  1. 3 and 1/2 weeks until Download, 4 days until the Birmingham show and we're still none the wiser.Vinnie Appice has ruled himself out too after some harsh about recording with Dio and Iommi on the Heaven & Hell album.Which leaves us with...well, who exactly? Mike Bordin has played with Ozzy in the past, Tommy Clufetos plays with Ozzy now, or it be someone else entirely. The whole thing has taken the shine off them headlining Download

Black Sabbath has become a saga now when infact it should be celebrating the fact this could be the last time Sabbath could be playing together and for someone like myself who would like to see sabbath know it's ruined by shitty politics. I must say i am really, really looking forward to Cancer Bats at download looking old skool and Lowdown on scuzz is providing me with extra buildup which i don't need as i can't wait to go.And i reckon VR reunion is true but Weiland has gone vocalist on everyone and announced on his own terms.
  2. Just goto a festival for 1 day?

Still get the over used bands at festivals problem. Someone on the download forums produced a graph for how many times each band has played. Killswitch will have played DL 3 times in 4 years this summer BFMV have played the last 3 years, so it does get repetitive.
  3. Looking at this years Headliner and Sub Headline acts i can see what people mean about lack of headline material. Metallica, Sabbath, Soundgarden and Prodigy have all been around for a while.

I personally feel we will end up going the way of the yanks and going more day festivals. But can i say did anyone catch the Jagermeister Tour? Skindred + Therapy? for a fiver was the biggest bargain ever.

  4. Howard Jones has left Killswitch Engage. Not really a shock, you get the impression that Howard wasn't happy in the band for a long time, I always felt that he was never truly comfortable being on stage either. Great vocalist no doubt, but he always seemed out of place to me.Band are looking for a new singer.

Howard killed Download 2010. Howard fitted KsE like a glove and although everyone seen the writing on the wall he was brilliant. If Jesse rejoins i will be pissed but i think this will be the end of KSE for now if not ever. Also Velvet Revolver are reforming for one night on friday for a charity gig in LA with Scott Weiland. And Joey Scott has left Saliva to launch a Christian band.
  5. Watching Skindred live from Kentish town on Scuzz. Benji is legendary and he did a DJ set in Meze Newport on Halloween, was funny as.

People need to invest a fiver to see these on the Jagermeister World Tour. A Fiver to see Skindred and Therapy? is a fucking steal.

  6. Every Time I Die are in Cardiff tonight, i just can't afford to go though. I'm gutted because i wanna see every band on the bill, plus i aint seen Every Time I Die in a long time.

As for thing with not being liked by metal fans, it's cause they were always lumped in the 'core scene and have never really gotten away from it. My housemate (who's as close minded a music-metal fan as you can get) takes every oppurtunity he gets to call them Every Time I Cry, dick.

As for ETID, this live footage appeared on their last DVD, live from the legendary (and now closed) TJ's in Newport...

    I was there :)

TJ's was legendary. It's being turned into a resturant which will suck. I remember seeing some cracking bands in there including Lost Prophets and now there just seems to be nothing in newport.

  7. Skindred/therapy? jager world tour for a fucking fiver. ace

im going! Black Spiders have been added to the bill. I think there's around 25 of us planning on trekking up together already, shows what happens when the prices drop

Going from newport 7 of us on the drink from lunchtime, through Skindred (perhaps with some free Jager) and on into the night.

  8. The Prodigy confirmed as the Friday Download headliner

You just knew they would sneak a non-metal act in there.

Does anyone on here remember 2009 where even the Manson fans were leaving to watch them, they are the biggest 2nd stage headliners i have seen crowd wise.

Does this confirm Machine Head as Friday 2nd stage headliners?

  9. Based on this weekends games i can see Wales just nudging past england but it'll be a high scorer from the mistakes/missed kicks etc. . .

Scotland shot themselves in the foot and i'll put money on Ireland to win although i do feel having england + ireland at home helps wales. I wouldn't fancy being any team and having to go to the milenium stadium to play wales at the minute.

