  1. If you're regularly training than you shouldn't be looking to massively cut carbs at all. Quite the opposite. Same for fats actually. Your bodies require protein, carbohydrates, EFAs (fats) to operate at an optimal level. Yes, protein is essential and top priority, but the others are essential too. The idea that many have that carbs = fat and a diet of protein + no carbs is the way is absolute nonsense

Absolutely cut out sugar, sugar has no nutritional value whatsoever and will do nothing but spike your insulin and put fat on you.

  2. Angle went 3 times at King of the Ring 2001, vs Christian, Edge and then the street fight with Shane. Think they were all a fair length as well. Christian was shortish but surely the other two were given a bit of time?

Didn't Bret and Michaels go longer than Reys 62 mins at WrestleMania XII? How long did the restart go, was it less than 2? Must be close.

  3. Can't tell if neil's just hopped on the banter bus with that last comment but if he's talking truth then it definitely cancels out Lads claims.

Why do I associate Indie Lad with Mr. Seven? I'm thinking I once thought they were one and the same, or did they have some beef?

  4. Funny you mention that, as I was only thinking about that myself earlier today. It was the first WrestleMania (and PPV) I had the luxury of staying up for and watching live, having got SKY in late '95 and i'm pretty sure it fell at the beginning of the Easter holidays. Vividly remember that day and staying up for it and the excitement I had. Sitting down for Sunday Roast, my brother mentioning it was on and deciding we were going to stay up and watch it (which i'd decided long ago). Our front room was being done up at the time and had no carpet and really old crappy furniture. I made myself an awesome sandwich just before the main event. Always remember those things in particular and wondering who the fuck the Headbangers were during the first match, but quite liking them but my brother deciding the 10 minute freeview should take precedence. And loving Piper-Goldust, Diesel-Undertaker and yeah, the main event. Amazing how everything blew up over the next few years. That was the main thing that seemed to enter my mind when I thought of it earlier and for some reason thinking how the nWo and Hogan turning heel hadn't occurred at this time yet. Always associated 1996 with where things really started to happen, the big events that would really cause the landscape to change over the next few years. WrestleMania XII was one of those pivotal points. The seeds planted for Brets heel turn, Diesel and Razor on their way out, Michaels first title reign. Really exciting times as a kid. The fact that someone born on that day would now be 18 is quite frightening.

  5. I was never that crazy about Trish. Except for that time her and Terri had a super soaker wet t-shirt contest and I damn near tore my cock right off in anticipation of Trish getting soaked, before that planet of the apes cunt Jazz ruined it all.

She's fucking lovely as a brunette yoga girl though.

  6. Great little post there Black2. I echo many of your sentiments there and some of Generators too. It's forgotten now with how many were turned off the show by the end, but those first couple of years were incredible. You were so invested in these characters and their stories and the mystery of the island and constantly desperate for more. The 1st season is undoubtedly the finest debut season of any show ever for me. Just perfectly paced. Come the end of that season (and then the stunning beginning of season 2, which completely exceeded my anticipations) I was completely gripped and in love with the show like no other before it or since. I agree that when an end date was set was what seemed to actually fuck it. Like Generator I struggled with the beginning of Season 3, the show seemed a bit um, lost and lacking a clear direction, but really I just horribly missed the hatch. But come the end of season 3 that had me right back with them, particularly with the very last episode which remains the finest episode of television and the most incredible watching experience of a television episode I've ever had. Amazing what a journey it took you on. Never known a show to produce so many iconic characters too.

I also enjoyed Iain Lees podcast and me and my brother share countless regular quote references from it. Most seem to come from Jack shouting though. "YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU'RE RUNNING FROM!" and like yourself the "Why do you find it so hard to believe?", "Why do you find it so easy!?" "IT'S NEVER BEEN EASY!" exchange.

    Ten years though, fuck.

