  1. anyone ever visit Poundland for books? had a look in there the other day and picked up hardback copies of Vinne Jones Toughest Cops & the autopbiography of Murderball player Mark Zupan. Not bad for 2 bucks.

    anyone else visit Poundland?

Funnily enough I popped into the big new Poundland in Ipswich the other day (used to be the old Woolworths) as I'd heard the chain sometimes has wrestling videos / books for sale and was quite surprised at the books they had in there. I got a book about the history of the Bond movies, Where in the world is Bin Laden (by the guy who did Supersize Me) and Oscar De La Hoya's book. Not too bad for

  2. I'm looking to download some WWE entrance themes, like WWE Anthology or other such volumes. Anyone recommend a good non torrent place to get them? If anyone happens to have rapidshare or hotfile links they would like to share, feel free to PM me.

Youtube to MP3 is your friend.

Definitely - I've just done a 2 disc compilation of classic 80's / 90's entrance themes using this method - pretty much everything is on there.

  3. Ordered the Shawn Michaels book last night so looking forward to that. While I'm waiting I thought I'd crack open Regal's book. It's been gathering dust on the shelf for years (I brought it from the Works brand new for

  4. When was WWF first shown on The Sky Channel?

I'm not entirely sure but I can re-call seeing the match between Roberts and Steamboat where Steamboat bought out that Kimono lizard, which if IRC was 1986. I don't think SKY would've bothered showing back dated stuff. Funnily enough I've been converting a load of old SKY WWF VHS tapes to DVD this week and most of that is from early 1987.

  5. This week I've just re-read Dynamites book for the first time in about 7 or 8 years and I have to say it still stands up as a cracking read. What I like, despite the fact that he can be very opiniated about pretty much and everyone, is that he doesn't play the sympathy card. He knows why it happened and yet he still says he would do it all again.

I think the one thing I'd never really thought about was that he was just 33 when he called it a day - just about my age now, and to think of then having to sit out the rest of my days as an invalid is scary.

I'd love to see him do a second volume with more anecdotes, stories about the pranks etc.

  6. If it IS Sting, someone will have to change that line on his Wikipedia article about being the most famous wrestler never to be in WWE :p

Just out of curiosity, to whom would that title now go to? Abdullah The Butcher?

It would have to be Big Daddy wouldn't it?

for me thats actually quite an interesting shout, but if your going to name british wrestlers then surely you have to name japanese ones too. but the thing with naming either british or japanese wrestlers is you have to aknowledge that they are not really that famous outside of their respective countries and the american counterparts are.

What about Kendo Nagasaki? Well known here and in the US. It always surprised me he didn't end up in the WWF. With a ready gimmick that was so 80's WWF, he would've fitted right in around 84 - 86. And since the WWF were trying to crack the UK around this time with SKY and taking slots on the traditional WOS programme. Would've been a great feud with Hogan!

He's about the only one I can think of. I'd love to see Abby in the WWE. Surely a candidate for an Undertaker match himself. A bit like the old days when he used to take on who ever was the biggest freak (Gonzalez, Kamala etc.) they could throw at him.

  8. Ok this may have been answered before but I can't find it. I've been watching some old Wrestlemanias, last nightwas 6, and I wondered why on my non-tv versions Demolition's music had been changed? It seems strange as no-one elses seems to be any different.

  9. This last one is quality, but the end will only be truely funny if you are aware of who the person is, I will give it a shot, no doubt anyone familiar with him will find it highly amusing. Anyway, I was sat in Bath Abby after an amazing day out date with a girl just relaxing and thinking how well it was going, when an arm grabbed me in a sleeper hold. I didn't recognise this person (abv cos they had me from behind) but they smelt a bit and I noticed a wrinkly old hand. And I started to think fuck who's this? And asked but they wouldn't reply, and the girl started freaking out and looked terrified, as I then thought it was a tramp! The girl then curled up at the end of the bench petrified while I didn't know what to do to remain calm. Then the person let go after what seemed like forever and it was none other than UK wrestling superfan MAD ELI! He knew me from about but was extremely ott for him to get me in a sleeper haha. I was like "what the fuck were you doing?!" but he just gabbled on nonsense about wrestling and goodness knows what as the girl still looked on like wtf. I hadn't explained my interest in wrestling to her and she was baffled that it wasn't a close relative or anyone I really knew as I tried explaining the situation while still flustered. Needless to say thanks to British Wrestling's badge headed embassador she was too freaked out by the crazy episode and we never met again.

I hope he was also wearing one of his crazy fucking hats as well!

  10. I bought Dutch Mantell's book, came the other day but when I tried to read it all the pages started falling out. I've got a replacement coming, so hopefully it won't be the same. Book seems decent enough but more a series of stories or topics than an autobiography.

I'd definitely recommend Dutch's book. Although, like you say it's not strictly an autobiography, it is fun with some amazing anecdotes and stories. I believe he's got another one in the pipeline.
