumerable but here's one; there are four main world sanctioning bodies and none of them are trustworthy or have a shred of credibility.

i read a thing in Boxing Monthly yesterday that says something like 'The WBO recognise 17 weight divisions, yet they have 35 world champions' or something similar, how the hell does that work!?!

Boxing has gone interim champion crazy. What started as an exercise to allow champions time to recuperate from injuries is now used when champions are healthy. When somebody signals they may move weights, they crown an interim champion. When somebody signals they may unify titles, they crown an interim champion. It's worse in the WBA where they have Super Champions, regular champions and interim champions.

As I said, no credibility at all.

The WBA are the worst for me, closely followed by the WBC. Out of the 17 weight classes, they have three 'champions' in six divisions, two 'champions' in 10 divisions, and Light-Heavyweight is the only one where they just have a single champion.

As another example, there are six official belt holders at Middleweight, yet not one of them belongs to THE Middleweight champion of the world, Sergio Martinez. No wonder boxing is down the shitter.

Personally I like the HBO way of thinking in not mentioning these various sanctioning bodies, simple referring to it as a 'title fight' if a belt is on the line and only using the term 'world champion' if they actually are.

  3. ITV1 has the documentry 'The Fight of Their Lives' showing this coming Monday (December 5th) at 10:35pm.

"Documentry about the 1995 world title fight between Nigel Benn and Gerald McClellan, which ended in such tragic circumstances that it has never been broadcast since."

I remember watching this fight at the time, and McClellan was on his way to becoming the king of the mountain in world boxing at the time (WBO and WBC Middleweight champion with a 31(29 KO)-2 record heading into the fight, After the fight concluded, the horrific scenes of him laying down in the corner with an oxygen mask played out. If I remember correctly he had surgery to remove a blood-clot after the fight, and the tabloids in the aftermatch called for boxing to banned, despite pulling a TV crowd of 17 million and a 10,000 plus live audience.

    Should be an interesting watch

There's an extended version of it on Tuesday 13th December at 9pm on ITV4. I think I'll wait for that version.

  4. Rios v John Murray goes ahead. The rehydration limit this morning was 147, and he came in at 146.6. Apparently he hasn't drank for 2 days according to the Boxing News editor, so now is certainly the time to whack some serious cash on Murray to pull off the upset tonight.

  5. Rios was a lb and a half over, even after the second weigh-in so has been stripped of his belt. They will check his weight this morning, then apparently it is up to Murray's camp this morning whether they decide the fight goes ahead or not. Could go either way really, golden opportunity now for Murray cos Rios looked like a corpse on those scales last night.

Good effort by Martin Murray last night, he just didn't quite do enough in my eyes. He used the old cliche of 'punches in bunches' but never really set down in to a continued, long assault. Sky's commentary was horrendous, Watt was moaning on about a robbery for a fight he had Murray winning by just 1 round! And he somehow scored the last one level, despite Sturm battering him for most of it, and nearly knocking him down at the end.

  6. Does anyone know what the situation is with Box Nation for Sky customers? My brother reckons he rang up Sky to keep the channel on and he was told you got to do it via the Box Nation website, but has emailed them and had nothing back at all. Cheers.

Click the 'Sky' link on this page and it takes you through to the ordering page. Payment is through PayWizard, which I think is a bit like paypal, onlyit means you can't cancel before the first 6 months are up.

  7. Watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly last night. It was my first foray into Western territory, and I thought it was fucking brilliant. The story was absolutely fantastic.

The version I watched was a re worked, extended version (just under 3 hours) but at no point was I checking the clock to see how long was left, it kept me relatively excited for the duration. The only slight distraction was that a lot of the sound had obviously been re dubbed from the original, probably due to the original film no being in the best of condition when they came to re work it. Eastwood himself actually re voiced bits an pieces for his character.

On the whole, I was well impressed with the style and presentation. I

  8. Derek Chisora fights Robert Helenious on the December 3rd, anyone know if boxnation are picking that shit up?

They are, its on the Povetkin v Boswell undercard which is a Sauerland show, and BN have a contract with them. Later that night they've got Cotto v Margarito as well, but it is the weekend after they encrypt, so you'll have to fork out for it.

  9. Has anyone else been watching American Horror Story?

It's starting here tomorrow night at 10pm on FX and it's well worth watching - very well acted and surprisingly scary for a TV show.

I had just come on here to ask if it was worth watching. Problem is my Sky planner is ridiculously low atm because I've got the current runs of Treme, Romanzo Criminale, Boardwalk and Blue Bloods that I haven't got round to watching yet. I've managed to keep up with the Six Feet Under rerun and The Walking Dead at least. Too much telly.

  10. Well, you could argue that now , albeit an interim title- Congrats to Rick Burns for a masterful display.

In sadder news, Joe Frazier is in a hospice with severe liver cancer. This is very sad. Have always preferred his story to Ali's for some reason, and enjoyed his fights immensely too. Try and track down him vs Oscar Bonavena. They are tremendous battles.