Admittedly, I've still got to finish:

The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones and give Spartacus and The Wire a go and as much as I love what I've seen of those shows nothing has grabbed me quite like Lost did and I do miss that a bit.

  7. He can do really good promos as well. He did some great stuff on NXT and, although it was in a different context, his Team Hell No stuff and that confrontation with The Rock was excellent. He's just repeating the same old shit now.

Yeah, I really liked his bit with The Rock. I thought he was utterly fantastic in that. He said to Rock 'Somehow, someway come the Royal Rumble, i'll be the WWE champion' with such conviction I was inclined to believe him. People seemed to hate that whole segment in general at the time and thought it was burying Bryan. I loved it personally, felt like a real moment of different eras meeting and thought it went a long way in nudging D-Bry towards that next level.

I'm not a fan of him being presented as a moanyarse like CM Punk to get his title shots and hate his goofy smiling along with the crowd, he is pretty capable on the mic and had some really decent bits when heel.

  8. Although Iuns points on Triple H vs DB+ happening are very true, their interaction this week was also very much Bryan saying, every time I have the title or i'm about to have the title you fuck me over in some way because you think i'm not good enough and not worthy of being your champion, to prove myself I will beat you, the King of Kings himself and once I do that and have proved that I'm better than even you, you can't tell me i'm not WWE World Champion material. That's how Bryans message came across to me. Which leaves it open for him to be inserted into the title match upon beating Tripper but could also just lead into Extreme Rules I guess. I like Pitocs' idea of Triple H fucking him up post match with a sledgehammer.

Anyway, cracking show this week. That felt like a proper Road to WrestleMania Raw that we should be getting at about this time. Good shit. Perfect crowd manipulation, great shit with the Heyman bit, really liked the story there. And Triple H and Stephanie were sensational throughout. Chris Bs point about the crowds big thing is 'lets cheer for the goodies and boo the baddies' is so very true. Which is why I don't particular mind this whole situation too much. It's given somewhat of a sense of kayfabe and markdom back to wrestling. They wanted to shit on matches that had no consequence, which is actually fair enough as it happens far too often. They got that well wrong though, attempting to shit on Sheamus vs Christian which was actually a nifty little match and was leading somewhere, sort of. Vince blatantly getting in JBLs ear did amuse me too, I bet he proper can't stand the yellow rat faced bastard. The match of no consequence was in fact Ziggler vs Del Rio. Nice move by WWE putting Dolph in this spot, that was a big fuck you to the fans that I don't think they realised, not getting a celebrity rub, rather just having his time used to shill Need for Speed.

Shield and Wyatts do it again. That match and how it played out was booked perfectly. Loved the twist of Rollins having enough of being peacekeeper. Someone mentioned (rick I think) that Reigns was wrong for being annoyed at Ambrose initially getting involved. Not really, Ambrose has previous for doing that when his mate was in control and causing a loss. Reigns weren't prepared to let it happen again. Just loved the story of this match, utterly perfect for The Shield story progression. I fucking love these lads, I desperately don't want to see them go but I also want to see their careers flourish individually. Part of me would absolutely love them to continue on as a face unit but I think that not happening would make a potential reuniting some time in the distant future all the more special. I'd be well up for Shield vs Evolution post-Mania though. Agree wasn't keen on Rollins top rope spot being repeated but other than that Rollins was tremendous here throughout. Loved that when he left the match how Ambrose and Reigns suddenly put all their shit aside and came together. Ambrose holding one of the Wyatts in position and calling for Regins sweet apron dropkick signifying that. Great moment there. Almost as if Rollins actions actually solved the issue that caused him to walk away to begin with. Loved all this shit hard and long and all over the fucking place.

In comparison, despite his welcoming of a new age and insisting they must go through him first, Cena actually felt so very insignificant here and as if that time is already upon us. 2014 could be a very interesting year for how the main event scene develops.

  9. The half arsed joining the Wyatts for a week was mental. It served no purpose for Bryan or The Wyatts.

    It did wonders for both.

