BATTLARTS on COMM - December 26, 2010, Tokyo - (1 1/4 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Tokyo - Kitasenju Theater 1010 (183 fans)

1. Akihito -vs- Kenji Takeshima [1/4*]

--- Annoying? No. Extremely boring? Yes. But that's a step forward for a Takeshima fight. Much thanks to Akihito keeping the match looking somewhat professional as they locked in holds. Takeshima shows he's miles behind everyone else and taps to Akihito's ankle hold.

9:30 of 9:28 - Akihito made Takeshima submit to a modified ankle hold

2. Yujiro Yamamoto -vs- Bison Tagai - (B-Rules) [1/2*]

--- Submissions only and Yamamoto is usually many times the master at that game compared to Tagai, but here he let Tagai in enough to make us think he had a chance. But it didn't really help the match much. Still uneventful with Yamamoto winning easy.

11:14 of 11:14 - Yamamoto made Tagai submit to a modified armlock

3. Ryuji Walter & Narita -vs- Tiger Shark & Sanchu Tsubakichi [3/4*]

--- Tsubakichi was bullied a lot and got what he deserved for pretending to have anything to do in the ring. Walter made sure he knew he's a waste of time and space and that made me happy.

13:30 of 13:30 - Walter made Tsubakichi submit to a necklock

4. Minoru -vs- Keita Yano [1/2*]

--- Minoru "back home" in Battlarts! And he gets to meet Yano. Bloody Yano.... and by God he close to squashes him!

10:35 of 10:34 - Minoru made Yano submit to a cross-armbreaker

5. Super Tiger II & Hideki Suzuki -vs- Yuki Ishikawa & Munenori Sawa [*]

--- Suzuki gets the better of Ishikawa! Ishikawa had beat him in a singles bout on October 24th, but here on Battlarts last show of the year Suzuki uses Dragon Suplexes to kill the boss! The match wasn't anything special. There was times when it seemed to pick up, but I found it all a bit messy for my taste.

17:03 of 17:03 - Suzuki defeated Ishikawa via Referee Stop after a Dragon Suplex

COMMENTS: Battlarts having a easy Christmas show is seems.

GRAN HAMADA on COMM - December 26, 2010, Osaka - (1 1/2 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Osaka

1. Tadanobu Fujisawa -vs- Pissaro [1/2*]

--- Never too interesting. The freak Pissaro showed some flying skills, but sadly not much else of skills. Fujisawa as the veteran of the two controled things and won a dull match with his sliding knee.

9:18 of 9:20 - Fujisawa pinned Pissaro after a sliding knee

2. Yumi Ohka -vs- Sawako Shimono [1/2*]

--- Not very exciting or inspirational joshi wrestling from Daijo/WAVE with rookie Shimono getting a few cradles while not really looking impressive one bit on this day. Ohka wasn't working hard either. At least not focused so it looked like a lazy match with the experienced one winning of course.

9:36 of 9:35 - Ohak pinned Sawako after a neck-hanging bomb

3. Takaku Fuke & Naoshi Sano & Flying Kid Ichihara -vs- Kurokage & Great Kaiser & Kenji Fukimoto [3/4*]

--- Various Osaka associates having a match. And just that. A random meaningless match filling the time before it was time for the comedy match.....at least it was better then then most of the other matches on the show.

10:43 of 10:42 - Fuka made Kaiser submit to a wakigatame armbar

4. Mil Mongoose -vs- Super Delfin -vs- Ultraman Robin - (3-Way) [1/4*]

--- Lame comedy.....REALLY LAME!!!

11:11 of 11:07 - Mongoose pinned Ultraman after a Firebird Splash

5. Gran Hamada & Great Sasuke & Tiger Mask I -vs- Mr.Pogo & Diablo & Toryu [*]

--- Hamada who had just turned 60 years old celebrating with a show teaming withe original Tiger Mask and the great Great Sasuke to get trashed by a bunch of heels for a few minutes. Naturally Hamada would get beat-up by the brawling lumps he faced. And naturally would Hamada win the match with a lucky cradle! Not very good, but had it's charm.

1:45 of 1:50 - Hamada & Sasuke & Tiger Mask I defeated Mr.Pogo & Diablo & Toryu by DQ

10:13 of 10:15 - Hamada pinned Diablo with a bodyscissor-rana

COMMENTS: Poor show celebrating 60 year old Gran Hamada.

KAGEKI PRO on COMM - December 26, 2010, Hakata - (2 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Hakata - Southern Pier Hakata Multi-Purpose Hall (160 fans)

1. Skull Reaper A-ji & Umanoseke Ueda II -vs- Shinichi Hayashida & Oga [1/2*]

--- Boring uneventful tag where the heels ruled enough to win.....

13:56 of 13:57 - Ueda pinned Hayashida after a lariat

2. Satoshi Ogawa & Kenshiro Yukimura -vs- Cosmo*Soldier & KING [*]

--- Never a super match, but it had it's moments once the big moves started coming. It looked like Yukimura was the fallguy, but he fought back after taking the Muscle Buster and top rope footstomp and once he was alone with KING he took him down by the neck DDT style several times until he kept the hold on the ground for KING to tap.

15:50 of 15:52 - Yukimura made KING submit to a ground necklock

3. Hanzo & Seiki -vs- Azteca & Dragon Yuki [3/4*]

--- Looked too much like satified indy veterans doing their spots and not doing much to highten the standard. Hanzo being the special guest had a thing going with the company main man Azteca which resulted rather unexpectedly that Hanzo beat him!

