  1. Why is Jay Phoenix now called James Wallace? slightly confused by that

Because Steve Corino and Samoa Joe gave the guy such a bad rep he had to change his name?

So they haven't had a match then!Oh hang on they Main evented Wrestlemania 2 years ago, oh no that was me playing Smackdown vs Raw 2006!

I think you may have misunderstood what Ron was saying - they did have a match but it was at a video games expo as opposed to being on a show.
I saw that match recently, Jericho and Victoria vs Rey and Trish. Certainly one of the strangest bouts I've seen to this day.
  2. Also worth watching is his feud with The Juice in GPW that took place throughout 2007 and culminated in a terrific Los Sanchos Street Fight. I dont think Ligero has had a bad match all year so he def deserves a top 10 spot.

  3. Personally I think its not only awful that people actually want a murderers money but the parents of Nancy want it. I really dont get why they feel they need money to make up for their loss (did her life only mean that much to them), its not going to bring her back, only way to get over it is to grieve properly. In addition to that its even more distressing for me that Nancys parents want the money and dont want Benoits other kids to have it. I would rather see the money be used to benefit those who truely deserve it and so that it can also be put to good use and some slight good can come from it all.At the end of the day...Benoits kids having a decent start in life > Nancys parents being better off

  4. What's the story behind some people always writing Simmonz on here as "SIMMONZ!!"?

Probably to do with the SIMMONZ (like Goldberg) chant at FWA shows, he was very popular back in the day.
  5. Yeah, UK Hatman... I suggest that you move the rankings around to suit people's personal preferences more closely. As for me, my ranking of these guys goes:Dave MoralezMadman MansonDarksideJay PhoenixSo there you go.

Surely changing the order of people around makes a mockery of the the voting system? I mean if this is who people voted for then thats who they voted for, its democracy after all.
  6. I wouldnt say Mero looks like a tranny, he reminds me more of Jack Nicholsons Joker in the original Batman. If anything though, Mero shouldnt really be the spokesperson, Lance Storm should, hes clean, hes proven its possible to have a wrestling career without needing to take drugs. There needs to be more focus on the wrestlers who did get through their careers without taking drugs instead of tarring every wrestler with the same brush.

  7. I thought it meant they should be tested as a normal sport, even though steroids dont help wrestlers improve, as it's not a real sport.

They improve you physique though, and we've seen countless times over the years that Physique>Talent. Having a monstrous physique that can normally only be cause by steroids has gotten many talentless bums to the very top of the mountain, while guys with the 10 times the in-ring talent, but the body of your average guy on the street, have been stuck rotting away in the Indies for their entire careers. You can't say after looking at the amount of green muscleheads pushed to the moon over the past decade that WWE don't pretty much 'encourage' their guys to reach for the juice. I know guys that have been told they'll get a chance with them if they get bigger, when they've pretty much already reach the limit to how big their bodies will get.
That's true but that's not what im saying, the reason they are going after real sports is because the athletes are cheating at a sport and should be clean, the result of a wrestling match does'nt really matter, nobody is betting on it or anything.WWE should be trying to get rid of drugs for the wrestlers safety, not because they are cheats. They should be able to suspend or fire guys, if they fail a drug test, just like I would be sacked if I failed a drug test, at my work. The US government is going to make sure they carry out these drug tests, like they would if there was a problem in any other work place.
And if they do get fired these people should be banned from wrestling for any other promotions (especially TNA) until they have sorted themselves out.
  8. Did Chris Hero work regulary for GPW in 2004-2005?I've just found out he wrestled in my home town, little Whitehaven, Cumbria for the company and I missed out becuase I thought it was a tribute show!!

Yeh he did, from March to October 2004.Hero was the first GPW International Heavyweight Champion and he won the title the night before (in Bacup) and then defended it against "Dangerous" Damon Leigh in a 2 out of 3 falls classic in Whitehaven the next day. Gangrel was also on the show and he wrestled JC Thunder. Sorry to hear you missed it. I should point out though that our posters have improved significantly since that day so if GPW were to ever promote in Whitehaven again, you can rest assured it would not be a tribute show and you would be experiencing the same standard of quality entertainment that the great Wigan fans experience in the Monaco Ballroom every month.
  9. Horrible news. I liked Mikes work, especially his bout with Tanaka at ONS in 05 and the triple threat tag with Raven against the Impact Players and Dreamer/Tanaka.Gutted i never met him, sounded like a nice guy. RIP

  10. So that's what GPW stands for..? That's a really stupid name.

A little background info. Basically the name came about because Lee Butler initally planned on training people from his own garage and even though we did end up training in a local leisure centre (though later that month we moved into a unit on an industrial estate that was sorta like a garage what with the door that was kinda like a garage door what with you having to press a button top get it up and down) the name stuck. I'm sure if Lee had put a bit more thought into it, GPW would have a different name but thats Lee for you lol
  11. One thing good that has come out of the 1pw debacle is that 1PW drew 500 plus fans consistently to its shows. Now befire anyone says well yeh but it had X Y and Z on it, dont use that an excuse. If 1000 people can be convinced to attend a show with Americans on, surely then with the right amount of promotion those same 1000 people might be convinced to attend a show with an all british roster. Its not impossible, the more British wrestlers are put over as people to see,the more people will want to watch them.