His book is a superb and honest read too (for the poster looking for boxing books to read) I think its just called Smokin' Joe.

I would also recommend Against the ropes by Geoffrey Beattie.

There is also a collection of short fictional stories about boxing, which I cannot remember the title of, but it had Million Dollar Baby in it, they are all superb.

    Sad news about Joe Frazier.

But I certainly don't count that interim bollocks as a 'world' title, especially when the WBO's belt-holder is a certain Juan Manuel Marquez  . There are enough of these shitty organisations ruining the sport as it is, let alone all their variants of it. Thankfully Boxnation and Burns didn't really go down the route of 'two-weight world champion' which would have been a bit awkward.

Don't let that take away from the win, mind. It was an excellent performance, and I am delighted for him.

  11. In case anyone's forgotten, one of Scotlands top fighters is looking to become a two-weight world champion tonight;

I like Burns as much as anyone, but you just can't call him a two-weight world champion.

  12. This looks like it is going to be great. I believe that it is getting its world premier in Philly this Saturday.

Joe Frazier: When the Smoke Clears

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beiQzigDW-k

That looks great. Although Ali always get's the plaudits, I always respected Frazier more for the way he dealt with Ali's racial treatment of him back in the day (a treatment that gets whitewashed today to be honest).

Some would say that karma is a real bitch though, as Frazier is still relatively healthy whilst Ali hasn't been for years.

Is Frazier still quite healthy? I saw that Thrilla in Manilla doc that was on More4 a few years back, and he didn't seem all that great. The whole situation with his gym seemed quite sad as well.

I am looking forward to that film nfc said about, the trailer looked really good last night.

  13. Box Nation on Saturday has 2 big fights on live with Cleverly vs Bellew at 7pm and Hopkins vs Dawson at 2am Sunday morning.

Also Prizefighter - Super Flyweights is on tonight at 8pm

    Lee Haskins

    Craig Lyon

    Mike Robinson

    Don Broadhurst

    Ryan Farrag

    Terry Broadbent

    Nathan Reeve

    Usman Ahmed

If you're not familiar with Usman Ahmed check this out

maybe the most hilarious knockout I've ever seen and after an entrance like that one of the most satisfying aswell

Not started watching Prizefighter yet, but I love a bit of Uzzy. Technically though, that knockout didn't come after that entrance. The entrance is from a Commonwealth title fight with Chris Edwards in Stoke where he basically just took punches for 12 rounds and somehow never went down. I was there, and there's a quick shot of me in the crowd in that vid. He got sparked out by Ashley Sexton a few months after that in a different fight, which is the KO.

  14. Fuck guilt as well. Denial is stronger. I fucked someone two weeks after getting married and I'm a fucking great guy.

Without turning this in to a 'Who has Keith fucked?' thread, have you ever rodgered Alicia Rhodes? As good as a common man imagines?

    TripleGay - he's in BritPorn

This might inspire me to do a BritPorn 50. Hmm.

    Do it.

  15. Just finished Luther series 1. Its so implausible and Americanised and it's nowhere near as clever as it thinks it is yet one thing makes me love it and that is the big man himself. Idris Elba is brilliant and how i've never noticed him till now is baffling when you consider how much stuff he's done. Other than The Wire what else is essential Elba? I seriously need to fuel this man crush I have.

Mr Danger I would try and watch series 2 of Luther as soon as you can. It goes even more silly in the second series but it's a lot of fun. He's going to be in Ghost Rider and the Alien prequel too soon.
I thought series 2 was odd in that each episode had two main stories-rather than a main and a sub one-going on at the same time, and I thought it suffered a bit for it. Plus there was nowhere near as much of my favourite television psycho murderer in it as there should have been...tumblr_lpe314YaSk1qcxpgi.jpgHow on earth Luther never fucked his dull ex-wife off and ragged the shit out of Alice Morgan I'll never know.
  16. Saturday 17/09/2011

11.00PM : Anthony Crolla vs Juan Montiel

    00.00AM : 24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz Episode 1

    00.30AM : 24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz Episode 2

    01.00AM : 24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz Episode 3

    01:30AM : 24/7 Mayweather/Ortiz Episode 4

Should help with the build-up to Mayweather/Ortiz. I'm looking foward to it.

what time do you think its likely that the Mayweather fight will be on? 5?

Standard rule of thumb for US PPV's is between 4.45 and 5.00. Only chance of it starting any earlier are all the undercard fights ending in early KO's, which happened on the Mosley v Mora PPV this weekend last year when the main event was just after 4.