14:08 of 14:14 - Hanzo pinned Azteca after a headkick

4. Koji Niizumi & Kitai Kubo © -vs- KAZE & Isamu Taniguchi - (Hakata City Tag Title) [* 1/4]

--- Not very memorable wrestling, but Kubo had a minute in there were he was good and at the standard a wrestler should be showing some fire. They did keep it going, but you can't say the wrestling was going to revolutionize anything. Kaze & Taniguchi wasn't exactly super challengers either it felt like and the cooler heel duo took care of business effectively at the end.

20:40 of 20:41 - Niizumi pinned Kaze after a Emerald Frosion

COMMENTS: Not the best wrestling around.

OSAKA PRO on COMM - December 5, 12, 19, 23 & 26, 2010, Osaka - (2 1/4 hrs)

December 5, 2010, Osaka Minami Move On Arena (272 fans)

1. Kanjyouro Matsuyama -vs- Ultimate Spider Jr - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [*]

--- Strange watching Matsuyama in a serious bout with near falls and that kind of formula. And winning I might add! Hardly a classic, but much better then majority other Matsuyama stuff.....

1:38 of 12:10 - Matsuyama pinned Spider with a Tiger Suplex

2. Tsubasa -vs- Atsushi Kotoge - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [**]

--- A long struggle. Not always super exciting, but they got some hot moments out of it with Kotoge getting to be competitive with the veteran, but in the end Tsubasa was too strong dropping Kotoge down in nasty Emerald Frosion style drops before finally getting trapped with nowhere to go in a Dragon Sleeper after that.

5:58 of 25:35 - Tsubasa made Kotoge submit to a modified Dragon Sleeper

3. Kuuga -vs- Masamune - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [* 1/2]

--- Hardcore rules with this one as Kuuga is known for working the garbage environment while Masamune is not so used to it. And there was a bunch of bumps on ladders, chairs and buckets. Had it's moments, but I wasn't drawn in too much by all this. But at least it gave the Oska Pro Champion an excuse to win dropping Masamune down on some metal to win.

4:19 of 19:19 - Kuuga pinned Masamune after a Gamen Stamp on a bucket

4. Hideyoshi -vs- Billy Ken Kid - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [**]

--- Kind of the same deal as Kotoge vs Tsubasa except both are more established. However Billy had the support, but Hideyoshi is a lot bigger and powerful. And they sold it like a grueling battle without really doing enough to prove that, so when it came time to sell the pain and exhaustion it didn't really feel the same way as a fan and it became a lot of laying around after gimmick drops as Billy dropped Hideyoshi down on the apron side and also had a partial Vertigo landing without making the cover. So in the end Hideyoshi fought Billy off and locked him in a grounded Cobra Clutch of sorts with Billy tapping.

4:30 of 26:49 - Hideyoshi made Billy submit to a modified Cobra Clutch

December 12, 2010, Osaka Minami Move On Arena (273 fans)

5. The Bodyguard -vs- Zeus - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [*]

--- Technical marvel.....nah...ha ha ha. Osaka Pro's two bodybuilders having a pure impact bout clashing and clashing until Bodyguard started ripping off his top and Razor Edge'ed Zeus to oblivion!

2:17 of 9:36 - Bodyguard pinned Zeus after a running Razors Edge

6. Tigers Mask -vs- Miracle Man - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [* 1/2]

--- Miracle Man was in total serious gear and mood almost taking inspiration from MMA landing a nice knee to the head as Tigers was coming at him. Not that one was thinking he had a chance against a former Osaka Pro Champion, but it was nice to see him try before getting caught in a modified heel hold.

6:52 of 17:19 - Tigers mask made Mircale Man submit to a cross heel hold

7. Daisuke Harada -vs- Black Buffalo - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [** 1/2]

--- Now this was a match I wish had aired in complete form. Because in clipped from it looked like a really great match! Buffalo got his cut from his match with Masato Tanaka a couple of days earlier opened up and was bleeding and showing fighting spirit as he kept beating Harada bad while Harada lived for the late kick outs and occational comeback. It seemed to have a really strong climatic parts as the two battled it out and was figuring a way to put the other one away. Not sure how well this was played out if you keep in the pauses and streach it all out, but the crowd seemed to love it and execution was damn solid so I think it might have been a even better match had it been unedited. In the end Harada got to be the strongest beating Buffalo with a German Suplex.

6:55 of 22:52 - Harada pinned Buffalo with a German Suplex

8. Tadasuke -vs- Orochi - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 1) [* 1/2]

--- Had it's moments this one also, but not nearly as much passion shining through. Orochi seemed to be in good control kepping Tadasuke down with some cheating when needed, but Tadasuka was the face of the two dark guys and fought back to slam the snake guy down to win it.

4:37 of 22:07 - Tadasuke pinned Orochi after the Outkast slam

December 19, 2010, Osaka Minami Move On Arena (272 fans)

9. Hideyoshi -vs- Kanjyouro Matsuyama - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 2) [3/4*]

--- Poor Matsuyama got squashed. Matsuyama did get in a Go2 Sleep, but instead it was he that went a sleep after a series of vicious footstomps and a modified Crippler style Cobra Clutch.

2:16 of 7:14 - Hideyoshi defeated Matsuyama with the Katanagari

10. Daisuke Harada -vs- The Bodyguard - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 2) [*]

--- Bodyguard seemed to power down Harada effectively and looked to have the win at one point when he himself pulled Harada up from the mat wanting to finish it in style. That's when Harada woke up and roll'ed him up for the half-upset.