Hunter seems to have had a whale of a time at his smarmy best with lines like

    'Solid B star'

    'great little worker'

    and of course

    'you're not worthy of me'

Indeed he is and rightly so, it's worked wonderfully in riling up fans in the right way and getting those same fans more and more behind Danny B+. I get Iuns point, but the reason why this works and why D-Bry isn't coming across as moanyarse whinger is because he is completely representing the opinion the WWE Universe already have. He is the voice of the voiceless. They are very much living vicariously through him as he vents their frustrations and the Yes/No chants are a great way of doing that and telling that story and showing their massive support. Also, D-Bry has always prided himself on being a wrestler, getting shit done in the ring because that's what this is all about and he believes and the fans believe he's fucking good at that shit. That's been the story with him ever since the weak link stuff and that character has been stayed true to. Jumping whoever would be uncharacteristic of this Daniel Bryan, he wants to prove himself in the ring and he continuously does so. He knows he can and should be WWE World champion and wants to do it the right way no matter how much injustice he is faced with and the fans respect the shit out of him for it. He also knows he can beat Triple H and deep down Triple H (and maybe Shawn Michaels) know it too. Triple H laughs it off and claims he only wrestles A+ players these days, but he knows Daniel is good and wouldn't dare embarrass himself by entertaining the idea of wrestling him or letting him feature in something big at WrestleMania because he's not the sort of guy he wants representing the company.

The booking of the Rumble and Batista may not have been intentional in building Danny Bry and further developing the story but it's worked majestically in doing so and I think they are going to run with the obvious story, just not make that obvious quite yet. WrestleMania XXX has to end with the happy Christmas time ending. That's WrestleMania tradition but particularly at WMX and WMXX in a similar vein to Daniel Bryans story. The happy Christmas time ending has to be Daniel Bryan finally winning the WWE World title proper. I actually think Batista vs Orton vs Bryan is the absolute perfect way for this to go, now especially with the reactions all three men have been getting. Batista being brought in as Triple Hs other perfect face of the company and ensuring both of them feature in his WrestleMania main event by nefarious means and ensuring Daniel Bryan couldn't get in there by doing it through his undeniable abilities. I see Triple H somehow being goaded into the match through a double stipulation of some kind if DB loses that suits Trips and DB getting in the title match if he wins and some comments by Shawn Michaels getting in Triple Hs head and affecting his decision too. Or something like that.

Whether intentional or not, they've stumbled upon a perfect story. A perfect WrestleMania story. Everything that happened Monday tells me it's leading to that story being realised.

  10. Yeah, as a couple of others have touched upon, glad neither team has really shown proper cowardice and they're all for fucking each other up. Bray has been all 'I welcome this war!' and even Harper and Rowans talking bits have been really nice and added to it. The Wyatts trying to get in their heads while The Shield lads (particularly Reigns) are like, 'c'mon then, lets go, let's do this'. And the Wyatts response is basically 'You sure? You realise you will fucking die, it'd be in your best interests to fucking well run. But if you insist, we'll happily be the ones to end you'. Brays backing out and pulling his boys back hasn't been running scared more 'wait lads, no, not yet. It's not time. You'll know when it's time'. Simple and effective and has made both sides look dynamite. What happens in the match and the resulting fallout will be interesting. I imagine it'll set up Reigns vs Ambrose vs Rollins for 'Mania somehow but I'm almost disappointed these guys feuding will probably be a one off and done and dusted after Sunday as they move onto other issue for 'Mania.