  17. Yeah, good to see PrimeTime putting a fair bit of committment into saturdays card. It looks as though Golden Boy are giving them support also judging by the amount of content that PrimeTime have been showing so far and will of shown by the time the week is wrapped up, especially the 24/7 shows. Since the creation of 24/7 by HBO, excluding Mayweather Vs Ortiz (PT) and Jones Vs Calzaghe (Setanta), all of the fights which had an accompanying 24/7 mini-series have all been shown by Sky Sports, however, the last time they showed one of those 24/7 installments was (I believe) Hatton Vs. Pacquiao. Unsurprisingly, that was a Sky Box Office presentation and therein lies the explanation. Of all the following fights picked up by Sky, none of their 24/7 shows were broadcast ;

    Mayweather Vs Marquez

    Pacquiao Vs Cotto

    Mayweather VS Mosley

    Pacquiao Vs Margarito

Fairly sure about those, because I distinctivley remember having to watch them on Youtube, although I could be wrong on one of them. Anyway, I was disappointed when Sky didn't show them and was quite bewildered because they had used them in the past and to very good results, so I'm very glad that PrimeTime are doing a much as they can, especially with using 5USA to show them the night before, and no doubt they will be plugging the shit out of it on the Tyson Fury bill on Channel 5 earlier on saturday night.

Sky definitely showed the Pac v Margarito 24/7 in the 2 hours leading up to when the show started. I don't remember for sure, but I thought they had the Pac v Cotto one as well. To be honest, I always downloaded 24/7 anyway (And I very, very rarely download shows from the US) because Sky used to butcher them to fuck-understandably bleeping out the swearing, and cutting episodes down to about 23 or 24 minutes instead of the 29 they actually last.

As for Saturday's card-I think I'm looking forward to it, but not really sure. Mayweather dancing round his opponent for 12 rounds and not getting hit is enjoyable to watch and appreciate a while after the fight, but live at 5.30 in the morning is bloody boring. As for the undercard, Morales is now fighting some bloke who ain't Matthysse, which is a shame. The Alvarez fight should be good while it lasts, but could be very one-sided.

I can''t imagine there will be much scope in people's predictions for the fight, but what does everybody reckon? I'd be shocked if it's anything other than Mayweather by a wide, wide UD

  18. There's also a new channel which has popped up over the last few weeks, which is mostly free to watch, but I suspect that it is associated with PrimeTime, and serves to promote upcoming events. They've had an assortment of everything over the past 2 weeks that all seem to have connections with the fights which PrimeTime have been selling.

Tonight at 8pm, they are showing some kind of "Knockout special" which apparently features fights from 2007 alone, at 9pm they are showing Nathan Cleverly Vs Nadjib Mohammed.

Nothing too special, but it's free :D

    Channel 456 for Sky viewers.

Nah, it's nothing to do with Primetime, it's a Frank Warren channel. I presume it'll be used as an outlet for his PPV's now that Sky aren't intending to show any in the near future. Can't remember if it's been mentioned on here, but Mayweather v Ortiz will be on Primetime for

  19. In short, Indian's are bell ends.

I can't believe that Broad is playing in this match. In current form, he wouldn't get me out if I was batting with a rolled up newspaper. Bresnan is the man!

I see we've lost the toss, which is shit. It'll swing early doors today.

I guess today confirmed, if there was any doubt, that Broad is in the 'untouchable' category. If they haven't dropped him now, they won't.

  20. Have there been any recent rumours of oscar de la hoya wanting to face amir khan?

i ask because this has popped up on oscars twitter account tonight:

    OscarDeLaHoya Oscar De La Hoya

    Amir khan let's do it.

Isn't De La Hoya his promoter? Likely just talking about the Judah fight.

Looking back now, I presume that is about the proposed Mayweather fight for the back end of 2012.

  21. I'm watching Blue Bloods and really enjoying that too, though it was the WORST intro music ever.

I quite liked it at the start, thought it dipped in the middle but picked up near the end of the series. It does take itself ridiculously seriously though, and Tom Selleck seems to only speak in sentence-long moral messages but I can't really complain. Plus the women it, especially Bridget Moynahan are sooooooooooooo fine.

I've been watching a shitload of stuff on Sky atlantic-including finally watching The X-Files from the start, but I am really enjoying Six Feet Under. Sure there are episodes where absolutely nothing happens, but it seems to get just the right amount of drama, sadness and occasional laughs. I know Hawaii Five-0 is on Sky 1, but for an hour of wacky escapism cop drama a week it certainly does the job.

  22. Who does everyone think is next for David Haye hes got a few more years left in him yet surely. Would be a shame for him to retire so young

Bar Vitali, and possibly Adamek if he loses in September, there is nobody else to fight. And the world will hardly be clamouring for a Vitali fight after tonight.

  23. They are teaming together but keeping there solo gimmicks essentially (well cody has one). In almost a reverse from Legacy days Cody seems to be the leader

Flicking through Smackdown recently, and Cody Rhodes and Ted diBiase were back teaming together in a 6-man tag with Wade. Are they back as a full time tag team or was it just one of those random 6-man tags they do and the pair of them happened to be on the same team?

They're mates again, and Cody's taken Ted under his wing to turn his career around. Or so the commentators keep saying, and they refer to backstage bits between them as though we've seen them, but those haven't been on any Smackdown episodes I've been downloading.

    Thanks for that.