3:10 of 8:08 - Harada pinned Bodyguard with a counter cradle

11. Tigers Mask -vs- Tadasuke - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 2) [* 3/4]

--- Tadasuke had the big slams, but Tigers Mask had the intensity in his attacks! And looked much much sharper then Tadasuke which became very clear in the ending portions of the bout when Tadasuke had more then enough to stay alive there. And then Tigers Mask did a released Tigers Suplex landing nicely on the neck and followed up with a simple kneedrop to the neck to end it all.

4:46 of 15:48 - Tigers Mask pinned Tadasuke after a kneedrop to the back of the head

12. Kuuga -vs- Tsubasa - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Round 2) [* 1/2]

--- There was little doubt that Kuuga is the king of Osaka Pro at the moment holding the main belt and trashing Tsubasa here. Tsubasa tried once in a while, but Kuuga was always one level more destructive all the way until he had Tsubasa beat with the Suzumebachi.

5:04 of 9:01 - Kuuga pinned Tsubasa after a wrist-clutch fishermans buster

December 23, 2010, Osaka Minami Move On Arena (190 fans)

13. Kuuga -vs- Hideyoshi - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Semi-Final; Hardcore) [** 1/4]

--- They turned this into a hardcore match and damn was it brutal! And it was Hideyoshi who seemed to most bad tempered here. Those nasty chairshots made you feel sorry for the heel champion Kuuga! They kept using a ladder for bumps and hits along with Hideyoshi bringing out he sledgehammer HHH-style! Things didn't look good for Kuuga and it was almost a miracle he got the win, but using his Suzumebachi finisher landing on a ladder was a nice and vicious way for it to end.

7:35 of 22:00 - Kuuga pinned Hideyoshi after a wrist-clutch fishermans buster on a ladder

14. Daisuke Harada -vs- Tigers Mask - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Semi-Final) [**]

--- Tigers Mask continued to be a vicious fighter here as he'd been in the other Ten-No-Zan matches knocking Harada down endlessly. But he was unable to get the freaking pin! Harada in near dead state kept kicking out of whatever Tigers Mask came with. It got to the point where it was nearly ridiculous. Especially considering how well everything landed! And then Harada got a little comeback and landed a ruthless, but far from perfect running elbow smash and got the win!

13:53 of 28:25 - Harada pinned Tigers Mask after a running elbow

December 26, 2010, Osaka - Matsushita IMP Hall (732 fans)

15. Kuuga -vs- Daisuke Harada - (Ten-No-Zan '10 - Final) [* 3/4]

--- Long epic style final....which didn't really deliver to the fullest. Harada has been one of Osaka's most promising for years and here he's in the final of the annual Ten-No-Zan tournament up against the Osaka Pro champion. It's a career match. And he seems to not know how to put together a match which feels good. He looks a little bloated and out of shape, which is not good when you're having a stamina match like this, and Harada didn't really connect with the role all that well. Stagnating quite a bit in the developement there and showing he's more of a follower rather then a leader in the ring. Kuuga tries to be a cool 90's heel using weapons and having his posse with him to interfere. And they stay there a while until the babyfaces come chasing them out leaving the two to fight alone. And they have ref bumps and the usual cheap cheating along with a few drops until Kuuga wins it fairly unspectacularly.

25:47 of 25:48 - Kuuga pinned Harada after a wrist-clutch fishermans buster to win the Ten-No-Zan '10 Tournament.

COMMENTS: All the matches from the annual Ten-No-Zan 2010 Tournament. All except the final was edited which was a shame because some of the matches looked real good and should have been left alone like the Buffalo vs Harada and Kuuga vs Hideyoshi bouts for example. The first 4 matches can be found in longer format from the original TV broadcast of that December 5th show.

OSAKA PRO on SKY-TV - December 26, 2010, Osaka - (1 1/2 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Osaka - Matsushita IMP Hall (732 fans)

1. Hideyoshi & Masamune -vs- Tsubasa & Yutaka [*]

--- Yutaka getting some rub from Tsubasa getting to wear his costume and getting to be the main character. He ended up being the main punching bag too. And was soon enough taken care of by the fomer Osaka champion Hideyoshi.

6:13 of 12:34 - Hideyoshi made Yutaka submit to a Crippler Crossface

2. Orochi & Hayata & The Bodyguard -vs- Billy Ken Kid & Zeus & Takoyakida [* 1/4]

--- Ah....the Bodyguard vs Zeus clashes! Pure power madness! Until powder filled Zeus's face and Bodyguard knocked him down with a lariat for the pin. Really only a 2-count before Zeus kicked out, but I guess the referee had a little dust in his eyes too since he counted three.

6:10 of 11:17 - Bodyguard pinned Zeus after a lariat

3. Atsushi Aoki & Atsushi Kotoge & Ultimate Spider Jr -vs- Tigers Mask & Black Buffalo & Tadasuke [* 1/2]

--- "U! S! J!" Ultimate Spider Junior! He got himself the spotlight here and managed to hold his own on a team featuring Kotoge and NOAH wrestler Aoki! Ok action match overall and while USJ didn't get to be a part of the end, where Kotoge beat Takasuke, he still was the man of the match.

11:08 of 13:16 - Kotoge pinned Tadasuke with the Gannosuke Clutch

4. Shinjiro Otani & Kuishinbo Kamen & Ebessan III -vs- Miracle Man & Ranmaru & Kanjyouro Matsuyama [1/4*]

--- That Osaka comedy featuring special guest Shinjiro Otani! But it was still all the usual bits except Otani being there to finish off the match.

11:41 of 12:57 - Otani pinned Matsuyama with a Spiral Bomb

COMMENTS: Osaka Pro's last big show of 2010 is a slight let-down. The final should have been so much more and the undercard matches could have been more entertaining aswell. But this is kind of the day'n'age we're in.

