There was the press release but we all know that they are alot of fluff and rah rah. As a Yorkshireman, I've never been one for that bollocks.
Â
The founders maintained some ownership and are involved. I believe the goal here is to cultivate a presence and a stable of talent both sides of the Atlantic that can be used to expand the line up of both companies. We have always liked what they do out in Seattle and they have a similar following at shows. We are not involved locally, ie. There's no Progress staff in Seattle.
Â
Progress office in the US is based in New Jersey.
Â
Flying wrestlers around isnt a huge cost as people think. For example, for Wrestlemania, we flew Session Moth Martina out but she also wrestled for 5 or 6 other promos. Industrsy standard is then to split the flight between other promos that she has represented. For teh most part, teh small promotions all try to support each other and look at bigger picture stuff.
Â
Thanks for coming back to me.Â
How does it work in terms of booking talent and storylines? Do they hold onto the creative side of things?
ÂAnd is it the same for progress. Do you have someone booking/writing  the storylines for progress or is that all that undertaken by Lee?Â

This is inaccurate. The Invasion Travel Group which owned Wrestling Travel was purchased by Intrax, a US based company. Within a year they had decided to refund last years wrestling travel packages. I believe that access to the tickets was cut by WWE because whoever took over teh social media bashed the WWE too much. You cant upset the big guy apparently.
Lee and myself set up "Wrestling Tours" as it was a solid event and made money, to pick up the baton. Not alot but worthwhile and its a blast.
We then got the opportunity to purchase the brand Wrestling Travel back in January. It did not go bust, they just purchased Invasion travel Group for the Americamp brand and had fuck all idea what to do with anything else. We paid a nominal amount that was worth it for the social media following alone, and immediately repaired the relationship with WWE.
ÂThe 251k was me. the 108k other owners. I'm pretty transparent and I have no worries about sharing stuff.
2023 we would have made a healthy profit if it wasn't for the WWE falling through. As it was we made a small loss. Theres a multi company structure involved in the shares and support of Progress, so Progress Wrestling Ltd balance sheet alone is a small snapshotÂCheers for coming on and engaging with us lot Â
Good to hear your not hoping to get your money back solely on progress shows as much like every promotion over here crowds are down and I think progress have only had one sellout post covid (rev pro excluded as they seem to always do great numbers).Â
ÂCan I ask a bit more about the Defy stuff and how it works if you guys arnt directly involved locally?Do the chaps who ran it before now work for you and run it the same.Â

So, hang on.... I'm confused now.... who are we mad at and what's the issue?Â
All I've established is that Danny Collins has put weight on and Tony Spitfire has a microscopic penis.
ÂAnd Frankie Sloan has posted a video of his nice doggo.Â
Didn’t realise we had such a following of traditional British wrestling show attendees on here Â

Didn’t realise Danny Collins was still going to be honest.Â
Âthought he mainly did stuff with that guy who phoned up Andy Quildan threatening him for saving the Liger deal (Matt Jarrett?).Â
Âwhy can’t you just work for Bagga instead of All Star if you prefer it.Â
-
I’ve got a feeling they’re going to go with Jarrett/Singh Vs. Big Show/Grado.Â
Âthe visual of the two big lads would be great and all (bar Singh) have been on TalkSport promoting the show so far, and it gets the rest of the Jarrett faction on the show.Â

There was something out there about Ospreay paying talent out of his own pocket if they got stung.Â

I’ll take that loss.Â
ÂIn my defence the pin used by Yuta very well done following his dressing down. He was taking no chances there.Â

Looks like Wheeler Yuta will be taking the fall and getting the hoof from the BCC based on the Dynamite main event and Danielsons comments about not cover both shoulders and giving him a talking to after the match. He has never felt like a good fit for them.Â
ÂFeels like the right time for a PAC return in the run up to Wembley.Â

There’s too many titles in AEW. Case in point.Â
ÂI’ve been reading this thread trying to keep/catch up and was wondering when Cassidy got the title back off Shibata. I’ve had to go to the international title Wikipedia which confirmed the all nations title was defunct ( and I’ve assumed Shibata vacanted) but after reading through it all it turns out that was the all Atlantic title which has turned into the international title and bloody hell this shouldn’t be that hard to follow for a transient viewer who though he was on top of things.Â
ÂTurns out Shibata won something else in a different promotion but it all blends into one now.Â
-
Is All Out still going ahead or will this replace it? I’ve had a quick look around and it looks like it’s still planned in for the week later which is ambitious.Â

There's a whole thread in just remembering OVW guys talked up in the magazine's; Russ McCullough and Ron Waterman are the future of the business.
Â
Was it Scott Vick that was there forever and Powerslam put him over every issue?

