  1. TripleA's review has reminded me that I really need to give Braid another go.

I agree that it's a beautiful work of art with plenty to say about gaming and the nature of storytelling itself. I just wish I was better at it. :( I might kill my savegame and restart from scratch with fresh eyes.

On the subject of unconventional puzzlers, I've recently been playing a little bit of Echochrome on the PSP. It's an Escher-inspired, black-and-white 3D(ish) puzzle game where you manipulate the camera to create a path for a perpetually walking character. The twist being that "perception is reality", so if you turn the perspective so, for example, a piece of scenery covers a hole your dude will walk straight over the hole. If it looks like your little guy can take a route, then he can take that route.

It's a proper brain-bender and highly recommended to anyone who thought Portal messed with their head and anyone who likes something different.

  2. Someone I know seems convinced River Song is an older Amy Pond.

    Don't see it myself!

    Nah...

As a side note, I finally saw what others see in Alex Kingston.

Moll Flanders is currently being repeated on some channel, if you so desire to see her frollicking with her baps out.

    >cue frantic checking of Freeview guide...<

  3. There's been plenty about this current season that I've hated, but those last two episodes don't fall into that category.

Brilliant stuff. Blink was the last time I enjoyed every second of a Dr. Who episode and these two managed that two weeks on the trot.

They'll go alongside Blink as keepers.

  4. So, Sony have just sent me PSPgo. Did I mention I love my job and of course, any and all Sony products? :D

As this thing hasn't remotely been on my radar, are there any owners on here and what can you recommend for me to download for it?

It's pant's . I got 1 and all I have on it is MGS from the PS1 and a few other PS1 classic's along with footie manager and loads of comic's. I use my older PSP more just due to UMD's being cheep, Because of the the download only thing for the go it stops you getting cheep 2nd hand UMD's.

Fuck, if it means I can play Metal Gear Solid on the train, I'm in! Screw everything else! :D

But you could get a older PSP for

  7. From the Lost thread:-

I met Juliet and Boone yesterday. EDIT: June 3rd

Juliet, who is tall, beautiful and nowhere near as bug-eyed in real life, flirted with me while I waited to attach her microphone and I saw Boone's arse when he mooned his Vampire Diaries co-star to distract her in the middle of an interview.

    Fun day.

If any of you are into V and Vampire Diaries, I spent the day with the main cast of both shows and they were all awesome. The Gossip Girl twosome less so.

  8. Kristin Scott Thomas 50 (today!)

    KristinD0806_468x552.jpg

Shes a bag of bones. Yack.

She's also the grumpiest old bag I've ever had the misfortune to be in the same room as.

I can't find the pics online anywhere, but Gina McKee (46) is looking outstanding in the Radio Times this week. Almost to the point that you'd think she'd been severely airbrushed or had work done.

Her husband was the only good lecturer I had on my college course. It's always funny seeing him on TV at awards shows and the like.

Good call on Tia Carrere. I've had a thing for her since Wayne's World and she's responsible for kick-starting my thing for Oriental women. Yes, I know she's Hawaiian, but she played Chinese in that movie and I was young, horny & impressionable.

  9. Today, it'll be Stephen Frears (who I've met before and is a miserable bastard) and Dominic Cooper.

I've met/interviewed Cooper a bunch of times and he's actually friends with an old work colleague. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to remind Cooper that the last time I met him he was laughing so much in the interview, he fell off his chair...

EDIT: I didn't in the end, but as he came over he did say "You look familiar; have we met before?"

  10. Ah, so glad Gilliam's not a prick. I'd have been crushed to find out he was anything less than as awesome as he looks.

I've run camera on interviews with him three or four times and he's great. He's always laughing and refreshingly honest. If he thinks something sucks, he'll tell you, make a joke about it,t hen fall into peels of laughter. I question that weird little rat-tail thing in his hair, but still want him as an uncle... Him and Bill Nighy who, by the way, is also awesome.

I fucking hate you with every fibre of my being. She could piss in my bath. I bet she smells delicious. Did her boobs jiggle like they do in the Spotlight video? I NEED ANSWERS!!

She was wearing quite a decolletage-happy dress and, yes, they're lovely. I didn't really get close enough for a sniff, though. She just seems like a happy, normal southern girl, which, for the few years she's had, is really quite remarkable.

(I don't really hate you man)

    Yay!