Dragon Gate on PPV - December 26, 2010, Fukuoka - (3 3/4 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Fukuoka International Center (7,300 fans)

1. Kenichiro Arai & NOSAWA Rongai -vs- Super Shisa & Kotoka [*]

--- Just some snappy action to start the show. Didn't seem like many cared at all about this one. Can't blame them because this was a rather standard opener with Arai taking care of the kid.

9:00 of 9:00 - Arai pinned Ktoka after a top rope diving headbutt

2. Susumu Yokosuka -vs- Kagetora [* 1/2]

--- Fairly mechanical action sprint by the two with Kagetora looking good and bringing the best the match had to offer. But that was only so he'd look strong before doing the job to the former Open the Dragon Gate Champion.

9:00 of 9:01 - Yokosuka pinned Kagetora after the Mugen

3. Daio Gamma -vs- Darkness Dragon - (No-DQ) [* 1/4]

--- Darkness/weirdness match in a hardcore-lite Undertaker mentality bout. Not exactly super interesting and Gamma's character was just way too animated to really sink in. They used all sorts of weapons like tables, chairs, plastic railing. Anything they could get their hands on. And then it ended with a twisting moonsault with Dragon already laying on a streacher. After the match Brodie Lee invaded!

12:23 of 11:58 - Gamma pinned Dragon after a Skytwister Press

4. Masaaki Mochizuki & Don Fujii -vs- Ryo Saito & Genki Horiguchi -vs- Shingo Takagi & Cyber Kong - (3-Way Elimination) [**]

--- Chaotic 3-way in true Dragon Gate spirit. These guys have faced each other so many times over the years in these kinds of matches that it's not the same thrill anymore, but as a throw-away midcard filler match to decide the next challengers for the Open the Twin Gate Tag Title it was ok and featured enough acton to keep the fans entertained. Probable the biggest surprise was Genki beating Takagi very clean in there, but his side could not take care of the oldtimers Mochizuki & Fujii as Mochizuki kicked Saito down!

17:15 - Horiguchi pinned Takagi after a reversed piledriver

20:33 of 20:34 - Mochizuki pinned Saito after a high headkick

5. BxB Hulk -vs- YAMATO [** 3/4]

--- Grueling battle and this also had it's fair share of real scary bumps! Like the backflip like move where YAMATO landed right on his neck and the top rope suplex where it looked like they lost control just before landing! Plus the usual finisher mania with all kind of nasty drops for near falls. Hulk seemed the hungriest and got his big win deservingly after all his EVO variations had been tested and he had to pland a Phoenix Splash to get the pinfall. Wasn't an ultimate climax bout, but it had quite a few memorable moments.

19:49 of 19:49 - Hulk pinned YAMATO after a Phoenix Splash

6. Takuya Sugawara & Yasushi Kanda & Naoki Tanizaki © -vs- CIMA & Dragon Kid & Ricochet - (Open the Triangle Gate Title) [***]

--- Ricochet is popular with the boys because he can do extra rotations on his big moves. He's hardly a very natural wrestler. More a gymnast, but he brings the super flying the Dragon Gate fans love! And this was a spectacular extravaganza showcasing the happy wrestling. Some of his highlights was a massive long dive out from the ring jumping so high he nearly missed his opponents. He also did Jack Evans special, a 630 senton! That and a lot more fancy stuff to please the fans! And when the heel champions would get help from Gamma or general cheating then Brodie Lee would come in as extra enforcer take care of business! Yes, this was one of those super babyface matches.....with the happy ending too! As Ricochet making an instant hit in Japan winning the match for his side landing his double ratation moonsault on Kanda for the pin!

19:42 of 19:42 - Ricochet pinned Kanda after a double rotation moonsault. CIMA & Dragon Kid & Ricochet become the 31st Open the Triangle Gate Champions.

7. Masato Yoshino © -vs- Naruki Doi - (Open the Dream Gate Title) [** 1/2]

--- Yoshino defends the Open the Dream Gate Title against his former running-buddy Naruki Doi! They faced in 2009 aswell for the title when Doi had it in an average title defence when they were still tag partner, but now they are enimies so that gives a different dimention to the match-up then in '09. Well, not too much because they didn't really take advantage of the rivalry and hatred. It was still a speed fest filled with athletic wrestling and not enough fighting or heat. Sure had it's share of the spectacular wrestling without that really hightening the expeirence too much above just a entertaining bout. One of Doi's top moves with the top rope Tiger Suplex, but that didn't match Yoshino's top rope Lightning Spiral because that one got him the win after nearly 30 minutes of competitive Dragon Gate wrestling. V3 for Yoshino.

28:54 of 28:53 - Yoshino pinned Doi after a top rope Lightning Spiral to retain the Open the Dream Gate Title in his 3rd defence.

COMMENTS: Quite a good big show. Wish they'd done more about getting the message across in the main event, but otherwise entertaining show.

DDT on SAMURAI TV - December 26, 2010, Tokyo - (2 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (2,010 fans)

20101226091.jpg

1. MIKAMI & Onryo -vs- Mitsuya Nagai & Tanomusaku Toba [* 3/4]

--- A little too 'impact - stop' flow, but the moments they counted and landed hard. Loved the Onryo Tiger Driver '91 and Toba's punching. But MIKAMI came out with the hardest landing on a summersault rotation senton off the top rope! And that's why MIKAMI & Onryo will get a KO-D Tag Title shot in the near future.

