    Want to see Planet of the Apes but I get the impression it's one big SCIENCE IS EVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL type of deal which kind of puts me off it.

     

    just as much about the relationships between the apes (especially cesar) and the humans and how the humans treat them. science plays its role obviously without it the apes wouldnt RISE!!!!. i recommend it but i would understand why you wouldnt want to watch it as well.

    Rise of the planet of the apes

     

    just got back from seeing this and its a decent film. andy serkis is the star of the film as cesar and he is a likeable figure and its easy to care about what happens to him. his motion capture work again is stunning. the ape cgi is ok. very good in places and not in others. the orangutan is very impressive and if you didnt know every ape was cgi'd (which i did) you could swear him in paiticular was real. they are characters to invest in though and you do care what happens to them. i was rooting for them.

     

    of the main cast. franco is ok. very similar to how he is in most things apart from 127 hours in which i thought he was exceptional. freida pinto doesnt really do an awful lot. basically just eye-candy. Lithgow is excellent once again and you feel for him for what he's going through

    major points. first and foremost cesar's big scream of NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! (which got a few laughs but then again so did lithgow when he was crashing the car suffering from alzehiemers. weird crowd) it was a bit silly and comes from nowhere. i was dumbfounded by it cos it was so shocking but i dont think in a good way. was a bit much for the sake of dramatic effect. his voice at the end is much better

     

    the entire final sequence with the apes attacking and the whole sequence on the bridge is very impressive but fully armed forces should be able to take out the apes. and surely after the film once the apes get to redwood the army is going to come after them after they caused all that damage(sequel possibly).

     

    and speaking of sequels the ending. it turns out that the 113 virus used on the second chimp cause a global pandemic and thats what wipes out humanity. that is pretty clever but how and why (since cesar didnt want the apes to kill or severyley harm the humans) do the apes have humans have slaves in the future. again i guess thats for a sequel. my idea for the sequel would be having the pandemic in full effect and franco dies at the start then a story of cesar fighting rogue apes for power ending with a space ship crashing on earth

    all in all despite some silly (possibly shark jumping moments) it is worth seeing and despite what you may think about the previous films it is worth a watch.

    For me it was a bit worse. It was just a looter from outer space (fitting with whats going on at the moment!).

     

    The first half of the film was great, purely because of the suspense of it all, but then when the motive of it was revealed, it felt a bit of a let down.

     

    Clovie just wanted to fuck things up. Creature fucking things up > Oversized ET who just wanted to go home.

    well its a different story to cloverfield then. once the confusion wears off and the monster's true motives are revelead the kids realise it and joe tries to reason with him and succeeds. i'll admit the rushed pace of the ending made it lesser the eventual impact(film could have done with being a bit longer)but i enjoyed it.

    Oh I definitely agree with that, but the creature was just rubbish. It caused a bit of a fuss, and then just flew away.

    Better or worse than the cloverfield monster? i think better and he was just collecting supplies to go home and only attacked people who got in his way. he wasnt treated well under captivity and was understandebly pissed off. although why he took alice.??? food maybe?

    so went to see Super 8 and i really enjoyed it my fav movie of the year. plot thoughts

    the kids were very good. especially the two leads. their relationship was very sweet and i cared about what happened to them so job done there. the monster and its motives will split a lot of people. like a gigantic pshyco E.T he just wants to go home and the ending is a bit cheesy but didnt really change my feelings on the film. the whole last 20 minutes does feel a bit rushed though with things going very quickly. also i think the monster looks much better than the cloverfield monster but it wont satisfy everyone. and the movie within a movie after the credits was awesome.

    the effects (especially the train crash are excellent and as its an Abrams film there is a lot of lens flare. Micheal Giacchino brings his score which is very similar to his work on lost but still has the power to emtionally affect you (especially in one scene).

     

    people are going to be split on it and i understand why but i cant recommemd it enough a great film in the vein of all the great speilberg movies

     

    9/10

    Has he not signed up to it? That's annoying. He was a fucking riot. Only other ones particularly interesting are the slag and the invisible lad. Teleporting girl's pretty, but about as 3-dimensional as a stick man drawn on a napkin.

     

    joe gilgun(this is england and emmerdale) will be a new charcter called rudy in season 3

     

    anyway went to see Captain America and while IMO not as good as x-men i enjoyed it

     

    good fun, chris evans was excellent in the role and it builds up the avengers well. cant wait for next year

     

    did anyone else spot jasmine(lesbian with debbie) from emmerdale as one of the girls bucky and steve take to the exhibition?

    if theres a sequel i would prefer it to be back in WW2 times but im not sure how you would go about it without magic or a time machine. red skulls clearly not dead so they've left it open