I’ll add a reverse one also.Â
ÂFTR. Couldn’t stand all the cosplay as classic tag teams stuff when they first came to AEW. Especially the Ax and Smash naming thing. Felt far too try hard.Â
ÂThink there great now and are consistently the best performers on what ever show in what ever setting they are in. The bald one vs. Ospreay from Dynamite the other month was a fantastic tv match.Â

Is this the only place to see him as a creepy fucker? Everywhere else treats him like the perfect ally.
I’m sure he’s alluded to lurking on here in past when he’s been called out on his creepiness. Must have a Google alert set up for it.Â
ÂProbs still comes here to check out the un conventional hotties thread.Â

What tv wrestling did that ding dong get on?
-
This was around April 2001 in a place called the Hardy Spicer Social Club near central Birmingham.Â
ÂThe wrestlers on this show were predominantly guys from Soverign Championship Wrestling and Hardy Spicer was a regular venue for them so i think it was something to do with them under a different name.Â
ÂPoison wrestled around the midlands in the early 2000s and I think trained in the states before coming back and training some of the guys associated with SCW and this show. I think he went back to The States not long after this. I was on a show with him for BRAWL in August 2001 but he didn’t do much after that. He was back in the UK around 2015 as I saw him at an ICW show at Rock City in Notts.Â
ÂHe was involved with the AIWF guys (from the Louie Theroux documentary) as some midlands promotions grouped together under the AIWF-UK banner for about a month before someone fell out with someone.Â
ÂMark Priest used to post in here as @Linus but not sure if he still monitors his account.Â
-
I think I found this place off of the back of the wrestle xpress nonsense and then lurked for a while before signing up in Feb 2002.Â
Â725 posts in 19.5 years is some going. Few periods of never coming on but always end up coming back on.Â
-
I’m convinced this is going to be a bait and switch.
ÂI don’t think you just announce the big show (legit in the top 5 most recognisable wrestlers of all time now) like they did and then start hyping up this mystery signing for it to be RVD/Christian/Dudley Boys.Â
ÂI think they do the announcement with whoever it is from one of the above or equivalent, and later in the show a much bigger run in / appearance in the main event. They need something for Omega and Moxley to move to next as this match is a proper fued ender.Â
Âfeel sorry for Mox / Omega. First time ever kind of match and all everyone is talking about is the merits of bringing in Christian.Â

Apparently/ allegedly so far Matt Riddle, Trent Seven & Sid Scala have already proceeded down this route.Â

Ay pish. There you go @TheLostScot 😂.Â
Âonly joking. The episode with Sha Samuels recently is worth a listen if you have a passing interest in the failed World of Sport reboot. And the episode last week covering the Speaking Out movement is worth a listen.Â

Even worse, he was wearing pumps.
Huge primary-school-PE-lesson-non-marking-soles pumps.
Where he procured them him in his size is anyone’s guess.
Take it he’s still knocking about on TV in his Vans then. This struck a chord with me when watching the build up to his match Vs. Tyler Bate. It bugged me he’s wearing fashion / skate trainers rather than a proper sports training shoe, considering the matte is hellig or whatever it is.Â

If anyone else has paid for Starrcast, the MJF show is worth watching, it’s a lot of fun. He’s absolutely excellent in it and shows off what an excellent character he should be on the TNT show.
The Cody interview with Tony Schiavone is great too, Cody is such a likeable guy and Schiavone is a great interviewer.
I won the weekend pass off IndyCorner. Cody thing was great. I’ll give CM Punk a go between NXT and All Out.Â

Who does the booking if you can reveal?
Â
And do you measure their success on tickets sold or and combination of other factors (like social media engagement, VOD subs etc).Â
One of the things on the rumour mill is that Luke Jacobs, despite being probably the best domestic wrestling in the country, doesn’t get pushed in progress due to his prominent role in Rev Pro which I kind of get now you’ve talked about the importance of the marketing element.Â
Â
Sorry for the all the questions, this is dead interesting to me.Â
