  1. Cheers for the answers, I enjoy boxing but know nothing about it so being told by someone who knows their stuff is great. :)

I know nothing on subjects that are of no interest to me. If i enjoy something, I at least having a basic knowledge of what i am enjoying? Do you mean you have a basic knowledge or as you say "nothing"?

  2. yeh certain people's tv's went off, they re-showed the fight later in the broadcast.

luckily mine didn't go off :)

Yes they did re-show the fight, But it does somewhat kill the moment when you have to watch the rounds in the wrong order. They never even put a message up on the screen. It may sound harsh, But when you really plug a programme as the flagship event of the week for Channel 5, then someone should get sacked for that booboo IMO?

  3. Fury vs Firtha was all kinds of fun. Agree with Ebb the stoppage might have been a tad early but chances are it just saved Firtha more of a beating. He had his moment in the 3rd i don't think he had much left to offer.

Still can't stand Fury but it can't be denied his fights are usually entertaining even if not the most technical. I don't see him doing that well against higher level opponents but his fights are worth tuning in for.

Five's coverage was top notch again. I hope this becomes a regular thing now.

If 5"s coverage was so top notch, How come we got to see a blank screen from rounds 2 to 5 ?

  4. Well i thought the fight was pretty shite! How much of what Haye promised did he actually deliver?

Did you actually think he was going to deliver what he said? He was doing his best to make sure that people bought the fight and made him money.

Well i realise that he was hyping the fight,What i did not realise was that he was talking 100% Bollocks! The main point i was trying to make was that IMO the fight was fairly rubbish, Which contradicted the opinions of the other poster.

It wasn't rubbish, it was a heavyweight match, slow in places and very cautious. It depends what you like in sport, if you like fast paced hell for leather action you wouldn't have enjoyed it. If you enjoy the tactical and technical side of sport you'd have enjoyed it.

Is there still a general opinion that Haye was hammered last night? Pretty harsh if so.

I said it was fairly rubbish. Regardless of the weight division, I like the boxers to hit each other quite a bit, As opposed to standing off for 12 rounds. Does "The Tactical and Technical side of the sport" Allow you to do very little? If so Audley Harrison was a tactical/Technical genious against Haye?

No, thats just being stupid isnt it. Neither fighter wanted to give much away and really didnt want to get caught by a big blow during the fight, both fighters were caught badly at points, both were cut at points too. If you want to see two guys goo flying in with fists flying all over the place then the heavyweight division isnt for you.

I would have said that both fighters faces were scuffed or marked up, If you want to see a cut up Klitschko then check out the Lewis/Klitschko fight. I do totally agree that neither fighter wanted to give much away & IMO that is exactly what they did. Hence the reason why i felt the fight was "Fairly Rubbish"?

  7. On the fight, it was pretty good. Better than I expected going in. Wlad was just too much for Haye. Like most of Klitschko's opposition he couldn't find an answer for that big jab and Wlad was pretty much picking him off with the old one two. Haye went for it a bit in the 12th but I'd have liked to have seen him try that from around the 9th or 10th. Too little too late.

The broken toe thing came off as poor sportsmanship to me. His toe did look fucked but bringing that up made him look worse imo. One broken toe wouldn't be the entire reason he lost, he'd have been better off just saying 'yeah I lost, I'll come back stronger...' or whatever.

hGood fight though and the atmosphere was amazing. Liked the little mind games from Haye making him wait and stuff.

  8. I still don't get why everyone dislikes Haye and thinks Klitschko is some sort of amazing boxer who could beat anyone, he looks a decidely average fighter who's been put on his arse more then once by average fighters. Even Manny Steward looks like he doesn't wanna be in his corner.

The general impression I get is that pretty much 90% of the people who post in this thread like Haye.

Wladimir, in my opinion, is....well....to use a Michael Gomez line ; "A World-class fighter, with World-class vulnerabilities".

I just want to say to everyone, yes I am 'pro-Haye', but I have been since I attended an amateur show in which he took part in one of his last ever contests with the headguard on, so I definatley am not hopping on the wagon. But in evaluating this fight, I am still remaining impartial when it comes to analysing the contest and making predictions. Speaking of predictions, I will be making mine tomorrow, after the weigh-in. Until then, I will continue to do what I've done for the last few weeks and is something I do for all high-level fights; which is getting out my DVD career sets of the fighters involved, and studying them for the main factors which go into making the most informed predictions possible.

Ebb, here's a link where you can get the Boxing news specials....I highly recommend the 100 years of Boxing news and the Boxing news annual 2011, in particular. Well worth the few extra quid on the price tag. They are made to the highest standards, are very deep in terms of content quantity and they contain some of the best articles possible. The 100 years of Boxing news is the best of the best, it is basically a compilation of the best articles and moments since they began publication in 1910. The best

  9. Slightly off topic but am i the only one out there who would happily crawl through broken glass, bare chested just to stick dead matches in the shit of Carl Frotch"s bird?

  10. Just watched Groves v Anderson & have to say that i was shocked at how poor Groves was tactically. He has power & guts but has to get street smart before Saturday or he will be a sitting duck!

