  1. If Soni books the Foo's then i'm pretty sure even if weekend tickets are £300 a hit they will fly off the shelf.

When you think Download is Slipknot (Off the back of headlining two years ago and a winter arena tour) Muse (Not playing the stuff which would appeal more to the DL audience) and Kiss, I can't see that shifting tickets. Even looking at the undercard there is nothing special, lots of repeat bookings but i've got a feeling Soni will be the better festival this year.

If AC turned around and said Slipknot will be doing Iowa in full, Muse doing origin of symmetry in full then it would be a different ball game. I just get the feeling a festival is generic shortened versions of bands own gigs without the something special they had before.

  2.

Out of 19 bands added, I only give a shit about 3 of them.

    Was Download always this bad?

    it's filling out as expected

i don't really say how anyone can say it's bad? the fact this thing happens every year always makes the festival lineup look simlar to past ones, but the lineup for a festival that attempts to cater for hard rock/metal fans across the board it's solid. If the bands aint of you're taste that's fair enough but it's hardly a bad lineup.

I missed Donnington last year due to poor headliners. This year i am not going purely due to AC not booking the foo fighters. I'm sorry but Muse have been poor and stopped playing Showbiz/Origin Of Symmetry live. FNM mean nothing and Kiss are hit and miss. If Rise Against are the friday when Judas Priest are on then i will get a friday ticket for 5FDP/Rise Against/Slipknot. I also think rebooking the same headliners as two years ago is very, very lazy especially with Slipknot touring January and BSC having toured in October.

  3. If you were going back to bare bones with TNA now you'd look at

    January - Genesis

    April - Lockdown

    June - Slammiversarry

    October - Bound For Glory

If you ran Genesis as part of the UK tour and taped 10 weeks of TV too leading you into Lockdown then you run an arena and then a few days of taping in the same arena after (Hammerstein say) to take you into Slammiversarry. Then perhaps run 8 weeks of taping after Slammiversarry and run a month before BFG a set of tapings and promo events in a week. Then do Bound For Glory  and tape TV out for the year.

You run 5 events for TV/PPV all year in decent size arenas and a worldwide tour. If Japan is big enough then do Slammiversarry in Japan as part of the tour too. You can then minimize all your staff down too and therefore become sustainable and can allow house shows etc . . depending on business or for talent to work indies.

  4. Looking at a new smartphone to replace my S3. Similar functions as my s3 will be fine but something more up to date. Looking at an S5 but they seem huge, s5 mini seems a bit like my S3 so open to ideas. Looking to buy phone cash and stick with my £13 a month sim from 3 with 200 minutes and unlimited text and data but if anyone can point out a brilliant offer i'm game.

  5. I have the opportunity to become a contractor (IT based) for the next year and am trying to work through the pros and cons compared to bring an employee. I know a few people are here work as contractors in this way, can you help to clarify it for me?

    Cheers in advance.

As a member of staff who works with lots of contractors, I would say as a contractor all you are worried about is as long as the work comes in and the money earning potential for you is worth jumping from being a member of staff (No sick pay, holiday pay etc . . . . ) then go for it.

If I was a contractor, I could probably add about

  6. alter bridge really do deserve sevenfolds posistion at download. I cannot understand how a band that released an album which hasn't been greatly accepted be given this monster push to the moon and Alter Bridge be stuck subbing to Aerosmith when they can do a hour and half set with their eyes shut. And looking at sevenfolds current tour they are playing the same set over and over where at least Alter Bridge are listening to what the fans want and altering the setlist.

The only reason to knock Alter Bridge would be that Myles doesn't entertain as a frontman. But i'm sorry with the success of Fortress, it's not a justifiable answer. Hoping Areosmith pull from DL and Alter Bridge get bumped up.
