  1. The only match I've ever heard of being pre-recorded backstage and shown during a live event was the Undertaker Vs. Mankind, Boiler Room Brawl match, where they showed a 20 minute or so video of taped action and then they fought through the curtain and did the closing sequence live.

Dustin V Piper at Wrestlemania involved car chases etc, so obviously that fits too. There's also an Uncensored ('95?), is it a Bunkhouse Stampede match? Anyway it's Dustin again V Barry Darsow fighting on a truck. Filmed at different times because it flicked between day/night.Having said that, the backstage brawls during the Attitude era(which I'm sure you were referring to), I think were mostly done live.
  2. WCW NitroWCW ThunderWCW Saturday NightWCW WorldwideWCW Main EventWere there anyother WCW tv shows in the history of the company?

WCW Power HourWCW Clash of the ChampionsThere was also the WCW lucha-based show which I can't remember the name of.
What about WCW Pro? Or was that just another name for Main Event?
  3. What was the story about Mean Gene going to WCW in 1993? Was he fired, or did he leave on his own accord?Cheers brahs.

Why did you decide to go to WCW in the first place?

"My contracted had ended with the WWF in September of 1993, and at that time I had some philosophical differences including with Vince McMahon as great minds don't think alike or whatever the case may be. I thought it was time for a change after ten years in the same position and doing the same thing, and perhaps the best thing would be to move on. "I read that as Vince said we don't really want you anymore.
  4. MurderballA documentary about wheelchair rugby, focusing on members of the USA and Canada teams. Everyone should see this. It's funny, depressing, touching, eye-opening and heartwarming all at once. Just incredible viewing.

I saw this in the cinema, I thoroughly recommend it too!
  5. Yes. I think it was Booker T he won it from, then he vacated it.

Russo defeated Booker T on 25th September 2000, only to vacate it the following week on 2nd October, when he decides he is not a wrestler.
It was in a cage match, first to leave the cage wins the belt. Goldberg sneaks into the cage. Just as Booker T is stepping out the cage(to win the cage), Russo is speared through the cage first. It was quite a good spot actually.
  6. On some occaisons they do. It might vary due to time, like they need to save time so they send them all out at once, ot it's the main event and ther's still an hours to go so everyone goes out individually to kill time. Also wrestlers entrance themes get bigger pops than most of the actual wrestling does, so they do it to give the fans what they want.

Also, I thought it was because they didn't know how to act. Usually each wrestler has his own characteristcs coming down the aisle, walking fast or slow, posing, talking to camera etc. Whenever I see 6+ who aren't part of a group appear at once, it always looks as if they are a little uncomfortable. Even when Evolution appeared together, it never seemed right each wrestler just wanting down the aisle, with none of their poses.
  7. It makes sense to push an event(BFG in their case) as your 'big' event of the year. If you can also push your anniversary, that means you have two big shows rather than one. TNA don't have the history of Wrestlemania, Summerslam's etc, so they have to tell us, any filmsy excuse will do.

  8. battle royale: I heard about it, but when I finally got round to seeing it it was different to what I'd imagined. Although, some of the dialogue was unintentionally hilarious ("you're so cool") I just put that down to the bad translating and over all it was a good movie.

I always thought that was the point, using dialogue schoolkids would use. One of my favourite parts is the dramatic music being played, and the girl is there, some dude is like "I always wanted to pump you", she's like "you should have said - I always liked you!", is the typical teen who-fancies-who dilemma with alot of them being shy.
  9. I've only seen the Roberts one. As you may expect, he tells stories very well and the stories themselves are very interesting. The documentary part seems longer than most. Alot of it reveals stories about his family, and how he battled with his problems. By far and away the best WWE documentary I've seen.As for the matches you'll know what to expect. Massive thumbs up for the documentary, mild thumbs down for the matches. Don't let that put you off tho - something like Jake's DVD should really be based on his history and storytelling. I would have liked to have seen his time in Mexico in '94 documentated, but there's no stories/matches about it.

  10. MI:3Everything about it was 'quite good', but no better. All the actors and performers were adequate, it looked impressive and the storyline was easy to follow. However it just gave me a "why bother?" opinion leaving the film. There's no twists or turns, nothing to make you think, no outstanding plotline to carry the film, and no emotional involvement with the characters.

  11. If I remember correctly, Ricky Steamboat said in his shoot interview that Savage demanded they plan their Wrestlemania match down to the last move, and made a numerical list that they both memorised, starting with 1. Lock up......