6:40 of 10:40 - MIKAMI pinned Toba after the Deep "M" Impact

20101226060.jpg

2. Danshoku Dino -vs- Makoto Oishi [1/2*]

--- Ai, ai, ai. KUDO started the match as referee and Dino had a gay match with Oishi. But the real story was backstage where referee Matsui was trying to get to the ring and officiate, but was stopped by the GM giving him a liquid so that he'd get the shits and had to rush to the toilet. Once he was finish there he was ready to take on the world and there was no way the GM, Michael Nakazawa, fans, near naked Emi Sakura or puppys was going to stop him! And once he got to the ring he found Dino licking Oishi's ass.....and that's a NO-CONTEST!!!

9:06 of 9:08 - Dino wrestled Oishi to a No-Contest

20101226029.jpg

3. Antonio Honda -vs- GENTARO - (KO-D Interim Title Decison) [* 1/2]

--- KO-D Champion Dick Togo couldn't compete on this day so they decided to have a temperary champion decided between Honda and GENTARO. Old school mentality which is good, but not optimally executed. But at least better then most old school matches by GENTARO. But then again it was mainly a Honda match with him doing all his old school parodies and trying to be serious about it. One can only partly take it serious though as it's still Antonio Honda. Liked the way Honda got in the German and the enzuigiris. Brought back memories of Antonio Inoki. And then Honda won with the Octopus Hold to become the temperary KO-D Champion, but not the real champ, cause that's still the all-mighty Dick.

12:55 of 25:10 - Honda made GENTARO submit to a Octopus Hold

4. Yasu Urano & Rion Mizuki & Hoshitango -vs- KUDO & Keisuke Ishii & Kazuki Hirata [*]

--- All action with Hoshitango being on form aswell as the younger guys giving their energy to cheer up the fans. Still if you are a young guy, you're going to get beat and Urano took care of Hirata.

4:11 of 8:09 - Urano pinned Hirata after a Tombstone piledriver

20101226118.jpg

5. Michael Nakazawa & Hikaru Sato & Tomimitsu Matsunaga © -vs- HARASHIMA & Toru Owashi & Yukihiro Abe - (UWA Trios Title) [* 1/4]

--- The Shit Foundation defend the classic UWA Trios belts against the guys of Disaster Box. And I guess they needed to give the old Disaster Box guys some belts because they ended up winning them fairly easy. Hell, there's never a problem beating Michael. Easy entertainment wrestling until Michael was powerbomb by big Owashi.

6:14 of 11:41 - Owashi pinned Nakazawa with a powerbomb. HARASHIMA & Owashi & Abe become the UWA Trios Champions.

6. Takao Soma -vs- Daisuke Sasaki - (Loser Eats Dog Food) [1/4*]

--- Soma got loads of help from Michael & Matsunaga who beat up Sasaki and they also knocked the referee out with Soma winning as Michael used the referee's arm to count the three..... then they tried to feed Sasaki dogfood when Hikaru Sato got tired of this shit.... or of the Shit Foundation and turned on his pals to a good babyface reaction from the fans.

2:53 of 9:02 - Soma pinned Sasaki after a top rope legdrop

20101226042.jpg

7. Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega © -vs- Gedo & Jado - (IWGP Junior Tag Title) [** 1/4]

--- Another good defence from the Golden Lovers in DDT pushing off one more set of challengers from New Japan. This time very deservingly as I don't want to see those belts around Jado & Gedo's waists again. And this match focus a lot of Omega because Ibushi was having a bad wheel which got attacked by the evil twins. So Omega was the source of the happy spots as he fought back with his unique style. He did have a problem with one of his corner rolls being a little too close to the ropes, but otherwise he did well and the fans liked it. For me it missed something a little extra, but still a good match and the clear highlight on the show.

16:40 of 21:24 - Omega pinned Gedo with the Croyth's Wrath German Suplex. Ibushi & Omega retain the IWGP Junior Tag Title in their 2nd defence.

COMMENTS: The IWGP Junior Tag Title defence was good. So was most of the tags on the show even in edited form. And of couse there is the Honda vs GENTARO old style fighting to enjoy.

ICE RIBBON on Samurai TV - December 26, 2010, Tokyo - (2 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (889 fans)

1. Hikari Minami & Tsukushi -vs- Riho & Kurumi [1/2*]

--- Too many kids playing around. Straight forward action, but since most of these are early teens the work was light and kind of difficult to take serious in any way. The oldest girl took the victory as Minami caught a running Riho and suplexed her down for the count.

3:51 of 6:50 - Minami pinned Riho with a Capture Suplex

2. Danshoku Dino -vs- Miyako Matsumoto -vs- Chii Tomiya - (3-Way) [1/4*]

--- Lots of low blows and crap.....

4:38 of 5:47 - Dino made Matsumoto & Tomiya submit to a double-STF

3. Mio Shirai & Io Shirai -vs- Mai Ichii & Jessica Love [3/4*]

--- Finlands tranny wrestler Jessica Love getting to wrestle on Ice Ribbon's year-end Korakuen Hall show against the Shirai sisters. And we all agree that Love kissing the Shirai's was the real highlight.....don't we?

2:05 of 8:39 - Mio pinned Ichii with a schoolboy

4. Tajiri -vs- Makoto [*]

--- Special mentor match for Makoto with Tajiri controling things in a slow tempo locking Makoto in one hold after the other until he had her tapping to a Camel Clutch, giving Makoto only some short moments of joy before taking out the trash.

5:28 of 12:42 - Tajiri made Makoto submit to a Camel Clutch

5. Commando Bolshoi -vs- Tsukasa Fujimoto - (ICEx60 Title) [* 1/2]

--- Bolshoi, how could you?! Losing the meaningless Ice Ribbon belt to Fujimoto?! Oh well, Fujimoto is a former champion and I guess now the queen of the ICEx60 Title! The match saw Bolshoi being in control like she should going for submissions a lot. Especially on Fujimoto's leg without getting a tap. And when Bolshoi started locking in her chin-streach hold, Fujimoto surprised her and rolled the clowning veteran up for the three!

