I keep seeing Patton Oswalt mentioned in association with this killer. What's the link?

He's a shit comedian, and narcissist, whose ex-wife (deceased) wrote a true crime book about the killer.

The police have since said that the book had precisely nothing to do with the case being closed, despite his grandstanding.

  2. It just looked like an awkward teenager to me, albeit someone old enough to be looking for hugs from Bayley. And yes he was probably being a perv.

I don't think Bayley has anything to be apologising for.

I never saw anyone above the age of 10 looking for a mask off Mysterio, or sunglasses from Bret.

But, then again, they aren't attractive women.

  3. Not for a moment suggesting it's a better show, but I prefer Jerry Stiller as Arthur Spooner in King of Queens. He never ceases to crack me up in that. I love his unique delivery of lines which stems from the fact he's trying to remember them as he says them.

Can do serious roles as well, surprisingly. Put in a tour de force in a very disturbing episode of the horror anthology show "Tales from the Darkside" (think Twilight Zone) called "The Devil's Advocate".

Still makes me sad just thinking about it. :(

I watched the Dear White People film this weekend, then banged through the TV show. It's not as good and doesn't have the lovely, lovely Tessa Thompson in it, but it is still very, VERY funny in places and a fairly easy watch. Recommended.

Also on the point of the above discussion, imagine listening to someone who only watches a TV series from Series 2 onwards. Sort of person that needs locking up. You're either all in, or you're not. You've missed a HUGE amount of development in series 1 of anything. Freak.

In mitigation, I watched from Season 2 of BE because I was watching it with my brother and he had already seen Season 1. It was a bonding thing because he was going back to South Korea imminently at the time.

Bottom line, Boardwalk Empire is THE show Ralphy should watch in terms of accessibility; plus he enjoyed The Sopranos which is very similar to Boardwalk conceptually and in terms of who writes and produces it.

Anyways, I plan to get back into Season 1 imminently; I've already watched the first episode, which was pretty underwhelming despite it's record breaking budget (don't let that put you off Ralphy!)

Michael Shannon's character may possibly be the greatest character in Network TV history.

That man can pull off any kind of role. He's a modern day De Niro.

  5. I'm not sure I've watched a full episode of GoT but my friends and my brother send various clips and sometimes I half watch it when it's on TV.

Ye may be right. Maybe I should watch half a dozen episodes before making a judgment call on it, but from what I've seen it pushes the envelope of what should be acceptable on television (rape, incest, offensive stuff involving babies).

Ballsy how they wrote out Sean Bean's character, though.

  6. Yes, I have barely watched GOT but what I've been exposed to when people send me YouTube clips is just gratuitous violence. It is clearly one of the selling points of the show, if not the only one. My take is that it would have a lot less longevity without it.

Have to disagree re: The Wire Season 2. Think it's probably in the top 3 seasons for me. Very relevant for the time period it was made, too. The show was reAlly lagging by Season 5, though.

And for all the talk of how realistic it was, some of the storylines by that point were stretching incredulity.

Breaking Bad is a tiresomely overrated show IMO. Kept trying but struggled to get into it; it didn't help that various character arcs didn't make sense, and various characters were out of place in a show that was trying to portray itself as a serious drama.

  7. I started watching Boardwalk Empire from Season 2 so I can't speak for the first season as a whole, but from what I've seen, it's a great show, and a similar vibe to the Sopranos.

The Wire isn't as accessible; you need to pay a lot more attention to it. I also think it's a little bit overrated.

I haven't watched much GOT. I'm not into the science fiction/fantasy genres. From what I've seen of it, it's a bit gratuitous in terms of nudity and horror; almost like a fantasy version of Saw.

If you do watch the Wire or Boardwalk Empire, give it time, as they both hit their stride in Season 2.

Is your username a Seinfeld reference? It always makes me think of Seinfeld, anyway.

The Maestro is one of my favourite guest characters. That's one of the great things about Seinfeld. The ensemble is perfect, and then you have a universe of hundreds of memorable guest stars who made a distinct impression.

It's unique in that it sustained its quality till the end, too, dreadful final episode aside.

So many quotables, too, to the extent you remember the ones that didn't land i.e. "anti-dentite".

  9. It's amazing how ingrained attitudes like these ones are about women.

I'm not preaching from the pulpit, I'm guilty of it myself, but here we are in 2018, female wrestling has never been in a better place, to the extent where there is talk of Ronda and Charlotte main eventing WM next year, yet when the chips fall they are still basically judged on their appearance.

I mean, have Steve Austin, The Rock, HHH or Undertaker ever been mocked because of their appearance?

It shouldn't have anything to do with anything.

I think she's a pretty girl and doesn't need all that make up, but it's her choice, and it doesn't have any relevance to her work.

  10. Over the Edge 1998 reviewed on 411Mania.

As the reviewer said, the main event, along with Backlash 2000's, represent the zenith of the Attitude Era.

Owned both of them on video back in the day and lost count of how many times I watched them.

    True, you nonce.

Point out to me what part of the post you're referring to makes me out to be a nonce.

You know, something more constructive than calling me stupid or a nonce, or just general cyber bullying.

  12. It's disturbing to me to me to see how common and normalised it is to see a male actor grabbing a female co-star by the throat while engaged in coitus.

James Deen is one I've seen do this with several co-stars, which is ironic as I've heard of this guy being championed as "women's favorite pornstar".

I'm not sure if that's changed since the allegations surrounding him.

I believe he ran a service on his website, don't know if he still is, where female fans can pay to have sex with him.

While I don't dispute the core point, and NoUseforaUsername is a blight on planet earth, I recall reading a few articles proposing that the easy access to porn from a young age and the array of harder stuff without barriers to escalation is killing a standard libido and arousal for some people.

Not the first time someone's agreed with me while disparaging me at the same time.

Yes; if he could only change that he'd finally hit the big time.

He may be more respected by literary critics.

It's frustrating because you will be totally engrossed by the story but then a piece of bad dialogue will take you out of it.

Case in point. In the book I'm reading ATM there is a scene where a defense lawyer, a priest and a district attorney are present for an execution. The lawyer and priest are talking and the D.A. turns around and tells them to "zip their lips."

    I mean, come on.

Sometimes this happens all through his books. Sometimes, like in the aforementioned book, he keeps it to a bare minimum.

Porn should be fun.  All this making women gag and vomit, and all the nasty rough sex just sickens me.  Some real vile stuff out there, which is why I mostly stick to the 80’s filth.

It didn't ring true when Ted Bundy tried to blame porn in the late-eighties, but I'd be amazed if the current glamorisation of fantasy rape fetish porn isn't nurturing some serial killers in waiting.