  11. Today, I met both Gollum and Luke Skywalker. Who wants to to touch me?

I'm out in Cannes covering the film festival for work and we seem to be interviewing about a billion people a day. Most of them, sadly, are arty French ponces. In the past few days, though, we've spoken to Terry Gilliam (always great value), Aishwarya Rai (former Miss World & all-around Bollywood hottie), Jennifer Hudson (very lovely, quite beautiful in person and surprisingly normal), Terrence Howard (absolute fruitcake) and Stephen Baldwin (ditto).

The icing on the cake came today though. We'd been waiting on Hamill and Serkis confirmation for ages and they ended up being scheduled practically back-to-back.

Andy Serkis is a gentleman and a damn fine interview. He bought us all coffee and gave us a near-45 minute interview on... well.. just about everything!

Mark Hamill is freaking awesome. A genuinely nice man, he insisted on knowing how to spell my name properly (I told him he was my new best friend when he got it right first time; few people do) and said he has a weird thing about spelling people's names "like George in Seinfeld... I just compared myself to George Costanza... That's probably not good..."

We were scheduled for a 20 minute slot (which is really long in this business; a colleague of mine recently interviewed Jennifer Lopez and was a granted a princely four minutes) and ended up going nearly double. When he answers a question, he answers a question, complete with impressions of George Lucas, Anthony Daniels, Malcolm MacDowell & Hugh Jackman, his "Joker" voice and Monty Python jokes.

In the end, he was almost dragged away by his PR rep as he was now late for his next interview.

Two fantastic men and, with the addition of shooting a personal parkour demonstration on the Croisette, a hell of a day!

  12. I saw the "Record" button. Although why that's there anyway is its own mystery/plothole.

The other possibility, I suppose, and here's some proper straw-clutching, is that she saw the film, recorded her message, hit "Forget", fell unconscious, then we came in, she had forgotten that she'd seen the film and watched it again and, this time, immediately hit "Forget".

  13. I assume she recorded it before she pressed forget.

    Hmmm... I don't think so.

She was unconscious. She woke up, watched the film, immediately pressed "Forget" then The Doctor arrived. Unless this ties into a later episode where she does it and sends it back/forward in time to herself (unlikely; this seemed a very standalone episode), she didn't have any time to record the message and it was never mentioned again.

  14. A whole lot of "What the fuck's going on?" and the usual Mill phone-it-in FX job saved by some snappy dialogue ("You're Scottish; fry something!") and a fast pace.

The title sequence and new theme music are pretty terrible. I'll forgive these for the hot ginger assistant. Overall, it was a whole lot better than most of the previous season and the various "specials" over the last couple of years.

Plus, the "Coming Soon" trailer had Bill Nighy...

  15. That's not the original, that's a fan recut. It's too long, the channel graphic keeps changing and the shots are in the wrong order (believe me, I've seen the original a hundred times). The original is here albeit with the sound disabled because Warner Music Group don't understand the internet.

Somewhat controversially, I've never been a fan of this video. Maybe it's down to being a WCW fan instead fo a WWF fan growing up, but it's also a really dull edit (any idiot can dissolve slo-mo entrance shots in Windows Movie Maker) and a terrible song. Does nothing for me.

    Immense.

  16. Which brand has Zack Ryder gone to now ECW has finished?

From the latest issue of the Observer:

The other big order of business this week was the dispersal of the ECW talent with the dropping of the show. Christian, Yoshi Tatsu, Vladimir Kozlov and William Regal are earmarked for Raw. Ezekiel Jackson, Shelton Benjamin, Zack Ryder, Rosa Mendes, Trent Barretta, Caylen Croft and Vance Archer are on Smackdown. Goldust, Abraham Washington and Tiffany are up in the air. Savannah remained as ring announcer for NXT. Byron Saxton has also disappeared from view.

    Best part bolded...

  17. The WWF/E Desire campaign videos from 2001/2002: how many were there, for who, and does anyone have a complete set in top video quality they could run off for me?

The ones I can think of are:-

    - The original WWF "My Sacrifice" one

    - Undertaker "My Sacrifice" (I think he may have had a second with a different song)

    - Steve Austin "My Sacrifice" (I think he had a second as well)

    - Triple H "Beautiful Day"

    - Kurt Angle "Clocks"

    - The Matt Hardy spoof one shortly after he turned heel, set to his Monster Magnet theme

    - The Rock (set to P.O.D.'s "Alive" and just about my favourite edit ever)

Obviously, y'know, the likes of Test and Godfather didn't get them, but I'm sure there's more than this. Any ideas?