3:32 of 9:37 - Fujimoto pinned Bolshoi with a small package to become the ICEx60 Champion.

6. Yoshiko Tamura -vs- Hikaru Shida - (NEO/NWA Pacific Titles) [*]

--- My God, what a questionable title match. Shida?! She can barely go through a extended sequence without getting lost. And they had to drag this match out over 17 minutes?! Needless to say this was not very good. Well, majority of the way anyway. Dull, struggling and with a quiet crowd. They got more of a boost at the end with the final minutes of importance with Shida over-achieving bigtime and Tamura finally putting her away with the Hungary.

13:45 of 17:20 - Tamura pinned Shida after a wrist-clutch Northern Light Bomb to retain the NEO/NWA Pacific Titles in her 12th defence.

7. Emi Sakura & Hoshi Hamuko & Sayaka Obihiro -vs- Nanae Takahashi & Natsuki*Taiyo & Kazumi Shimouma - (Shimouma Retirement Match) [** 1/4]

--- Finaly we get rid of the super annoying Kazumi Shimouma! And another posititve is that the other girls like her so much that they want to make this match special for her working very hard to make it a fun match for her to go out on. This was not smart match as such. Just a very motivated work-rate bout with all the girls contributing to make it entertaining before it was time to put Shimouma out of her misary by letting Obihiro of all people to pin her with a strange, but loving roll-up.

18:20 of 22:32 - Obihiro pinned Shimouma with a modified roll-up

COMMENTS: Never expect quality from Ice Ribbon. They have a lightweight product living on the cham of it's unfinished wrestlers. So even with the title matches the undercard was nothing to brag about and Shimouma's send-off was pretty much the only thing we came to a highlight. This is the TV version where every match is edited in some way.

NEO on COMM - December 26, 2010, Tokyo - (2 hrs)

December 26, 2010, Tokyo - Itabashi Green Hall (267 fans)

1. Nagisa Nozaki -vs- Mika Iida [1/2*]

--- Nozaki getting a rare chance to play veteran beating little Iida simply.

6:02 of 6:03 - Nozaki defeated Iida with a sleeper

2. Aya Yuki -vs- Ryo Mizunami [* 1/4]

--- Sadly cut in half to make room for the long Rumble main event on this show. But these two have some kind of strange chemistry together. There is nothing pretty about what they do, but it does look like they're fighting and they land the moves hard. Highlight was probable Yuki's Kamikaze roll off the second rope, but no win and it ended a 15-min draw as Mizunami was about to land her top rope legdrop.

7:13 of 15:00 - Yuki wrestled Mizunami to a 15:00 Time Limit Draw

3. Mima Shimoda -vs- Kyoko Kimura [* 1/2]

--- Hard struggle. Fairly ugly fight too with Shimoda accidentally hurting her mouth as she was about to swear. And it was a stiff knocks kind of match and hardly fresh or creatived. But it had the fighting and some excitement crept in as Kimura was trying to stay alive. But after enough finishers Shimoda took care of the current generation wild one and shows that old is always best.

12:36 of 17:31 - Shimoda pinned Kimura after a second rope Tiger Suplex

4. Toshie Uematsu -vs- Yuki Miyazaki [*]

--- These two have always been kind of similar. Both had the potential and heart early in their career, but then dwelled into half-assedness with a almost equal style and mindset. And it was a fairly half-assed match they brought too. Nothing special about it. Just their mindgame tricks with Uematsu pulling the longest straw.

14:05 of 14:05 - Umeatsu pinned Miyazaki with a small package

5. Yoshiko Tamura -vs- Tanny Mouse [* 1/4]

--- Was actually exciting in short parts, but of course a 20-min Tanny vs Tamura match.....you know. Mostly serious with Tanny trying to step up to Tamura's level in their last ever singles match before they retire in 5 days. And Tanny did well, but Tamura is several levels above and took care of the shit with the Mount Cook.

20:18 of 20:20 - Tamura pinned Tanny with the Mount Cook

6. 30-Person Royal Rumble [* 1/2]

--- One of the funny traditional things NEO brought was these big joke of a Royal Rumbles to the scene. Never serious events, but still loved by the fans as they bring in all kind of workers from the indy world to make them special. They've had a few over the years with the biggest being a 60-person Rumble. Here for their final big Rumble they bring half of that with 30 persons (minus the wrestlers that did double-duty). And as usual it's filled with silly stuff and a lot of smiles. They even brought back My Kitty who eliminated Shiryu, Uematsu & Yu Yu before the stuffed toy was taken out in moment of the match as Miyazaki landed a moonsaulting double-footstomp to pin it! Another heart-warming moments was the return of Kyoko Inoue who left the company back in May when it became clear the company was shutting down. She was only in a short while but got to stiff her former students the way she's always done before Yoneyama out of nowhere rolled her up for the pin! Then the road was fairly easy for Tamura who won the Rumble she started with Kana after 45 minutes of nutty stuff.

