Fair enough but I'm sure you'll recognise that this is being closely associated with unemployed people on benefits, fuelling more prejudice against that group in general, regardless of whether they're involved or not.
Â
There is prejudice against everyone, that's life. I have called these people scum from day one much to your annoyance and yet my dad is a longtime unemployed person on benefits.
Â
I think to most people it's pretty simple. If you smash up the neighbourhood, burn things down and steal your scum. There is no good reason for it.
Â
If i may steal a post i read on another forum from another former Tottenham resident ...
Â
Peope are reading way too much into this. Saturdays problem in Tottenham was a peaceful protest 'hijacked' by some lowlife criminals. The Police's reaction wasn't 'frim' enough because they are afraid to be 'heavyhanded' after the g20 crap, other lowlifes have seen the reaction of the Police and have taken advantage. this isn't about 'bankers bonuses', bored teenagers or a society wit an 'alienated generation'. It's organised crime with people following the crowd, answers to this problem will never be available, the simplest answer when asked why they're doing it is "Because I can". If the Police had been forcefull in Tottenahm we wouldn't be where we are now. But I fully understand why they weren't.Â
Pretty much sums it up for me.

cheers for that mate never knew about that channel
Â
It's superb. He was pulling up right next to rioters as they were being arrested.
-
If you're going on the rob you want the latest fashions, not that pikey Lonsdale shite.
Â
They do Tapout now.
-
Oh dear BBC saying the EDL are trying to match from Eltham to Lewisham. Heard they were in Enfield too.
-
EDIT - quoted the wrong post.
Â
In Enfield it appear a stand off appeared to have happened between the vigilantes and the police but it died down.
-

Channel 847 being awesome still.
Â
Sikh's protecting a hindu temple and the channel speaking about a UNITED kingdom. They're right in the thick of it but trying to remain positive.
-
Really not sure what to make of that to be honest.
Â
Had a heated discussion with a bloke at work today. He started really going off on one about how they are scum, started effing and blinding which is unusual of him. Then he shouted "They need to send them back home". I had to stop him right there and remind him that from what I've seen, these are British people rioting and that it was a bit of a xenophobic thing to say. He said "British? Look at their faces". Was little point wasting my time further with someone of that opinion.
Â
Well sadly it was always going to attract the skinhead element. Just another result of the police being so toothless about the whole thing. It's absurd though as i bet for every black lad from Tottenham doing it there is a white one from Cheshunt.

Why is it Al Jazeera, I shit you not, are one of the few press outlets to give such a sensible view on the underlying causes of what is in essence collective temporary insanity?
Â

Â
Because they employed an author with views similar to your own?

He's only two feet from home base. What a wuss.
Â
Second ago he was speeding down the road chasing a chav as the police tried to arrest him!
-
I'm hooked on channel 847, it's brilliant!
-
Because, like I have explained twenty fucking times, it is down to MORE CHANCE of being involved in crime, not a fucking certainty! Why do you think the middle class kids from the leafy suburbs aren't out there? It's just beyond me that you could have no comprehension of this.
Â
You have no proof of that statement.
-
Not as much as you obviously. Which is strange seeing as you seem to have no idea of the unemployment gripping your own borough and other surrounding areas.
I have every idea thankyou.
Â
You don't seem to realise just how big London is. When i lived there if i had restricted myself to looking at Haringay and neighboring places i would have found it 10x more difficult to find work.
Â
I also know from spells of unemployment myself that most of it was due to being young and lazy. Another thing i have first hand see is that many of the gangs have no intention of working unless it involves them being either a musician or a multi millionaire immediately.
-
Mate, I'm not about to go through every frigging borough.

Â
Genuine question. Have you spent much time in London?
-
From the Haringey Independent in June.
Â
Â
Â
I think I have just responded. In terms of there being 'plenty of jobs available', I'm sorry, but that is complete and utter bollocks.
Â
It's in LONDON.
-
Whiskey is on Sky news right now.
-
The money should come from corporation tax and similar strategies. Not from people who can hardly afford to live. Also, I'm not sure what counter points you are referring to, other than people saying everyone has the same opportunity which is simply wrong.
Â
It's not wrong i know first hand it isn't wrong and his right you pick and choose. Saying other boroughs are just as poor as absurd. Have you ever even been to London? Do you realise how big it is and yet so easy to get around.
-
-
Nothing in Cameron's statement that hasn't been said by the Home secretary or the Met DAC this morning.
Â
Toothless. Very real chance he could go over this. He seems to have no idea how to get control back.
-
Where have I said anyone who comes from a poor area turns out to be a criminal?
Â
Jesus christ man.
Â
You have spent this whole thread going on about the cause. How poor people with no opportunites etc etc. I've told you numerous times of first hand experience in London (i accept smaller cities are different) that there are opportunities in London and there are most definately jobs you have haven't acknowledged it once. The root causes of this, the poor areas, ghettos, whatever you may think is all fine and good but your ignore the millions of people who come out of those areas and would never ever do something like this and work hard in normal jobs to improve their lives.
Â
Your argument about causes could be carried on to rapists, murderers anything but at the end of the day you will always have people who want for whatever reason to break the law and they need to be punished because people are losing everything.
-
Must just be pure chance that they end up like this then. No reason behind it at all. What a load of bollocks - you're so blinkered it's untrue.
Â
That would be you.
Â
By your thinking anyone who comes from a poor area has to turn out a criminal. Luckily for me i didn't because i'd hate people like you making excuses for me being a cunt.
-
And you wonder why we have problems.
Â
No i don't, i know why we have problems and i accept that no matter how hard you try there will always be problems. That's life. But anyone who loots, burns down business' and homes is a moron.
-
As I said before......If you truly believe you've got nothing to lose why not?
Â
And as i've said seemingly a million times this isn't about them having nothing. There sent to normal schools which ok aren't as good as some but there is nothing to stop them working hard, they also get offered the same schemes as everyone outside the city when they leave.
Â
In London this is especially annoying. Why? Well if a kid in Liverpool says there are no jobs i might believe him, if one says there are none in Tottenham i'd also believe him luckily for him though Tottenham is in London one of the biggest cities in the world a place where if you want work you will get it.
Â
From my experience of dealing with these gangs they have 2 ambitions. One to be a rapper and if that doesn't work to be a gangster. Jobs are for pussies.

Hmm told you i wasn't educated very well!
Â
As for prejudice well i think it's human nature and why of course as people we should try and eliminate it, people will always have their own prejudices even if they don't like to admit it. Look at the stick Mickey gets and yet i don't recall him meeting every single EDL stereotype most people have, his just a bit deluded.
Â
Anyway's on a sad note...
Â
Â
Shameful.
