  1. Best thing on the UKFF this year or atleast joint first with the guy who didn't realise his wife was cheating on him.

Please somebody book Surf Graffiti vs New Jack

And can someone PM me with the link to the bloke who didn't realise his wife was cheating on him? Not heard about that one before.

Would that be "which wrestling promotion has a red, blue and black 4 sided ring?". If it is, the URL is below...

    Oh,I'd forgotten this. Fucking splendid.

  2. Guns n Roses getting boo'ed off stage in Ireland last night. It's a good laugh.

    !

same thing happened couple years back in glasgow. i wasnt there so someone can correct me on the details, but Axl Rose turned up well after 10pm and announced he hadnt had his dinner so was going off for somethign to eat, fucked off, then came back on another while later....what a huge prick

Guns and Roses make me think of this (speaking as a sound man):

  3. Toyah Wilcox

    Is it just me then??

I would have agreed up until she was on I'm a Celebrity. No make-up was a bad thing.

She came in my shop once. She's fucking TINY. Wouldn't even have to kneel.

  4. There's a very slim chance of me getting to meet Willie Nelson before his gig in London next month, I shall duly report back if it happens. I'm so fricking excited.

Holy fuck, that would be the coolest thing! Good luck man.

Yeah, a friend of a friend's Dad is involved with whoever the big concert promoters are, and he's going to this industry meet and greet thing the afternoon of the show. It probably won't happen but he's trying to swing me a +1. This would be, without a doubt the coolest thing to ever happen to me. I'd probably cry.

  5. I met Ade Edmondson in my shop at the start of december. He was in Panto round here. I never get nervous in front of famous people, having met some of my heroes through putting on shows, but I totally, totally bottled it. Just served him, gave him advice on what he was buying and sorted him out at the till without even acknowledging that I'd recognised him. Nevermind that my best mate is as big a fan as I am and had a birthday the next day so I could have asked him for an autograph for him or somethin.. Ah well, I've heard he's pretty miserable when people bang on about Bottom and The Young Ones and The Dangerous Brothers so it's probably best I didn't say anything...

In other news a mate of mine saw Rik Mayall on the Tube a few weeks back, didn't have the nerve to say anything, and then lost his chance just as he was mustering the courage because Rik Mayall got off. At Hammersmith.

  6. the sittingbourne tag match for me too. Good as the DG atch was, it didn't have *quite* the same shit-yer-pants, out of your seat excitement for me, probably because I was just happy watching the DG match regardless of the outcome, whereas in Sittingbourne, I reall, really, REALLY fucking wanted the Leaders to take it.

  7. Vic Reeves and his missus come in my shop quite frequently. He's polite enough but very quiet and reserved and only speaks to anyone if he needs help with something, his wife does all the paying and chatting to the staff at the counter. Seems a nice enough chap though.

Had Barry McGuigan in the other day too, again quite quiet and polite, but a slightly surly edge to him. Don't think anything was meant by it, just his demeanour.

Toyah Wilcox did panto round here a couple of years back. She's tiny, and friendly, and I still would...

This year's panto here has both Ade Edmondson and George Takei in so I'm keeping everything crossed that they'll both be either buying shit from me or drinking in my local.

  8. Currently on the go:

'Now and Then' by Joseph Heller. Memoirs of the Catch 22 author growing up in the 30s and 40s in Coney Island. I've got a keen interest in the history of Coney Island, so a first hand account by such a great author was a dream find for me.

    Also:

'Do What Thou Wilt'- A biography of Aleister Crowley, Chuck Berry's Autobiography, and a late 1940s collection of MR James ghost stories, that still has a cloth sticker on the inside cover from the bookshop in Israel that sold it years ago.

You'll have gathered that I only buy books from charity bookshops.. Also, four books on the go is pretty standard for me, I like to have a variety depending on mood.

  9. An old dear came into my shop the other day and got chatting to one of my staff about how her husband, who died fairly recently was a wrestler years ago, and was very well known to British wrestling fans. My staff member can't remember what his name was, and the lady hasn't been back in. I'm in Canterbury and I know Jackie Pallo was living in Ramsgate as of the late nineties, but I don't recall hearing that he'd died. Anyone think of any other big names who've died in the last year or two that were around the Kent/ South east area? This is a long shot I know, I'm just curious.
