Song lyrics that refer, explicitly or implicitly, to the pandemic. Mrs raid likes "Bam Bam" by Camila Cabello and I turn inside out cringing every time Sheeran moans "It's been a hell of a year, thank God we made it out." YEAH MATE defo. So original.

He should be thanking science, since if there was some all-seeing all-loving god to keep us free from harm (Richard Dawkins™) then they wouldn't have allowed the existence of a disease with the potential to kill millions of people in the first place.

We had an e-mail the other day to the whole department which should have been a long email asking for assistance on something, but he evidently clicked send by mistake and what he actually sent to everyone was "hello everyone, I really need some ass".

Fell into the trap that's easily avoided. Rather than fill in the email fields in the order you're subconsciously tricked into by working from the top down, always write the email first then deal with the title and finally the recipients.

  2. Watching a video of me scratching my cat's belly in Faceook;'s Memories section, which triggered Faceook's obviously broken AI to take it down as content which goes against their Community Standards, a decision I disagreed with so they rubber-stamped it without explanation 10 minutes later.

Greg Dyke at ITV was busy getting rid of all the 'working class' programs like Wrestling, Darts, Cannon and Ball. Even if they were still getting good ratings (Cannon and Ball had 12 million viewers). So no chance there, although they were showing WCW by the mid 90's

They were showing it as early as 1989, at least if you lived in the Yorkshire Television area (this was back in the days when outside primetime ITV regions were pretty much a law unto themselves as to what was shown). I remember just seeing "Wrestling" listed in the paper's TV guide for ~1am one day in the morning in the Prisoner Cell Block H timeslot, so I set the video. It was NWA, from memory the first show had the Flair/Funk/Muta/Sting post-match brawl at the Great American Bash and Flair's awesome post-match promo with his green and red face.

The second week was more of the same, there's a decent amounf of the show on Youtube including the infamous Sid Vicious/Lee Scott squash plus Sting badly botching a dive to the outside and more Funk craziness.

Sadly it didn't last much longer than a few weeks, but it was great while it lasted.

  4. Fucking Joe Rogan at the end of the main event moaning that Marc Goddard should have let the fight go on because, according to Rogan at least, champions should have to be knocked out to lose their title. Last time I checked referees are empowered to stop a fight if one fighter is no longer intelligently defending themself, there's no caveat that lets champions fight on. What are the UFC doing allowing this clown to opine this way in the first place? At a time when the commentators should be bigging up the new champion, Rogan is trying to tarnish his victory. There's no need for it, since the rematch sells itself anyway without Rogan trying to create controversy where none exists.

The rescheduled (Doom were supposed to be supporting on the postoned 2022 version) Campaign For Musical Destruction tour, I'm guessing it's a 30th anniversary thing since I was at the Queens Hall, Bradford in 1992 for the original version of the tour with Dismember and Obituary. Dropdead instead of Doom makes it much better for me, as much as I love the latter Dropdead don't come over as often these days, although I've seen every UK show they've done 2016, plus one in Stockholm. Haven't seen Napalm Death since 1994 in Manchester, so back to Manchester it is.

The blueticks having meltdowns is hilarious though, how dare the proles have the same status as us by merely paying for it.

I'm sure the $7 per month will go a long way to recouping Musk's $44 billion outlay. Far be it from me to suggest the world's richest man is financially clueless, but if someone offered to sell me a business losing $4 million per day and wanted $44 billion I'd decline rather quickly.

    This thread is crap.

It's not compulsory to either read or reply to this thread, yet you've managed to do the latter 45 times to date. When Elizabeth Windsor died I found the days of non-stop media coverage and competitive mourning to be tedious, so I just ignored the circus completely and spent my time more productively elsewhere.

fighters don't want to fight anymore.

I suggest you read the many ways to kill a boxing match. When you take into account network/promoter/sanctioning body disputes as well as all the other shenanigans that go on behind the scenes, the difficulties in getting the top guys into the ring are obvious.

Fury has fought what 11x in 9 years and pissed away his whole 20s and prime.

Even ignoring that he was out for several years due to doping/mental health issues, how has he "pissed away" anything? He's got an estimated net worth of $65 million, he's hardly needing to use food banks because of bad career choices is he? Is the boxing word really crying out for more Tyson Fury title defences against no-names similar to Željko Mavrović and Phil Jackson (who both challenged Lennox Lewis)? Assuming he's not actually retired (and that might have changed a couple of times while I've been typing this reply) Fury wants to concentrate on big money marquee matches, he can hardly be blamed for not wanting to get out of bed for 5am runs in training for a match against some Random Jimmy.

    Manifestly excessive footpath closures.

When the words are wrong on Apple Music. Song was a massive hit nearly 20 years before the platform was launched and been transcribed a thousand times. It’s not hard to find the lyrics online, so how in the world does “and the thunder rolls” become “in the front row”??? Listen to the fucking song, it’s not even the correct number of syllables!

Assuming we're talking about the Garth Brooks song, surely the fact the song is called The Thunder Rolls is a bit of a clue?

In village cricket news we were up against Hoylandswaine for the second year running in the league's cup final, and for the second year running they failed miserably. The somewhat belated match report is here, sadly no mention of our fans' Joy Division themed chants of "Swaine are falling apart again" during our run chase.

The cricket club I was at yesterday had the traditional Yotkshire delicacy of mucky fat sandwiches (that's bread and dripping in posh language). How could anyone say no to the coagulated excess juices from roasted meat scraped across a slice of bread?

This afternoon was just horrible. Opened the door to go outside and the wind blowing the hot air into my face was like nothing I'd experienced before. I asked on Saturday if we'd still be playing a T20 cricket match tomorrow night (luckily I'm only the scorer) and they looked at me like I'd got two heads, hopefully common sense might be starting to prevail now.

Ach, I’m not crazy about that. I’m not sure the 2/3 falls stip has ever made a match better.

    Spoiler

How much heat did they have 12 seconds into the match?

    Is everybody wearing a mask?

I've never stopped, at least in high-traffic environments like supermarkets and transport hubs. Despite people still getting sick and dying it's apparently too much to ask for the overwhelming majority of the British public to wear a mask for 15 minutes while doing their shopping.
