Has anyone watched anything on Prime since the adverts have started? I just wondered if it’s lots of adverts at the start and then uninterrupted show, or if there are adverts every 15 minutes through the show?

On the two shows Ive watched, it was adverts at the start of the show and then nothing afterward. Both times it was only around 40 seconds of ads too.

  2. Considering his age, Jericho took some insane bumps in that match. He got dropped on his head with a brainbuster on the concrete. The scary thing about AEW is that this was a throwaway move in the middle of the match, and he was up and running again a few seconds later. Those Blue Thunder Bombs, especially the top rope one, were nasty as hell too. Surely a concussion from that top rope one.

  3. Finished Silo, and enjoyed it immensely. Proper Lost vibes at points, which is a huge positive. They absolutley nailed the finale too. Cant wait to see what happens. Crazy to see Common be so good in it too. I used to listen to him alot back in the old days (the Be album was a favourate back then), so its great to see him be so good in this too. Great petrformances and stories throughout this! I hope they dont do a Lost and make a mess of it, but I assume as its from a series of books which have ended, then theres far less chance of that happening.

Also finished Lessons in Chemistry. Brie Larson is surely going to be the Sarah Snook of this years awards season. Considering how the strike will likely mean there wont be a huge amount of stuff coming out this year, she will surely win every Best Actress award for this show. Well deserved too, as she is unbelievably good. The show is outstanding, and I recommend everyone give it a watch. Episode 3 was one of the best things Ive watched in years too. If (like me) youre a dog owner, it will certainly be a very memorable episode.

On a side note, Hijack has been renewed for another season. Will be very interesting to see what they do for it. Surely they cant do another plane one, so will be interesting to see what the location will be.

  4. I agree with you Ebb. It was a very odd way of wording it, and I can see how it can be misunderstood. He is essentially moaning about having to do the interviews as he doesnt get paid for them, so he just threw that line in there.

I watched the show, but I cant really remember anything about it. The Apex factor just felt huge for me in this one for some reason. There was some OK stuff on it, but its just a bunch of random fighters, for the most part, fighting in an empty building. Just kills any sense of importance for me.

Sorry for the Meltzer post but you can see Dave just give up, his brain glossing over as Bryan tries to keep talking about the rankings.

Just a question, can anyone here make it through that whole clip without fast fowarding it? 12 minutes of them just listing people and Big Dave repeating the same thing over and over again. Even the most die hard AEW fan surely cant listen to this nonsense the whole way through.

They’ve updated the bout order. Blaydes vs Almeida demoted to the prelims, Yan vs Song gets promoted to main card opener. As it should be.

Great write up Wand! Whats going on with Pereira? A fairly well known name, on a 6 fight win streak, and slumming it on the early prelims when there wont be anyone in the building? Has he pissed off Uncle Dana?

  7. In terms of the American market, these guys are completley worthless. If they ask for six figures then Dana would tell them to piss right off. Cant even see Dana be willing to have a meeting about it, let alone even think about them coming in.

  8. Brets face says it all when Magny and Pennington (in a five rounder no less) at in the top half of a PPV. My main prediction from this one is that we will be calling that Pennington fight an early contender for worst fight of the year.

Unlike Al, I am actually looking foward to the main event. DDP is always must see, so am looking foward to him (hopefully) decking Strickland.

What's the "dark side" of The Sandman? I'm not aware of anything other than being a bit of a pisshead.

As shown by alot of the subject matters last season, they almost do straight biographies of people these days, which is what a Sandman one would seemingly be done like.

Beefcake, Race, Sandman and Bagwell all sound like they will be very bland episodes. Even Angle, whose discussed his problems ad nauseum, won't be treading any new ground with his one. Broke neck, 70 pills a day, etc etc.

They didn’t with Nakamura or Kushida or Tozawa, they didn’t with Io Shirai in NXT but then did on the main roster, and they did with Kairi immediately in NXT. So a bit of a mixture on the Japanese talents. There is also the fact that it’s not a Vince call now, and that HHH has rolled back some of the name changes that were Vince calls.

I reckon they’d keep the name in the current climate.

Maybe, but maybe TKO will be even more ruthless and protective of what they 'own' than what Vince was. You are well up on things these days, has there been many signings in the last 2 years who have kept their name? I don't follow it as much now, but I had the impression that it's pretty much a done deal that they always now want to own the name of the performer.

  11. Does he speak good English? Surely that's a huge thing for whether he goes to WWE or not. In AEW he won't need to speak English, but in WWE he absolutely would.

Also worth nothing he wouldn't be Okada in WWE, as he would definitely has his name changed.

  12. One for the random shit files. If anyone is interested in seeing Dana playing high limit blackjack then hes in a lot of the live streams this guy does:

    https://kick.com/stevewilldoit

Must be interesting for the fighters to watch Dana bet $30k a hand in Blackjack, and alot of the time playing 2 hands at a time. Multiple times hes paid off $100k debts of the guy who does the streams, and he tips the dealers $5k numerous times. Crazy stuff!