(6:19) - Kana eliminated

(7:23) - Policewoman & Vampire Rat Witch Chibi Rat eliminated

(13:17) - Megumi Yabushita & Kagetsu eliminated

(16:55) - Tsubo Genjin eliminated

(18:58) - Aya Yuki eliminated

(21:28) - Kinnikuman Hirota eliminated

(24:02) - DJ Nira eliminated

(24:58) - Hiroyo Matsumoto eliminated

(26:18) - Tsubasa Kuragaki & Kayoko Haruyama eliminated

(27:02) - Hamuko Hoshi eliminated

(27:37) - Riho eliminated

(31:37) - Misaki Ohata & Hiroyo Momoe (Hiroyo Matsumoto) eliminated

(33:02) - Mika Iida eliminated

(34:53) - Chou-un Shiryu eliminated

(35:21) - Toshie Uematsu eliminated

(35:35) - Ran Yu Yu eliminated

(36:30) - Kitty-chan eliminated

(38:34) - Ryo Mizunami eliminated

(38:55) - Stan Hansen Hirota eliminated

(41:30) - Kyoko Inoue eliminated

(41:44) - Kaori Yoneyama eliminated

(43:20) - Yuki Miyazaki & Tanny Mouse eliminated

(44:37) - Mima Shimoda eliminated

(45:15) - Nagisa Nozaki eliminated

45:15 of 45:15- Yoshiko Tamura win the 30-Person Royal Rumble

COMMENTS: One of the more interesting NEO shows for the last-ever-fights and the big Rumble!

NEO on COMM - December 27, 2010, Tokyo - (2 hrs)

December 27, 2010, Tokyo - Edogawa-ku Eastern Friend Hall (214 fans)

1. Kaori Yoneyama -vs- Vampire Witch Chibi Rats [1/2*]

--- Tanny Mouse retiring the Devil Rat gimmick with a loss to the JWP Champion Yoneyama. As you can guess, rat or mouse, a Tanny match will not be good.

7:12 of 7:12 - Yoneyama pinned Rat after the Doube-Arm T

2. Sakura Hirota -vs- Policewoman [1/4*]

--- Then it's Yuki Miyazaki's turn to retire her secondary gimmick. The one she used in Osaka Pro. Policewoman. And against Sakura Hirota in rookie gear for a stupid match.

14:03 of 14:03 - Hirota pinned Policewoman after pulling the rug from under her

3. Hiroyo Matsumoto & Misaki Ohata & Kagetsu -vs- Mima Shimoda & Cherry & Miki Iida [3/4*]

--- For the most part boring running around and doing random stuff until someone beat the little NEO rookie.....

17:03 of 17:03 - Ohata pinned Iida after a top rope bodypress

4. Yuki Miyazaki & Tanny Mouse -vs- Kyoko Kimura & Tomoka Nakagawa [* 1/2]

--- .....and then comes the NEO Machine Guns match.....and it's almost good at times as the Revolution Amandola side brawls their way through the match with chains and chairs trying to murder the Machine Guns slowly. Sadly the slow kill didn't work and Tanny beat he weaklink on the RA team, but at least the heels tried before the 'faces' ruined the party.

16:19 of 16:20 - Tanny pinned Nakagawa with the Mission Possible cradle

5. Yoshiko Tamura & Aya Yuki -vs- Aja Kong & Ayako Sato [* 1/4]

--- Standard fighting. Not all aggressive, but filled with enough to keep it floating with Tamura and Aja fighting being the most interesting before it shifted to Sato so that Tamura could win on her own final local return match using the Mount Cook to beat the little girl.

13:07 of 13:07 - Tamura pinned Sato with the Mopunt Cook

COMMENTS: What you'd learned to expect from NEO over the last 10 years.

OSAKA PRO on HAND-HELD - December 28, 2010, Osaka - (1 hr)

December 28, 2010, Osaka - Minami Move On Arena (71 fans)

1. Tadasuke -vs- Ultimate Spider Jr. [3/4*]

--- Happy match with USJ doing his thing trying to get over as this silly hero. Naturally he gets beat up!

9:13 of 9:13 - Tadasuke pinned Spider after the Chingy

2. Aussie Osborne -vs- Hayata [* 1/4]

--- Aussie Aussie Osborne getting a chance to shine in Osaka Pro. And while he's not super, he still entertained the few fans that had showed up for this small show. Typical indy dude doing a few fancy moves. Some too fancy as he partly missed his finisher - the Flying Kangaroo! Thats a Skytwister press.

7:49 of 7:44 - Osborne pinned Hayata after the Flying Kangaroo

3. Billy Ken Kid & Atsushi Kotoge -vs- Daisuke Harada & Takoyakida [3/4*]

--- More half-comedy/action match. Typical Osaka style happy match. Easy fun for the fans with Kotoge taking care of the biggest clown in the match, Takoyakida, for the pin.

11:34 of 11:26 - Kotoge pinned Takoyakida after the Kill Switch

COMMENTS: So this is how those small daily Osaka Pro shows are like. Simple fun, but absolutely nothing of importance.

NEO on Samurai TV - December 31, 2010, Tokyo - (3 hrs)

December 31, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (1,750 fans)

1. Kagetsu -vs- Miki Iida [1/2*]

--- NEO's final show starts with their final rookie losing her 8th NEO match which means she never got to win a single match and was the jobber in ALL her matches in NEO. And the girl that got to beat her on the last show was Sendai Girls Kagetsu using a springboard dropkick to easily take care of the girl that's sadly taken some inspiration from Tanny Mouse.

4:20 of 7:34 - Kagetsu pinned Iida after a springboard dropkick

2. Emi Sakura & Hikaru Shida & Tsukasa Fujimoto -vs- Mima Shimoda & Hiroyo Matsumoto & Nagisa Nozaki [*]

--- Easy action with Sakura wearing sunglasses at the start of the match in charge of directing traffic and gets the honors of beating the injury effected NEO trainee Nozaki with a Firebird.

