Fog Dude Posted July 30, 2025 Posted July 30, 2025 Well, all the schedules are in, the English domestic season technically started last night at The Hive, and it's only a fortnight until the thread for this season's meant to go live, so I suppose we'd better find ourselves some participants again. For the usual suspects: you know what to do. Feel free to bump this with a quick post to say you're up for it once more. More importantly, DM me a list of at least 3 teams so I can allocate them for D2D bets. I've cleared some space in my inbox for the purpose. All first teams are still allowed, club or country, male or female. Just no youth/reserve sides, please. Anyone who misses this thread will initially be allowed to jump into the main one, but must have sent me a valid set of D2D choices by mid-September. === About how last season ended: here's a reminder of Double-winning glory on the part of ultimo the great. As I enter my 18th season of organising this, you'd think I'd be pleased that the conclusion of the 17th was the closest one yet. And to some extent, I am. On the other hand, the run-in was unfortunately mired in controversy. In the end, ultimo was declared the champion by a single point. I have no real preference between him and runner-up TildeGuy and just called it as I saw it, although I concede how all that was decided was unclear. If I'd had to make a decision which resulted in myself being crowned the winner, you'd all be within your rights to say "sod this, it's a fix." But it was an honest call that I didn't benefit from in any way. So, I promise to be extra careful about quadruple checking overseas kick-off times for this campaign, especially on the final day. In return, since we recently hit a snag with a relatively high-profile league like Serie A, could we maybe go easy on the Uzbek 3rd division comedy D2D picks this season? Please?? Quote
Fog Dude Posted July 30, 2025 Author Posted July 30, 2025 Sorry for the double post but the General rules mainly intended for new or returning players work best separately. The League takes place every weekend over the regular August-to-May period. Most weekly cards contain 10 matches, generally highlighting the EPL with a sprinking of Scottish, EFL/NL or global games thrown in for good measure. This can vary though, especially for international rounds (unlike the Fantasy League, we don't take a break during those) and for major domestic knockout competitions. You score three (3) points for each exact scoreline you pick right, plus an additional one (1) point for any other correct results. There are occasional double, treble or "bumper" rounds as I see fit, plus various chances to score bonus points. The main one of those is the invention of League ex-runner @seph in the form of "Dare 2 Disagree" which can be explained later if there are any newbies interested. Friday (and Saturday lunchtime) matches are usually only allowed on Good Friday, but this year Boxing Day also falls on a Friday so they'll be permitted then too. Regulars take note! Guesses for postponed or abandoned matches are valid if the game is concluded the following midweek; otherwise, all picks for such fixtures are null and void. There's also a Cup competition these days. The exact format for that depends on the number of valid entrants so won't be finalised until sometime in September. Quote
