  1. You know it makes you wonder if the Network is still going to air the PPV's past Royal Rumble. JBL is still saying if you subscribe now you'll get all PPV's until the Rumble. But if you signed up now for 6 months you would get Elimination Chamber aswell as it would take you til mid March. Just seems weird.

Go on then what year was the best? From what I have watched back from 1993-1998 the best year was 1997 right?

Yeah, superb year. The Hart Foundation vs. USA stuff was white hot throughout the summer but the Bret/Austin/HBK/McMahon stuff at the start of the year and the Harts & DX later on where excellent. Steve Austin becoming one of wrestling's all-time great characters, mankind evolving into a great babyface, Triple H and the Rock making their way up and loads of other great stuff. It just had everything.

2000 was utterly brilliant but it ran out of steam. Funny how both years have awful WrestleManias.

To this day i don't know why they booked WrestleMania 16 (or 2000 as some call it) with only one singles match that featured Terri Vs The Kat. I'm not saying it was a shit WrestleMania but it was a strange one.

Mine must've been an import from the US then.

Did all those WWF rings come with that electronic thing? My version definitely didn't and it looks identical. It's either a different version of my parents dropped it in the mass brawl that broke out and subsequent dash to escape when they stumbled upon a motherload of unsold WWF Hasbro toys that year on the bottom floor of WH Smiths.

I think there was two versions of it for a while. The ring i got didn't have the sound effects either. Mine had a Hogan figure included.

There was never a ring that had a Hogan figure included. Maybe your Dad slipped one in there to make your Mum happy.

No you're wrong it was even printed on the box.

All four matches on the 95 Rumble card lasted almost 30 mins each. Did people really want to see Taker Vs IRS last that long?

Taker/IRS didn't even last for half of that time. It wouldn't even have taken that long for the whole segment itself. It was shite, but it was relatively quick. The other three matches (of which only Bret/Diesel went anywhere near half an hour) were great and easily redeemed the show imo, in addition to Pam and the LT angle.

It's been that long since i had watched that PPV so it seemed like they were all half hour matches. Either way i have no plans to watch it again. When i feel like watching back to back Rumble events i always skip this one. Boring on every level.

I thought the Royal Rumble matches from 1993, 1995 and 2000 were the worst ones ever. But that 1995 Rumble was just awful. Infact the whole PPV was horrible.

The '95 one still got a lot of play (well pausing, rewinding, then pausing again) in my house. Admittedly it was just for the Pamela Anderson bits.

It's like Vince even knew that Rumble was going to be shit, so he had a new guy entering every minute in a 'let's just fucking get this over with' way. Shite like Mantaur, Ron and Don Harris and Duke Droese cluttering up the ring. It was the 'fastest Rumble match ever' but it still seemed to drag somehow. Shawn and Davey Boy were great throughout though. And Pamela (I could swear I could make out nipple outline through that dress).

Yep it was the first thing i had noticed. She had nothing on under that dress. Her ass looked amazing in that dress too.

  8. Plus, they didn't necessarily "book themselves into a corner". If they were planning to switch the title to Kane to create a buzz for Austin's re-match, all they did was add intriguing stipulations they didn't have to carry out. And as CTX says, Kane setting himself on fire wasn't that unlikely.

True he had done it at Unforgiven 1998 during the inferno match. He made sure everyone noticed his arm on fire then ran like fuck to the back. But at KOTR it was over the top having those petrol cans around the ring. As if he was gonna pour it all over himself.

  9. Wasn't it also a first blood match which would of been hard to do because of Kanes mask? Also didn't Kane say he would set himself on fire if he lost? They sort of booked themselves into a corner. Obv the theory about getting a raw rating is true too though.

I had mentioned this on the Foley thread.

  10. Hadn't the US boom ended by 92 anyway, despite still going strong in Europe. Thanks to Bret Hart obviously.

Yes with Hogan leaving the company and the bad media coverage because of the scandals and steroid abuse they got. Not to mention that Nailz almost choked the fucker to death. It's safe to say that 1992 was a year Vince would rather forget.

  11. I didn't know why the crowd was laughing at Heyman's attempt at sweet talking Khali into letting him leave the room. Going by the live reaction we found out that the backstage skit was live and not pre recorded anyway and by that i mean you usually hear another match going on in the arena when most of these skits are done. I laughed more at the part when the clumsy fucker almost trapped his hand at the top of the door.
