I think my suggestion also belongs in the guilty pleasures thread.......

 

Elaine Paige on Sunday - BBC Radio 2 - Songs from the musicals

 

This always seems to be on when I am driving in the car on a Sunday. I was stuck in a traffic jam the other Sunday on the M4 for almost an hour and this was my soundtrack. Fantastic stuff.

I have no problem with a good show tune but her voice just cuts through me.

 

I miss Sir Norman on a Sunday night, Giant 45 was unmissable Chez Shep.

I agree that her voice is a little grating but she sounds infinitely better than Babs Windsor who stood in for her the other week. Old Babs has that horrible voice plus the presentation skills of a pineapple. Don Black, another deputy for EP from recent weeks, however has a voice like warm treacle.