I know i am contradicting the above sentence, but i think Groves will win on Saturday. This prediction is based purely on gut instinct, much like when i predicted Eubank to beat Benn in their first encounter. When you have bad blood & undefeated streaks, the underdog often rises to the challenge........Interesting!Told you!

  12. anyone watching Mayorga/Cotto this weekend? its gonna be brutal.

ive been watching a lot of Mayorga stuff this week, total maniac. I love combat sport hype, and a lot of it is hype/playing up for the camera's, but with Mayorga's it's legit. that guys got an element of danger about him, he seems unstable. It makes for exciting viewing, i love it!

    Is it on Sky, mate?

It was on the 12th mate, has been and gone. Info here:

Yeah, Cheers. I realised after i posted :(

  14. i was wrong, the round betting is at 66/1 for Harrison.

I actually think Harrison is a good boxer, but very lazy. Perhaps with this being his last & biggest opportunity? Plus Haye is exciting in a reckless sort of way, add to that a bit of needle and there could be some bombs flying, from the very start? Harrison R1, come on !

  15. just watched this week's Ringside.

Fair play, despite the fact that the majority of people think Haye is going to destroy Harrison, the media and the two fighters have done a great job of hyping this up. When first announced it was kind of like 'what the fuck!? why!?' but they've got me wanting to see it now. Great job by the hype brigade, and i'm thinking dropping a few quid on Harrison might be worth a punt.

    then there's Pacman/Margarito...

the 24/7 series is the best hype shows out there (better than UFC promotional shows), the honesty in which it's presented is refreshing... HBO are actually promoting the fight by saying that Pacman is having a terrible training camp, there's no glossing it over like 95% of the time in boxing/mma, it's a strange approach but it's enthralling. I'm also fancying Margarito for the upset.

2 in one night?I am having a cheeky tenner on Harrison in round 1, i know it is a long shot, just got a feeling? I reckon they are both coming out, all guns blazing & this simply has to be Harrisons last ever chance?

  16. Well instead of "We sleep in the same bed when we're single, when we're bored etc., etc.," (Not Accurate Statement). You could have just said "I'm fucking her"/"I'm not fucking her"/"She's a mate"/"She's a mate I chuck one up"/"She's a mate I want to chuck one up, but I keep going the lav when we share a bed to pour the head off".

That was just to highlight that we're a bit more than just "best friends" because we are, it's deeper than that, and we both feel that way, just dating and stuff will fuck it up.

Everyone saw it in the picture thread.

    who the fuck is that?

    Fuck off.

I bet she washed the vest afterwards though.

Yup, considering the muck we managed to get on it later, it was the only sane thing to do.

    This was absolutely cringeworthy.

*Edit* Not a nomination, just showing how Midas's "It was innocent, we're best friends' speil is gash. *Edit*

THAT was supposed to be mucky, it's called a joke.

Although yes we did get the vest dirty, it was wiping up some spilled pop later.

she's my best friend, we love each other, but that's it, it's hardly squirm worthy to find someone of the opposite sex who you just click with without feeling any type of awkward about it.

But why go on about it, as though you're love struck?

You're far from the only person who has a very close friend without any sexual overtones. I have, of both sexes, but if I reference them in a forum post I'm not going to fawn over them and underline a million times how we're platonic and nothing more.

Surely you can see how it comes across?

Because it's irritating when you can't post pics of yourself without half the forum chucking their toys out of their collective pram, say i'm attention whoring, that she's my sister, that she's an escort. THEN, once i'm asked to explain our relationship, the toys get chucked about that too. These pics are on other forums too, no toy chucking, no accusations of whoring, nothing.

TBH it's a reflection of how sad and jealous the community is here.

Is this topic all my fault? I mentioned the "sister/escourt" line on a different topic, not as a dig at Mr.Midas, but just as a laugh at all the wrestling fans who cant get a girlfriend/boyfriend. So sorry!

  17. Can i use word of mouth , from a very reliable source ? A good friend of mine has been employed within the entertainment industry , all his working life ( 28 years )came back to me with the following info on the biggest tossers EVER !

like all good contests , it will be in reverse order :

3, Frankie Howerd - was a lonely because he once again managed to fall out with every member of cast and crew .He tried to cure his loneliness , by attempting to groom my ( male ) friend ( without success )

2, Shane Richie - Known universally as "the loathsome Shane Richie " by all who had the misfortune to work with him.

1, John Pertwee - did a Dr. Who production and after sylvester McCoy took over his position , the whole cast threw a party out of shear relief ! Did not have a single , redeemable quality to his personality and was not bothered who new it !

on the plus side , i have met a tonne of wrestlers and just about every one has been class . Top 3 , in no order ,were Rob Brookside , Mick McManus and Mark Rocco , PURE GOLD !

  18. what do you think will happen if ollie croft ever hangs up his boots.a relative of mine went to a pre-tournament meeting to sort out all the venue organisation and reckoned that croft just sat there smiling and did not answer any questions or say a single word!that cant be a good sign , he must have health issues.