  11. Have to echo the love for The Shield-Wyatts segments of the last couple of weeks. I gushed over it last weeks and its little touches and there was just the right level of progressed touches this week. I love this feud, but I also wish it was taking place at WrestleMania. It's blatantly 'Mania worthy. I guess it still could happen there with an added gimmick, I doubt it will mind, but really their first encounter really belongs at 'Mania. I really like this feud coinciding with Reigns rise, I think it's really adds another layer to that story and is providing a greater longevity. I love that that Ambrose and Reigns have their thing, but in the sign of a big threat and potential war they stand very much united and The Shield appear as solid as a force as ever. That its always Reigns confidently and surely leading the charge overflowing with braun is great for his slow transition to face. Someone else mentioned that Rollins is coming across as the most babyface because Reigns comes across heely for his petty oneupmanship with Ambrose. Not at all. On Smackdown the other week Reigns dominantly got the job done and the match won and he tagged out to Ambrose to let him pick up the scraps and take the victory as he's always so desperate to and chuckled at the fact that he does. Reigns is just completely confident in himself and backs up it all up with pure animalistic destruction. And he's loyal to his boys. Reigns is being booked fantastically thus far. How can you not cheer him. It'll probably blow up at 'Mania and I think against Wyatts could have been the ideal scene for it, but really I think it had the potential to go on and be teased even longer. Probably best to strike while hot though and let it happen at the big stage, his booking would probably lose form if dragged out longer.

Anyway, absolutely love that image of the two units opposed on opposite sides of the ring. Like Iun, that's the shit I really love in wrestling. Two major, over acts having an electric confrontation.

  12. I loved Bearers Attitude era transformation. I thought it was perfect and that he was an incredible heel. He'd never have been taken seriously as his previous version and you could completely buy into the idea that this disgusting, vile bloke kept Undertakers little brother locked up for years and brain washed him. Brilliant re-imagining of the character and just a brilliant character in general.

  13. You're definitely not the only one NEWMson. I'm exactly the same on all that. The imagery wrestling can create is one of the things I enjoy about it most. Whenever something like Old School Raw or MSG Raw comes around its exciting just because things will look different and feel like a different setting. There's been some tours WWE have done over the last decade that have looked fascinating just because the country provided a different backdrop.

I'm with you on the time thing too. I often think about that and it always blows my mind to think about the same timespan just at different points in WWE. The 90s in particular. 92-97 are night and day, worlds apart yet 2008 - 2013 doesn't seem nearly as different. Even 97-2000 or for that matter 98/99 - 2002/2003. So much shit happened in those years and things moved so fast it's just fucking insane to think about and comprehend it now. That shit fascinates me really. Kofi may well have excelled being around at that time, who knows? If Mr. Perfect was around now he could just as easily be WWE World title material as he could be lost in the shuffle and wrestling nothing matches each week. Everyone says how nobody these days is as good as the guys of the past. That isn't always true. Del Rio is fucking good, he's a fantastic wrestler and he was really hot for a bit, Ryback was super hot for a bit. They could have caught on, Del Rio could have been a real top heel. Booking and timing are everything in making it big in WWE. But yeah, Cenas Rumble return was 6 fucking years ago now!? WrestleMania XX was 10 years ago. How is that possible!!? When you think of the time Cena has been on top it's incredible really. I think a lot of things changed about ten years ago when the likes of Cena and Orton made the main event at such a young age. They've been around forever. They have nowhere to go but to end up against each other and feuding over the belt again eventually because of WWEs booking style today and endless amount of product to produce. I remember reading that Bret Hart only won his first WWF title when he was 35. Before Rock and Brock I think almost all WWF champions were well into their 30s. Today, that would be considered a reason to not push an unestablished act into a main event angle. But, yeah...Cena at the Rumble in 2008 was 6 years ago. That feels like 2 months ago. Six more years and Royal Rumble 2000 is 20 years old. Absolutely fucking terrifying.

  14. I remember reading an interview years back with Kane and him talking about how he became popular and kids loved him because he looked like a superhero. I'm with you on that Mr Bollocks. I've long said that wrestling for me, how I see it and how I think it's at is best is comic book come to life. That's blatantly how the two booms were. And loads of the really successful Japanese lads and most of Mexico look like something straight out of a comic book. And that stuff almost always grabs the attention of people who aren't even wrestling fans and has them interested. WWE definitely don't take enough advantage of that these days.