  13. Speaking of Taskmaster, its a shame that the New Years lot werent chosen for a full season, as they all seemed like they'd be a great. Deborah Meadon talking to a toaster was a classic. Ive never heard of Kojey Radical, but to have him only do one episode seems a travesty. Didnt think the last season of TM was up to much, and Julian Clary may be the most disappointing contestant ever, so hoping for good things from this one.

Someone on here years ago posted that they should widen the scope of guests, and I tend to agree. As the main format is starting to get a bit stale, they should mix it up one season and try a non comedian array of guests.

  14. Speaking of, to whoever brought up Slow Horses a while back, thanks! We have blitzed the first season in a week. Just a really fun show. Possibly the only show we actually watch the end credits as well, as the theme song is a cracker.

Apple TV surely has the best output of all the streamers these days. Well worth getting a few months subscription if you havent done so. They dont release a huge quantity of stuff, but nearly everything they do seems to be really good. Everything seems to be available in 4K for the standard price too, and I can definately see the quality diffference if Ive just watched something in HD on Netflix.

In the middle of Silo and Lessons in Chemistry, and am enjoying both alot too. Brie Larson is outstanding in Chemisty, and carries the whole show so well.

  15. Wasnt a bad card, all in all. Suprised that when it was only at the 2 hour mark, the main event was coming on, which helped alot. Some times these Apex shows head into 3 to 4 hour territory. Arlovski had the fight hes seemingly been having for 5 years, just a boring plodding sparring session. Amazing how he always seems to lull his opponents into this sort of fight. The Simon/Bautista fight was a cracker, and didnt hurt Bautistas rep at all. The Miller one was OK, as was the Hawes fight. Main event was short with a brutal KO. Couldnt really gauge much extra info on Ankalaev from the performance, as he was just scouting Walker in R1. He did that with impressive ease though, as Walker was coming at him aggrressively.

  16. Just on a tangent, but looking back at it, how disappointing (from a fans point) is it looking at Khabib and realising he's still only 35! I'm glad for him that he's happy to get out when he chose, but we've missed out on what would have probably been one of the greatest runs of all time since 2020.

  17. It popped up on my news feed that Darkside has been renewed for another season, and that it will be airing fairly soon. Most of last season's episodes were stinkers, but there were still a couple of good watches in amoungst the crap. What do people think are the best subjects that are yet to be covered? Heres a list of everything so far:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Side_of_the_Ring

As shown by the awful episodes they did last season (Abby, JYD, Bam Bam, Adonis), they will just do almost straight laced biographies on people who are not even contraversial, so I wonder what guys from the 80s/90s they could do an episode on this time. No one obvious that springs to mind. The news feed said that Buff Bagwell has said hes been filmed for it, but surely Buff isnt that interesting a topic for an episode.

  18. The UFC make so much money, and with the way the PPV deal they have is, I dont think theyre even that arsed about wanting to spend $5 million+ on one or two fighters. Like you said Wand, the card is a banger already. Just add one more marquee fight for it and I think theyll be done. Spending mega money on a fighter just doesnt seem the way they go these days, and if it is, itll be to impress the Abu Dhabi money guys

I sort of wish Lashley or Lesnar were bigger speakers as I'd love to learn more about their match and what happened.

Lesnar kept suplexing Lashley, and you could see Lashley getting more and more uncomfortable until he did start turning into the bump, taking it on his shoulder rather than across the flat of his back.

How did they get there? Why didn't Lashley communicate to do something else, or that he was being overshot onto his head and neck? Why did Lesnar hit so many suplexes even after Lashley started turning into them?

    Bizarre.

Dont think its all that hard to figure out. Lesnar hits a safe German Suplex, and then Lashley dumps him on his head with his German. The next couple of Lesnar Germans are noticibly different than that first one, where he doesnt release his hands and folds up Lashley with both. Probably just a reciept.

  20. Im more on the side of Wand in that they are scrambling for a big marquee match thats yet to be confirmed. I even think that they wont be too arsed if they cant get something gigantic for the show. I think the last MSG show, which they didnt load up on, and didnt even replace a Jon Jones fight with another big name, was quite telling. Its not as if they care about popping a big PPV buyrate any more, so it could end up being a decent show, and Dana complaining that some huge names 'let him down' and 'didnt want to fight'.

Yeah, I see him taking some damage in that. What is Weidman even trying to prove at this point?

Just checked, and his official pay for his last fight was $426,000. For current day UFC, thats a nice chunk of change that most dont make. To put it into perspective, he pretty much got paid (officially) the same as OMalley, Aljo and Zhang Weili on the same show. Hes sort of cashing in on his previous glories, so is probably hoping to bank those half a mill payouts for however many fights he has left on his contract. Cant blame him for that in my eyes.

Anyone got any recommendations for a decent budget sound bar? Want to get by dad one for his birthday. We recently got him Apple TV for Christmas so assume it will just link to that as the TV itself is relatively old now.

Which Apple TV did you get? You need to check if its got an optical output if you want to hook it straight up to the Soundbar. Soundbars usually connect to the HDMI Arc on the TV, which I assume his TV won't have if its old.

    This Creative one nearly always wins the best Soundbar under a hundred quid. Will massively boost the volume and clarity of the TV speakers;
