Is there any talk of them reusing the hotel? Like, keep it as a hotel but a regular hotel with characters walking around, none of the weird choose your own adventure stuff and free access in to Galaxys Edge.

No, it wasn't built with any "proper" hotel facilities, e.g. a pool, and it's not in the sort of location you'd want to stay in as a regular hotel.  It's a warehouse in a car park with no windows.

The most plausible reuse scenario before it was written off was as a dinner show location.

    It's performance art, just astonishing.

I’ve seen a few posts similar to this. Is it real, who knows...

It's plausible depending on the country you choose to vote from as card micropayments is one verification method.  The easiest way has always been Eurovision fans trading televotes on forums.

The detailed results will be out shortly which give a better view of how close it was to picking up anything.

Not very.  In the jury vote the UK had 2x 11th places, which is the first non-point scoring position.  In the televote the UK had 2x 14th places, so not really a sniff of any televoting points.

How about UK getting 0 in the televote?! Were we the only ones who got a zero?

I'm pretty sure it was.  In the 4 Eurovisions this decade we've had 0 in televotes twice, single figures once, and Sam Ryder.  The detailed results will be out shortly which give a better view of how close it was to picking up anything.

A small group with a cause could make a big number.

We probably have one of the largest Jewish populations in Europe too...

Having a diaspora spread throughout Europe always helps with televotes.  For example, Lithuania and Poland have done well in the UK's televote in the past.

Everyone online seems fuming about it but then where did all the votes come from?

Standard view: they're very good at mobilising their televote around the globe.

Conspiracy view: they bot the televotes.

Switzerland to win the juries, Croatia to win the televote, with Finland doing well in both to take the overall crown and so that we get the Moomin interval act we all deserve next year.

Two out of three ain't bad.  Stunned that Olly beat my Windows95man.

  9. Rest of the World voting still hasn't opened (screenshot as of about 10 seconds ago).  The "family show" in the arena is this afternoon at 12:30 which is the final dry run for the Grand Final.  I'd imagine it would need to be resolved by then one way or the other as if they aren't allowed to perform in the family show then Joost won't have been involved in any of the Grand Final dress rehearsals.

Jemini got a three second shout out in the low scorer compilation!

Gigantic pop for that in my living room.

My daughter always picks the sad lads from Switzerland, which seems to have been a recurring theme of their entries the last few years, but she might be on to something this year as Nemo has grown on me massively.

How does it work? There’s another three sheds dotted around that have power so there’s a lot of electric cable on and around the property.

It transmits a network signal down electrical cable alongside the electricity.  One end plugs in near your router and a cable goes into that.  Another powerline adapter plugs in at the other end and devices in that location can connect via that.

However, there are limitations based on how everything is wired up  (from the electrical side).  I'd definitely recommend getting them from somewhere that does easy returns in case you hit a hiccup.

And would that then effect the quality of the internet in the house?

Only in the sense that you'll be adding additional devices to your network so if you're caning massive downloads simultaneously on every device you'll probably notice.

@johnnyboyis there anything this year that matches the bizarness of a song about Edgar Allan Poe.

I'd also bring back the NFL Europe. I used to watch the Claymores pretty regularly but outside of them winning the World Bowl that one time nobody really cared. I think things have changed in the 20 years since Claymores bit the dust and there's much more of an appetite for it now.

You've been partially beaten to that.  The European League of Football resurrected a lot of the NFL Europe names to use so Frankfurt Galaxy, Rhein Fire etc are actually running as teams now.

I haven't seen the rehearsal footage yet but no doubt it'll outrage the right people.

If I were to describe it in two words they would be "full" and "on."

  15. Just a quick reminder that it's Eurovision week.

Semi Final 1 is tomorrow on BBC One at 8pm

You can get your semi-scorecards from the Beeb here.

For the first time the Big 5 (+host) will perform during the semis rather than just being shown as a video snippet, even though they're already guaranteed a spot in the final.

Watch out for Windows95man (now with a blurred out logo, hence the Rules Applied Version tag on this).

What are the options re internet? Is it a case of running cable direct from the router down to the shed. It’s about 140ft from the router so any sort of wireless is out of the question. Or is there another way?

    1) A long network cable, ideally armoured so animals don't gnaw through it.

    2) Powerline adapters that can run network signals down mains wiring (saves doing a run each for power and networking)

    3) A wireless point-to-point bridge.  (This would be pretty expensive and wildly over-engineered for a shed)
