UKFF FPL Week 11

So, like the confused adoptive child of a gay couple, the FPL now has two Dads. They and 3 other participants go by different monikers. That'll probably make the table strange reading for a while, but with any luck, we'll have got used to them by the time the next international week rolls round.

Del's choice of Germany paid off slightly better than last time. Two other players disagreed that the already-qualified Germans would see off Ireland, earning him 4 bonuses, rather than the single consolation point he gained two years back. Quite a lot of people got the exact score from that match as well. Those points make Del the joint second highest scorer for the round and help lift him into 3rd place, but after sitting out last week, Lawz went one better by bagging a 16-point haul, which moved him level on points with our resident Bushwhacker. Above that duo sit MVP RULZ and The Ratt still, the former extending his lead over the latter by two to a healthy 7 points this time out.

Partly thanks to the deduction of a point, Shy Dad is this round's worst performer with 4 points. If he'd resisted the temptation to venture into the name change thread, Prince Nana and SNRN10 would've joined him as equal lowest scorers, as they only managed 5 this week. The gap at the wrong end between hallicks and the recently-rechristened Mungo Chutney remains the same at 9 points after both were awarded a not unimpressive 11 on this occasion.

All the European results bar Northern Ireland's reverse in Baku were widely foreseen, with Belgium's triumph in Zagreb proving quite fruitful for three-pointers. Elsewhere across the globe, outcomes were tougher to guess, such as Colombia's incredible comeback in a six-goal thriller against Chile which meant both sides progress. A lot of people had surprisingly little faith in Ecuador's ability to condemn Uruguay to the play-offs, but those that took a punt on a narrow home victory were rewarded. Few also expected Honduras to book their place by successfully seeing off Costa Rica, who'd sealed their spot in Brazil last month.

Many rightly thought Tunisia-Cameroon would be a draw, but scoreline-wise went for something more interesting than the stalemate that ensued. A majority also assumed Mexico would make light work of Panama, but in they end it took a late winner (and a favour from the US this morning) for them to stumble towards a play-off against the Kiwis. Finally, Senegal's reverse away to the Ivory Coast was comparatively straightforward.

You'll have noticed this is late, but I reckon I can be excused for slacking a bit on my birthday. Nevertheless, the new thread should be posted pretty sharpish.
