  1. Anyone else been watching The Mimic on Channel 4? Better than it has any right to be. They've done the right thing in making it a bleak sitcom about a bloke who can do voices but uses it in the saddest and most lonely ways possible, rather than just have a bloke stand doing voices for half an hour.

Yea definitely agree with this. Not what I expected, thought it was just going to be another impression / sketch show but it is something different and I am enjoying more with each episode.

  2. Watched the first episode of the US Inbetweeners. It's a bit, well, shit. In fact it's a lot shit. I'm going to watch a couple more to see if it gets into it's stride once the cast settle into the roles a little but I've not got much hope for it. The only funny bits were the bits ripped straight out of the original and even they are old now. The casting of the four main guys is horrific. Popping up the soundtrack during the episode is distracting. Beeping words like "shit" is pointless. Either leave out the bad language or put it on a channel that can air it.

    Bus turds....

  3. I've also been watching The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret on Netflix. No idea how I'd not heard of it before as its written by and starring David Cross who I fucking love. Only 6 episodes but it's brilliant.

There is a 2nd season of 6 episodes which finished in the US about 2 months ago, don't think it has been shown over here yet though. Think there was meant to be a 3rd, requested by the US network it is shown on, but David Cross decided against it.

  4. was disappointed with the final season, i was enjoying it but it was just business as usual, if the show was just continuing it would have been fine, but it seemed like they were just getting warmed up and wrapped it all up in an episode. That said, im sad to see it go, brilliant series.

I thought the final episode was excellent though despite feeling like a rushed attempt to tie up all loose ends. The Vince/English bird thing did nothing for me though, that whole thing just seemed pointless, guess they wanted to bookend Vince's story. The only thing i really gave a shit about at the end was Ari and his wife, that was good shit.

    They teased a spin-off though...

There is supposedly a film next, the creators have been talking about it for a while and said that it was definitely going to happen once the series had ended.

  5. Really enjoyed Breaking In starring Bret Harrison, Christian Slater and Michael Rosenbaum. Its a sitcom about a high tech security firm who are hired by companies to break in to the their businesses to find the flaws with their security systems.

There were only 7 episodes and it hasn't been renewed but it is definitely worth a watch

Plus if you need any more reasons to give it a go...

  6. Saw The Hangover Part II last night.

It was OK. I thought it was going to be crap but it wasn't. Good but not great. Highlight was all 7 of us losing our shit when we spotted the Randy Savage poster in Alan's bedroom.

What I didn't like was how they kept it so similar to the first one. The twists and turns it was just all so predictable, and to have another song in it was just milking it and it wasn't even good.

Still, I laughed like a drain at some bits, but I think I will have to watch it again sober to score it's hilarity. Some bright spark though it would be a good idea to do pitchers of cheap cocktails before the film. Never doing that again.

Yeah I felt very much the same way about it. It's very hit and miss with the laughs but when it works it scores pretty big. The biggest issue I had with it is its just pretty forgettable. The first is one of the most quotable comedies in recent memory, yet the second really lacks those great lines and the ones that are good are mostly rehashes from the first. But yeah, good not great is about right, I saw a review describe it as the Die Hard 2 of comedies which pretty much sums it up.

    Completely agree.

Haven't seen the film yet but was in Paris for the weekend and was slightly tickled by the poster outside the cinema

  7. Just been looking for something to download and saw a Nick Patrick shoot interivew listed which was quite intriguing - however i hadn't realised he's left WWE (assuming he wouldn't do this if he was under contract). When did he leave ?

    According to the Wiki..

Patrick was eventually released from the WWE on August 8, 2008 after seven months of inactivity due to a chronic back injury.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Hamilton

I think he came back during the period of inactivity for one match during a Smackdown taping, but that was it. From what I gather Patrick was very popular among a lot of the wrestlers as he guided them through the matches to a greater extent than others.

That said, as a fan I always found it a tad irritating seeing his hand under the shoulder of the guys that was at the point getting pinned and apparently tapping it to signal when to kick out!

This annoyed me a bit too but then I read that he did it to prove that the shoulders were down rather than telling them to kick out

  8. Just a kinda notification.

BIG BANG THEORY SERIES 3 ON E4 TOMORROW at 9.30 (kick ass)

Technically its the second half of season 2, dunno why E4 are advertising it as a new series

But I love the show anyways, have only just watched both seasons over the last month or so and downloaded the newest ones so I am all up to date - love Sheldon, great character and Penny

  9. Speaking of Heroes season 3 - does anyone know what's happened to it on BBC2? It was being shown on Wednesday nights but disappeared just before Christmas. I assumed it would be back after the festive schedules but I've seen no sign of it yet. The last episode I saw didn't seem like a season finale:

Sylar trapped a few of them in the Primatech building, and tried to get Claire to kill Angela. Claire's bio-mom was later left burning uncontrollably in a cell while Noah saved the cheerleader.

    Have I missed something? :(

It took a Christmas break in the US as alot of other shows have aswell. I read that it will start again on BBC2 sometime in February, although not sure if the exact date has been confirmed.

  10. Quick DVD question

Are Region 2 releases that contain WWF footage blurred (sets like HIAC or superstar profiles) like the region 1 releases? Is it only the tagged classics that are released unblurred because they are made for SilverVision?

    Thanks

  11. An odd one.

how many covers, VHS and DVD, has kane been on for PPV'S,

and if possible what events are they

A quick glance shows these ones:

    No Way Out 1998

    Judgement Day 1998, 2000, 2007

    No Mercy 2002

    Unforgiven 2003, 2004

    One Night Stand 2008

I think you must've got a bit mixed up with the last one. He didn't even appear on the show, let alone the cover. In fact, Kane has never appeared on any of the One Night Stand's (unless he was in the '05 show-closing brawl, which I don't think he was). Though, I can't think was show you must have meant instead...

I am pretty sure he fought Mark Henry in a Lumberjack Match on one of the shows.

  12. ...and finally was the Umaga gimmick originally conceived for Samoa Joe

    many thanks

Not so much answering your question (although I have heard that he was offered the Umaga gimmick, but only from news sites) but adding to it.

There was a podcast interview with Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Petey Williams on The Sun website a while back. In the description it says Joe talks about his 'secret' meeting with Umaga during Wrestlemania weekend. Has anyone listened to this, as I was just wondering what was said etc?