  10. TNA isn't close to WCW in anyway. WWE ran their business for several years in direct competition to WCW, concentrating on beating them in the ratings and obsessing over who was doing better. They don't give a shit about TNA.WWE was terrified of letting stars go in the late 90s because they'd go to WCW and make a genuine difference. Today it makes no difference. Christian, Angle, Rhyno and many others have gone directly to TNA and it's made absolutely fuck all difference. If everyone on WWE dropped 30 pounds overnight it wouldn't make a blind bit of difference to the relative success of WWE and TNA. TNA could introduce a policy tomorrow by which every one of their stars was force-fed steroids and growth hormone with mandatory eight hour daily gym sessions and it wouldn't get them any closer to WWE's business levels. TNA aren't on the radar. Nobody is. WWE effectively IS the professional wrestling industry and they are the only people who can make changes that affect the entire industry.

I think it would make a differance if someone like The Rock returned to Wrestling but went with TNA. Even Hogan showing up on TNA would probably inject interest.
Nope unfortunatly. Look at TNA's current Roster. You've Got Sting who was one of WCW's biggest draws and he did absoutly nothing. the Rock i think would generate more interest than Hogan but he'd only be on a one time only appearance so it wouldn't be worth it although the Rock vs. Samoa Joe would be one awesome match and could create one of the best promo's of all time.
  11. Anyway on topic WWE doesn't push guys on size then explain to me Khali, Snitsky,Big show? They all were there because of their size only. The biggest guy in ECW was Sal E. who wasn't pushed at all. And wasn't Raven wanted by WWE as Johhny Polo but he left them just like Douglas left WCW? People could get over but WWE couldn't book them properly. In theory signing Paul Heyman would of been a lot easier.

Ironically, the WWF wanted Raven but only as a manager and producer because they thought he was too small to be a wrestler.
not the point i was trying to make but it's better for the discussion
  12. Your example of The Sandman could be equalled by Mankind. He was fat, yet McMahon pushed him to the moon.

Oh come off it!!ECW was full of guys with less than superman builds (who were allowed to work to their strengths and get over);RavenSandmanCactus JackMikey WhipwreckTommy DreamerJustin CredibleSteve CorinoThe DudleysTajiriReyPsychosisJuviMalenkoSabuRVDNew JackBallsBlah blah blah... Heyman brought guys in because they had shown themselves to have great wrestling ability, a winning gimmick, loads of charisma/mic skills, or a combination of these. Vince hires young, good-looking types with great builds and hopes he can turn them into wrestlers. The fact that Mick Foley both 1) got over a gimmick that could quite easily have bombed and 2) nearly killed himself by taking masses of insane bumps, meant that McMahon had to push him!! I can't fathom how anyone could argue that ECW was as size/build obsessed as WWF/E ???
Well you pretty much listed the entire roster of the old ECW there. I am not saying ECW was size obsessed at all but you mentioned that a fat guy could get over and main event in ECW as if it was exclusive to them. All I'm saying is that WWE has examples of this as well. WWE does hire a lot of big men but its not a pre requisite for making it to the top as history proves. ECW hired misfits and rejects because nobody else wanted them until they got to ECW. They accentuated the positives which is why ECW worked so well (for a while)
ECW for the record would of lasted a lot longer if Heyman didn't try to control ECW by himself and didn't have guys disappearing left, right and center. 13. Didn't see this posted in here but an update on Doctor Astin and the possible implications of this - http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/h...t.asp?aID=20061This bit in particular stood out:

The announcement that Benoit passed his 4/10 steroid test, even if he did, is one that can't hold up to public opinion with the revelation in this indictment, because it covers a period well into the Wellness policy. A key point of this is unlike with Balco, where they were using designer drugs that could beat the tests, Astin was prescribing Benoit regular steroids, so either the testing is incredibly flawed, Benoit had a way to easily beat the tests, or the tests themselves were a sham. I strongly believe the latter is not the case, but I also believe the latter will be the conclusion most will come to. This is the first time when I truly fear that wrestling as we know it not only will be undergoing great changes, but that as bad as Vince McMahon's reputation is in some circles, and even with his history of rebounding from negatives, this will tarnish it to a level that he may never live to fully turn around. There will be a far increased number of cries in the media over the next week, which have already started, to do something about the industry. Between the advertisers, sponsors, and those action figures with the muscular physiques, this is not a story going away soon.

There is a silver light. If your Jerichos/Styles/Mysterios stop juicing then they'll be able to focus on having great matches again without the need to worry about them looking like the bigger guys.