Seriously, ideally I'd just dress Reigns up like Khal Drogo. I've longed for that ever since Harmonic once mentioned it. I'd probably rip it off almost to the level Sting did The Crow. It still falls down a bit on exactly what he'd wrestle in, but he'd look the business on his entrance. I'd definitely have him ride in on a horse at a 'Mania like Taker was apparently going to a few years back.

  15. I wouldn't want him full on Samoan like that! He'd look class in a Nation of Domination style outfit I reckon, like black but with some Samaon tribal. Tights in a similar vein to how his current outfit sits. But I suppose Nig E (unintentional typo but i'm keeping it) already has similar and as I'm sure they're destined to have a long history together against each other that probably isn't the best option.

  16. I might be imagining it as I can't find it but I'm sure Reigns had some neat music in NXT as 'The Thoroughbred' which had the sound of galloping horses or similar.

Reigns is probably the trickiest on the post Shield clobber. He's perhaps the one who could get away with keeping his Shield gear (as it suits him so well and looks so badass) but he probably will have to change and I can only really think trunks for him. Definitely not tassels though and I think he needs to keep away from jackets and shit too. Probably Goldberging him is the way forward - no-nonsense taking care of business style. I wouldn't mind him adding some nod to his Samoan roots though. Agree with Goosh he should keep those sweet wrist pads. Really, I'd like him made up like Khal Drogo. I'd watch Raw with a ferocious boner every week if that was to happen.

Rollins will be alright, he had nifty gear in FCW and NXT and I imagine will revert back to similar. Which suits him, especially as an IC level baby face which I think will be his natural position initially post Shield. I still think Rollins will be the real surprise, he's got just as bright a future as any of them. I can't see Ambrose going to much different than his FCW clobber either. Leather jacket/trench coat and trunks. Definitely shouldn't stay with his current stuff as some have suggested though. Not a fan of that at all and hate that he's ditched the flak jacket when the others still rock it.

  17. Love the booking of Reigns at the moment. Lots of perfect little things, like him being the first one to get into the ring after Wyatts came out. Then first to climb on the apron and then first to get in the ring. Especially when Rollins & Ambrose held back a bit at that point. He looked ace.

Yeah, this. That segment was magic and those little touches were lovely. Reigns and The Shield angle is being handled tremendously thus far, easily the strongest aspect of the show right now. And if Reigns is being groomed for a big babyface spot, those little touches will go a long way. The crowd were eating up him leading the charge, he's come across there as loyal to his mates in times of war and full of courage and aggression. Loved Rollins and Ambrose only stepping in once Bray stepped back out. Note perfect. I love Reigns so hard, he can easily become the man that every man watching wants to be and WWE haven't really had that in someone for a while.

Loving the feud between the Wyatts and The Shield, really simple but really exciting. That Wyatt six man was awesome this week and that Sister Abigail finish on Rey was lovely. Do wish this was leading in to a match at WrestleMania rather than Elimination Chamber though.

I mentioned it in another thread and hope it's leading this way, this show pointed in that direction - that Batista is the man Trips really wants to be face of WWE and Batista plays less babyface to the crowd leading into 'Mania and Orton loses the plot more and more. And somehow Bryan gets inserted in to the main event as a triple threat or straight up wins the chamber for a one on one match. I can see Kane costing Bryan at the Chamber though and then the next night on Raw, a new babyface authority figure is introduced (after Steph and Trips have been reviewed) and makes Kane vs Bryan with Bryan entering the WWE World title match if he wins.

On the Cena removing himself from the rest of the lads all the time, he may have his own room but he trains with the other guys all the time. He regularly hits a gym in whtever area they're in with Cesaro, Rollins and even the big Bulgarian from NXT who was in the Rumble.
