Raw 9th of August 1999.

 

Before the show comes on air, we see the Countdown to the Millenium clock, and it shows that it will reach its conclusion tonight.

 

Raw opens and The Rock comes out to the ring and calls out The Undertaker and The Big Show. The oblige and start a beatdown on The Rock. X-Pac returns after a 2 week absense to try and help Rocky, but to no avail, until Kane rushes down and clears the ring. X-Pac and Kane then issue a challenge to The Acolytes for the Tag Team Titles later that night.

 

We see a limo pull up and out pops Shawn Michaels. Who hadnt been on WWE tv for ages at this point. We are also told that Jesse The Body Ventura will be here live tonight.

 

Christian takes on former leader Gangrel in a quick match, which results in The Hardy Boyz interfering and costing Christian the match. They beat down Christian and Edge after the bell. We assume this was under the instruction of Michael Hayes, their manager, as they were feuding with Edge and Christian at the time. But Hayes storms to the ring looking puzzled and pissed off. It becomes clear that he had nothing to do with it, and The Hardyz turn on him, siding with Gangrel to form The New Brood.

 

Jesse Ventura is out in the ring. Talking about how he is going to be a fair referee for the Summerslam main event of Stone Cold v Triple H. He'll call it right down the middle and so on. Enter Triple H with Chyna. Trips gets up in Jesse's face, telling him not to pull any stupid stunts. That Minesota might be Jesse's state, but Jesse is standing in the middle of Triple H's ring. HBK's music hits. Shawn decides that Triple H is throwing too much of his weight around, and decides to punish him. He decides to make a main event Triple Threat match, between Triple H, The Undertaker and Steve Austin, and if Triple H doesnt win, he wont be getting his title shot at Summerslam.

 

We see Stone Cold arriving as it cuts to commercial.

 

After the break, Stone Cold is laid out on the floor. With a cynder block near his head. Someone has taken him out. Triple H is near the scene looking smug. HBK is furious. He calls Triple H out to the ring again. He now changes the triple threat main event to be a number one contenders match, and in place of Stone Cold, will be Chyna.

 

The Rock comes back out. Says that since The Undertaker is busy, Big Show must be free. So he wants to go one on one tonight. Up pops the Countdown clock. Its seconds away. Jericho debuts. Great verbal exchange which ultimately ends in The Rock getting one up on Jericho, with Jericho looking furious.

 

Rock and Big Show have a tidy little match that ends when Jericho cost Rock the match as he is about to deliver The Peoples Elbow.

 

X-Pace and Kane defeat The Acoloytes to become the Tag Team Champions. After the match, Kane utters the words "Suck It". The first words he has spoken without the use of his voice thingy.

 

Chyna becomes the number one contender by pinning Triple H, after Stone Cold returns and smashes Triple H with a chair and Austin drags Chyna on top of him.