Savage did this alot. Supposedly he sat down with the Warrior and basically told the Warrior move-for-move what was going to happen. I wouldn't bet against Wrestlemania 5 being the same way. Also it's been noted Hogan/Warrior was move for move. I've heard Triple H/Batista at WM was planned heavily.I've heard on house shows and suchlike they just arrange the finish. It may need to be a little more planned out for TV shows with the less experienced wrestlers, although I don't think Triple H V Flair on Raw, go out there for 12 minutes needs that much planning.I remember reading an interview with Lance Storm. Was a show in Canada, someone was injuried so he was pushed up the card and was gonna wrestle Eddie. He'd never wrestled with him before, barely knew him, so Eddie just said "I'll go the heel tonight, we'll finish with <whatever>, enjoy it tonight". And with that they went out there.
  12. What's an urinage?I'd recommend picking up some Nitro DVDs if you can, they usually put more effort into that than the PPVs. Some good PPV events are Fall Brawl '97 & Spring Stampede 99. Best period probably 97-98. If you're interested in the wacky Russo 2000 version, there's a great "Death of WCW" set of video files which I downloaded, they will be floating around the net somewhere.

  13. How did Larry Zybysko become so over in WCW? I always remember the 'Larry, Larry!' chants whilst watching Nitro, I'm re-watching some shows from early '98, and he's more over than the majority of the current WWE roster. I realise WCW was hot in this period, but why was Larry so popular? As far as I can see, he's not done much in the ring, and although he talks tough, he's not exactly brilliant on the mic either.2nd Question: How many of Ric Flair's world titles has he won with his finishing move? Just thinking about it, there doesn't seem that many.Race - Crossbody BlockGarvin - Think it was just a pinSteamboat - Rollup after his knee buckledRumble VictoryVader - definitely not figure fourSavage WCW - Brass KnucklesJarrett - Small package. The only ones that spring to mind are Savage in WWF, which I believe he used brass knuckles then applied the figure four. Hogan '99, where he used a tire iron, then applied figure four. Can anyone help out with the rest, specifically Japanese changes??

  14. If someone his acting up, they have an unofficial lockerroom 'court' to deal with them. A relatively reason one was the other Diva's complaining that Melina was being stuck up to them. They'd give her a 'trial' then the punishment. Major players in this 'court' are JBL(the judge I believe), Undertaker, Holly and even Benoit. It's often required if someone young has an attitute about them, or to teach OVW guys a lesson. It can involve doing menial tasks for the other wrestlers, to getting a JBL initiation in the group(soaped up in the showers). It's basically 'the boys' way of keeping themselves in line.Edit: I found this explanation in PWInsider:

I wanted to ask about this strange term that heard on a wrestling radio show. What exactly is "Wrestler's Court"? It was never explained.

"Basically, when two wrestlers had a dispute with each other, to settle the matter they would go to "wrestler's court" where a group of their peers would listen to the story, and then hand down a "judgment" that the wrestlers involved then had to follow. It was a way for the wrestlers to settle disputes amongst themselves. Mick Foley has an interesting story about how he and Al Snow had to go to "Wrestler's Court" after they abandoned Bob Holly (who was traveling with them) because they wanted to go to an amusement park. The "court" decided that Foley & Snow would have to pay for Holly's travel and meal expenses as punishment for what they did. "
  15. What happened to Cade & Murdoch?

They mentioned on an online segment that they've split. One(sorry I can't remember which one), was given a gimmick where he was a film reviewer. He said how Brokeback Mountain moved him, etc, setting up a gay cowboy gimmick. I believe this was Murdoch, but only because his name would suit it, rather than being able to distinguish them. This was almost directly after they lost the tag belts. Why makes you wonder what the point was!Edit: PWI. I believe all PWI interviews up until '97 were kayfabed and totally made up, without even the person being notified about it. NWA/WCW and WWE had an agreement with Apter he could do this, as he'd only build up fueds, you rarely see anyone getting a slagging or negative write-up through. I last bought PWI in around '98, I'd assume you could only stay in a kayfabe-bubble for so long. I would be astonished if it's still written in kayfabe. King Cobra - what's the delay like in issues? Before monthly PPV's they could keep up, but after that it would have been a mess. In '94/95 the issues were literally 3-4 months behind what was actually happening, and most of the articles consisted of 'What Ifs', i.e. wrestlers joining together, possible main events way in the future, like I.C. Champ fighting with World Champ(but no sign of this on TV).
