  1. I believe it's Tricky - Wonder Woman

I'm surprised you can hear that theme even when you're unconscious.
I hear it in my sleep, so it might be possible. On topic though, are we sure it's a released track? I'm sure the first line is "Cheerleader Melissa, she's so delicious...", so I figured it was a custom job. However, if it is available...
  2. MGS2 finished!Solidus was much easier to beat than I remember him. Once you get the hang of it, the HF Blade is a load of fun to use, especially when it comes to the samurai movie-esque blood spurting.A few more of the Alternative/VR missions, then it's time for Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy.

  3. I know I'm late to the party, but I had my first Wii experience last night. Good God, that's fun!

We mostly played Wii Sports. Whoever decided to make this the pack-in title is one smart cookie. I discovered that I'm quite good at the Boxing (even if punchig with my right hand did somehow land a lot of left-handed strikes) and absolutely blow at Golf.

The Bowling is just awesome though. Easy to play, very much like real bowling. The physics are spot-on. My other half doesn't bowl, doesn't play video games, has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and played sitting down. She still scored 125 with three strikes and went "we're saving up for one of these, yeah?". She also scored Par on the Beginner's golf course... I was 5 over...

One of our party had a weird little "shivving-in-the-prison-shower" technique that works really well for her (she won the bowling by a fairly wide margin), that I found impossible to emulate (maybe she's done time).

We played for about two-and-a-half hours and my arms feel like rubber bands this morning.

MGS2 update: Taken a break from trying to beat RAY (wonder if chaff grenades will stop them firing those fucking missiles at me...) and have been playing through some of the "Substance". The "Hold-Up" missions are great fun as is trying to get the bonus for knocking people out, rather than killing them in the "Eliminate All" section. "First-Person View Mode" is just odd and I think will require a fairly significant relearning of the control method. I'm leaving that till last...

  4. Today on MGS2...I'm at the bit where it starts to go squiffy and tries to throw you off ("Turn off the console... NOW!"). Had a particularly embarrassing death too: After the Harrier fight, you have to walk the pipes between two struts to carry on. Guess who slipped on bird shit and fell into the sea?

I know somebody who did turn their PS2 off after the Colonel told him to do it. Had been a wee while without saving.
My favourite dirty tricks it plays are flicking to the "HIDEO" channel, replacing your radar with a picture of a Japanese woman and the "Fission Mailed" screen where it tries to convince you you've died in the middle of a raging battle only for the game to still be going on in the top left hand corner of the screen.I'm now up to the fight with multiple Metal Gear RAYs atop Arsenal Gear (sounds like a football merch shop), which I had forgotten about and it's bloody difficult.

Had a particularly embarrassing death too: After the Harrier fight, you have to walk the pipes between two struts to carry on. Guess who slipped on bird shit and fell into the sea?Today on The Movies...Made romantic comedy "Gorillas on the Piss" and started shooting cat burglar/private eye action/love story "She Stole My Files... And My Heart". None of this is easy when your actors are stress pots and all three of your directors are alcoholics.

  6. Still on MGS2. Shell 2, Strut L. Woohoo! In contrast to MGS1, some of this game is much harder than I remember it. Oddly, some other bits (the Harrier fight, for example) are much easier.I've also acquired the Mac version of The Movies, whch I loved on my PC. Great fun, although I'm still crap at it.

  7. Right, that's Metal Gear Solid out of the way (about 10 hours, for the record), along with the little VR missions. I can't be arsed with Special Missions at the moment, so it's on to MGS2: Substance. I'm going to play through the main game, then all the extra goodies I think.

Extra bonus: when I opened the case, my copy of Burnout fell out. I've been looking for that for months.

On the subject of MGS: Does anybody have/know how/where to get the CODEC ringing and "!" sound effects? I need new ring and SMS tones. :-D

  8. Gave up on "The Rescue" mission in Driver. Waaaaay too hard.

I've gone back to the PS1 Metal Gear Solid. I've got the lot, so I thought I'd play the saga in release order (MGS, Special Missions, MGS2: Substance, Snake Eater). It's taken me about seven hours to get to the warehouse containing REX (the same amount of time I've spent trying to unsuccessfully beat that Driver mission) and I've really enjoyed the whole experience.

The Psycho Mantis section is still one of the most inventive things I've ever seen in a video game ("I will move your controller using the power of my mind alone..."). His theme tune also scares my cat.

WH Smith are having another of their cheap-as-fuck entertainment clearouts including a ton of games. Most of the PS2 selection hover between

  9. Welcome to Gwailo's Gaming on a Budget.

I'm unemployed, meaning I have all the time in the world to play games, but no money to buy new ones with. Praise be, then, for Computer Exchange and horrendous depreciation as I can now pick up past classics for silly money.

Recently, I've played through and finished Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (

  10. Ok, I know it's been asked before but does anyone know how to get around those stupid regional blocks on sites like WWE.com that stop you watching videos outside the US? Ive been finding more and more sites that adhear to it and it's realy starting to piss me off, there must be a reasonably simple way round it?!

You'll be wanting a US proxy service. Google "free US proxy" and have a dig around
  11. Teach me about the ECW 'Pulp Fiction' promos?

Simple: after each show, they shot fuckloads of promos. The editor then took them, cut the best soundbites together in a montage to Dick Dale's "Misirlou" and whacked it on the end of the TV show. It was a great way to get loads of people over on TV shows they might not otherwise be on and keep their respective feuds in fans' minds. The show was an hour a week and there must've been upwards of twenty people in noteworthy programs (sometimes twenty people just involved in the Raven/Dreamer program :D). I'm currently watching ECW TV 1996 and these montages make Perry Saturn of all people look like a master talker.EDIT: There's Dragon Gate hoodies? Gimme!
  12. Why did Jerry Lawler not appear at Survivor Series 93 versus the Harts, and what was HBK supposed to be doing prior to being thrown into Lawler's place?

I believe he was having legal difficulties relating to his prediliction for younger ladies at the time and the WWF didn't want him on-screen incase he was found guilty. He returned as a colour commentator at WrestleMania X in April 1994.
  13. Now my question - Can anyone explain how the FMW explosions were done? They look impressive - was it not dangerous to these explosions right on the wrestlers?

Simple...DIRECTOR: "You, Pyro Guy; when I say 'now', you push that big red button. You two wrestlers, when you hear me say 'now', keep your fucking heads down!"Seriously, they're low-powered pyro charges, with plenty of whichever chemicals it is they mix in for a good flash and a plume of smoke (magnesium, I think and..?). As for the wrestlers, they just take 'em.
  14. Can someone post the WSX roster.....and what they are better known as in other feds?

The MTV website, atrocious though it is, lists "the cast" (aaaaargh) with belts held in other companies.
Just looking at their bios for Genki and Yoshino. They have half of Yoshino's signature moves listed, then under Genki's signature moves they've actually listed the rest of Yoshino's. Poor Genki. :(
I guess "Backslide... From Heaven~!" just isn't cool enough for MTV.
  15. A bit of a quickie. Why hasn't Sting (the singer) not sued Sting (the wrestler)?Thank you brahs.

Good question, I can never remember any legal dispute getting out. Maybe Turner just paid him off, or maybe it just flew under his radar. Wheres Lister? he's good with wrestling realated legalities.
I'm sure I remember seeing a photograph of them (Sumner & Borden) sharing a stage in a copy of WCW Magazine circa 1992.
