  1. No TNA choices? There wasn't a single TNA match worthy of putting in there? Come on.

Im far from a TNA hater, but I'm not sure I can think of a match from this year that deserves to be on this list (the first Kong v Kim match might come close, and I remember liking a recent Ultimate X tag match featuring LAX)...
  2. What was the date of the last 3 hour episode of WCW Nitro?

Can't find the exact date, though I know the decision to move to two hours was announced in January 2000 (and it may tell you something about the standing of the industry at that time that it was mentioned by Entertainment Weekly, who are hardly small fry). I'm guessing it would be the January 3rd show (the inanely fun Lethal Lottery tag tournament show), but can't be completely sure...
Actually, it turns out the Jan 3rd 2000 show was also 2 hours, so it may have been the final show of 99 (which was 27/12) that was the final 3 hour show. You're answer is likely to be on here DDT Digest, which was THE website for all things WCW back in the day, and actually appears to have some new content on there for the first time in years. Will definitely be having a look through all the stuff on there when I get a spare few hours...

  4. Andy Simmonz vs JC Thunder - IPW:UK Championship, IPW:UK Royale Rewards.Swiss Money Holdings v Dragonhearts (IPW, Liverpool).IPW Battle Royale.Kid Richie & Chris Whitton v Lance Thunder & Livewire McIntyre (3CW, Boro, Nov).Marty Scurll v Jules Lambrini (IPW, Nov - a right hoot).Doug Williams v Naomichi Marafuji (RQW - of the lot I've mentioned here, the only one I didn't see live, and I didn't see a British match this year that came across as well on the small screen)...

  5. Without wanting to sound like sabumark I'm actually quite intrigued by one of his questions. When Beyond the Mat was released was it straight to DVD or was it given a theatrical release first? And if so how was it received critically and commercially? Ditto for Wrestling with Shadows.

Wrestling With Shadows...well, I know that it was shown at the Sheffield Film Festival, which may or may not have been its premiere.Beyond The Mat I know a little more about, at least in this country. It got a small theatrical release, playing at the more, erm, arty theatres (I saw it at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle). It also got a pretty major VHS release (I got it from Asda, for gawdsakes).I seem to remember in both cases that each film was received very well, both in wrestling and non-wrestling circles. And, remember, the first time WwS was seen over here was on BBC2 of all places...
  6. I've only seen Jericho/Mysterio & Eddie/Chavo but on paper the card looks to have 5 potentially very good matches, Goldberg/Curt could have been good too, but matches 3, 5, 6 & 10 look wank.

Giant v Greene was, IIRC, miraculously very decent - partly because Wight still had a bit of passion, partly because Greene seemed to have a real talent for this type of thing. Plus, Stevie Ray v Chavo wasn't much of a match: IIRC, Chavo tapped out on a hand-shake, avoiding the plans of his evil uncle Eddy to face the youngster once he'd been beaten up like a Fruit Booty...
  7. The Brawl For All started at the end of June 1998, and the Bodacious Bart vs Bombastic Bob match was about half way through.Given the fact that Michaels returned in July 1998 to do a bit of commentary after leaving following WrestleMania 14, that would make the WCW ppv in question Bash At The Beach 1998 which was mid-July.1) Saturn vs. Raven2) Kidman vs. Juventud Guerrera3) Stevie Ray vs. Chavo Guerrero4) Hair vs. Hair: Eddie Guerrero vs. Chavo Guerrero5) Disco Inferno vs. Konnan6) The Giant vs. Kevin Greene7) Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho8) Bret Hart vs. Booker T9) Curt Hennig vs. Goldberg10) Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman vs. Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone

...which, by the way, was not a particularly bad event at all, the efforts of Dennis Rodman notwithstanding...
  8. No, it's a public domain track that WWE licence, so they don't have the rights to sell it. You'll sometimes here it in montages on low-budget satellite channels, like when Benoit's WCW music was on Playboy tapes. I'd imagine.

Of all things, Steve Blackman's theme was used in a similar way. And possibly Hardcore Holly's...
  9. So does this mean Powerslam is out early this month? I saw an issue in Tesco today with Cena on the cover. I can't remember if he was on the cover last month (probably), as their dated design does tend to leave everything blending into one...

Yep, it's out a week early because of the PS50 coming out the week before Christmas.
Oh, right. Release dates almost as confusing as FSM...

  11. Just wondering does anyone know what dates did Nitro change to 2 hours long, 3 hours long and then back to 2 hours ?

Pretty sure Scott Hall debuted on the first 2 hour Nitro (27 May 1996). It went to 3 hours in early 1998 and returned to 2 hours in late 1999, after Russo took over.
Certainly Nitro was permanently 3 hours by 98, but I do believe the very first 3 hour one was in August 97, the show in Chicago where Lex Luger wracked Hogan to win the world title (amazing as it may sound, it got a fantastic reaction, and likely did a pretty big rating)...
