  1. My number 1 choice would be newborn porn from A Serbian Film, i've never had my jaw wide open 10 seconds after witnessing something before. truly horrible.

The thing that has got me in the last year or so is the story of Junko Furuta's murder. a hideous, heartless torture and murder case from a few years ago of a 17 year old girl by 4 teenagers. not something you forget reading easily.

edit: the first link is very NSFW. the pics are from a film not the crime scene

From your description, it's the same. Milano Collection AT is now retired, but he was a DragonGate alumnus who left to go to NJPW. His gimmick was that he was an Italian-style fashionista, and his wrestling style was called llave - it's sort of a combination of lucha with submission wrestling, so lots of bizarre and outlandish submissions. He used the Paradise Lock in DG a fair bit.

It is the same move. First guy i ever saw do it was Mr Niebla in CMLL. Milano used to do a version using the ropes as well. Milano was said to be training for a comeback

    Day 13
Tomohiro Ishii vs. Bad Luck Fale
    Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Togi Makabe

    Day 14
    Kazuchika Okada vs. EVIL

    Day 15
    Kota Ibushi vs. YOSHI-HASHI
    Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Tomohiro Ishii

    Day 16
    Kazuchika Okada vs. Minoru Suzuki

Yano/Tonga from Day 14 is worth a look if you want more Yano

Is there a list anywhere of the matches worth catching this year? I did the whole tournament for the first and probably last time ever last year and it completely burned me out on wrestling despite the matches being good.  I'm hoping to catch just the best ones this year.

personal favourites and what has been talked of

    Day 1
    Hirooki Goto vs. Tomohiro Ishii
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
Tetsuya Naito vs. Kota Ibushi  (MOTN)

    Day 2
    EVIL vs. SANADA (MOTN)
    Minoru Suzuki vs. Kenny Omega

    Day 3
    Yuji Nagata vs. Hirooki Goto
Kota Ibushi vs. Zack Sabre Jr
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Bad Luck Fale (MOTN)
    YOSHI-HASHI vs. Tetsuya Naito

    Day 4
    Juice Robinson vs. EVIL
Michael Elgin vs. Kazuchika Okada (MOTN)

    Day 5
    Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Yuji Nagata
Kota Ibushi vs. Tomohiro Ishii (Match of The G1)

  4. Probably bullshit (no idea where i heard it) but he supposedly said he'd only go back to NJ if he could be Tiger Mask.

It's strange what's happened with him in the last year. looked set for the top in NJ then looks set for WWE, changes his mind pops up here and there then becomes another Tiger Mask. he's not working DDT regularly either.

I guess he's making more money this way or he gets bored easy. i think we'll see him in a NJ ring without the mask and challenging Omega for the title at some point this year or something else entirely. who knows i doubt he has any plans

Bad news about Takayama, seemingly a bad year in Japan for injuries. Any idea what caused the injury?

Really shitty year. Honma, Shibata, Akebono now this. bad looking injury in mexico too last night. not heard how it happened.

Just to counterbalance 'undercover elephant's' views on Omega v Ishii...and with no intention of being 'controversial'; I didn't enjoy it. Not horrible, but way, way short of the best from either of them. I've yet to see the IWGP Title match, but it'll have to be amazing to rescue what otherwise turned out to be a mediocre show. So mediocre, that with only 2 matches remaining on the card, Taguchi had been the highlight.

What on earth is going on with Tenzan's ankle / foot? Really quite disturbing. Has it always been like that? Only noticed it recently.

Agree on Omega/Ishii, much prefered the NJC Match. Suzuki/Goto was the best match of the tour for me.

Never noticed Tenzan's foot problem but looked back at Genesis and another show from this year and same there. odd

    Honma's still in hospital

Not New Japan news but there's no puro thread. Takayama suffered a serious injury last night at a DDT show. translated as cervical spinal cord injury and degenerative cervical spondylosis :(

  7. What report is that?

The only recent news i've seen is this

    Quote

An update on the situation with Katsuyori Shibata. Unfortunately the news appears to be very bad and that the injuries are not storyline. This is not 100 percent because there are many situations historically where this could be just storyline or a cover for something else, but it appears this is the case and that a combination of dehydration and the trauma of the legitimately skull-on-skull head-butt hospitalized him and at this point it is believed he will never be cleared to wrestle. He is currently in the hospital and is awake, can carry on a conversation, has some memories of the match itself. He initially had some right side paralysis but that is getting better

edit: i'm not sure where this update has come from. it's been posted on reddit, DVDVR & Uproxx

  8. As has been said there's nothing wrong with Strong Style if done by people who know what they're doing, like everything in wrestling. I haven't seen what happened to Balor but that would be proving the point, NOBODY should be getting injured from a forearm strike. I've been watching Puro for 17 years this is a very rare occurrence.

Nobody yet knows how this has happened to Shibata, wear and tear of an 18 year career in wrestling and MMA? recent over use of headbutts? or from the headbutt done in the match with Okada which was at a strange angle.

He's definitely upped the full force headbutts in the last 6-8 months, the worst of which being the one against Nakajima

  9. It's not a work, it could end his career. i don't know how similar this is to what happened to Takayama but he was out for 2 years.

Given Meltzer's experience of watching wrestling and MMA for decades i'm surprised he's even mentioned it possibly being a work. Watch Shibata trying to walk back after the match he looks like he's had a stroke.

Just like to echo the Elena Anaya love. Absolutely gorgeous but also a fine actress - she was superb in a French thriller called Point Blank that everyone should track down.

You should watch Sex & Lucia for more of Elena Anaya's "form" she's also very nude in Room in Rome but it's a tedious bunch of shit so watch her scenes on a tube site.

Tried to watch "Baise Moi" yesterday, but it's just too explicit (and I'm no prude) and the characters have no redeeming qualities about them whatsover.

So you're saying this isn't a thought provoking feminist masterpiece that some claim it to be?

My mother bought me Baise Moi about 12-13 years ago (along with i think La Haine) her reasoning being it has "half nude girls, guns and it's in french, you'll love it" but yeah it's basically a piece of shit porno. still hope she didn't know the translation of the title

Five Poncey films i've seen this year and so should you.

    1. The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki: Stunning looking true life black & white boxing drama.
    2. Train to Busan: Korean Zombie Thrill Ride
    3. Sweet Bean: only watch if you like slow japanese films. it's beautiful/heartbreaking
    4. Food & Shelter: Spain's I, Daniel Blake
    5. The Silence (2010): German child disappearance mystery
  11.

Is there any chance of ever getting classic AJPW footage on this?

Only if New Japan ever buy All Japan (?).

Unless something's changed recently All Japan don't own their footage from 1972-2000 Nippon TV do. they also own most of Noah's. No idea if AJ own their stuff from their time on Samurai TV and Gaora since the split. it's probably gettable but pricey

  12. Does that mean no Best of Super juniors this year then?

I'd guess they'd do both. Last year the BOSJ's was late May into June so they'll still be a few months between them. They did both in 2009 but the Super J Cup was held in December that year.

Personally only matches worth watching from the NJC have been Ishii's against EVIL (his best match by a mile) and Naito. I did skip Fale/Elgin so maybe that was amazing.

Wonder what happened to these guys