5:24 of 10:11 - Sakura pinned Nozaki after a Firebird Splash

3. Yuki Miyazaki & Tanny Mouse -vs- Kayuko Haruyama & Toshie Uematsu [*]

--- The last pure NEO Machine Guns match! I thought this moment would never come! And they had to drag it out doing so many of the usual Machine Guns including a trolly version of the Super Shy Hold. They tried to have some deadly action aswell, but that part never got exciting except for the ender which landed fantastic. Miyazaki with the moonsault double-footstomp killing Uematsu effectively! Now it's just 2 more Tanny matches to go on this show......

25:03 of 25:03 - Miyazaki pinned Uematsu after a moonsault double-footstomp

4. Mio Shirai & Io Shirai -vs- Aya Yuki & Makoto [*]

--- The Shirai sisters brining some cool action, but not much fanfare as the match never picks up steam and only a few 'wow' moments as the quebrada came and a couple of other moments before the summersault dropkick put Makoto out.....

6:14 of 8:37 - Io pinned Makoto after a Riderkick

5. Tanny Mouse -vs- Yuki Miyazaki [*]

--- The last ever Tanny vs Miyazaki singles bout. And Tanny had to slap the tears out of Miyazaki's face before the match could get going. And it was a typical Machine Guns wrestling with the basic cradles and not so impressive impact blows. Tanny moved out of the moonsault footstomp and the match went into cradle mode until Tanny stole the win with the Mission Impossible cradle. Only one more Tanny match to go.....

10:41 of 10:41 - Tanny pinned Miyazaki with the Mission Possible cradle

6. Yoshiko Tamura © -vs- Ayumi Kurihara - (NEO/NWA Pacific Titles) [** 3/4]

--- I'm not sure which of the two big Tamura vs Kurihara NEO Double Title I like better. Both are damn good. Well layed out, some great parts, but lacking that little something extra to become a modern classic. At least this one had the happy new generation ending as Kurihara managed to beat Tamura and end her 7th reign as NEO champion in Tamura's final singles bout of her 15 year career! A little too slow and lack on impact in the early stages for my liking. They could have just cut this down 10 minutes and had a more energetic approach for better effect. Some of the top moments during the build-up was Tamura's rolling senton off the top rope putting Kurihara through a table out on the floor side. For the climax portion Tamura landed hard elbows, her Patriot moves and the Mount Cook with Kurihara doing a miraculous kick-out of the move nobody kicks out of!!! Then it was Kurihara on fire! She did something so out of context for her like a brutal headbutt before throat slam suplexing Tamura 5 times before putting the final nail in the coffin with a wrist-clutch version to win the NEO belts! Wonderful ending!

27:14 of 27:14 - Kurihara pinned Tamura after a wrist-clutch throat slam suplex to become the 23rd NEO/NWA Pacific Champion.

7. Yoshiko Tamura & Yuki Miyazaki & Tanny Mouse -vs- Aya Yuki & Nagisa Nozaki & Miki Iida - (NEO Dissolution/Tamura & Miyazaki & Tanny's Retirement Match) [*]

--- The final NEO match. With the final official NEO wrestlers left. The retiring girls on one side and the younger ones that's not giving up yet on the other. Plus special guest referee, the retired Grace working this historic moment. And it was NEO action with it's faults and charms for a 10-min final

Ok, thats the last 2010 show I have for now! The 5 year project completed! I'll post the 2006 to 2009 shows I've received over the last 6 months shortly. This means I've been watching around 2,400 shows with 15,000 matches during that period and reviewing them all. Insane, but I've done it :D It's had it's ups and downs with a lot of crap, but it's been fun following the entire Japanese wrestling scene even if it had declined over the years. Overkill by far, but that's how I do it :D

TOSHIKOSHI on Samurai TV - December 31, 2010, Tokyo - (4 hrs)

December 31, 2010, Tokyo - Korakuen Hall (2,011 fans)

1. Hikari Minami & Riho & Tsukushi -vs- Bambi & Makoto & Hamuko Hoshi [*]

--- Ice Ribbon style action mess. Ugly mostly bad looking wrestling with a lot of charm and some surprises. At least they started this indy mashdown with a happy atmosphere with little Riho landing a Somato to win it over Hoshi.

9:29 of 9:29 - Riho pinned Hoshi with a Somato double-knee attack

2. Takao Soma & Ryuichi Sekine & Takumi Tsukamoto -vs- Hiro Tsumaki & Akihito & Tatsuhiko Yoshino [*]

--- Little more professional looking, but not as charming as the little girls. Basic puroresu with Big japan's Tsukamoto winning with a crab hold.

11. Atsushi Ohashi -vs- GENTARO - (Seven Referees) [* 1/2]

--- GENTARO did this gimmick at the Sapporo Festival back in October. That time they had 5 referees, however this time there is SEVEN!!! With everyone doing body-checks with some finding weapons and some not. Some wanting DQ's and some counting the three. The thing was that every referee had to agree on the decision. We also had a 7-ref bump! So another referee came out. The king of refs in Japan. All Japan's Kohei Wada! But even if he awarded the win to GENTARO they all had to agree anyway regardless of his seniority. And it looked like GENTARO had won, but then they noticed there was a referee missing and up from the floor came a dazed DDT referee Matsui. And with all EIGHT referees arguing Ohashi rolled GENTARO up for the unanimous pin!

Pure silly battle royal fun with guys from all over the scene with Dino seemingly winning before WWE's Funaki came out and tried to escape Dino's gayness and in the process managed to win the thing. There was also the time when Dino was having a '3-way' with Shinobu and Golden Pine. Keep an open mind......

--- Happy New Year! 2011 started during this bout. And this was the best match the show had to offer. Still it wasn't a complete climax experience even if we got a fair share of indy heavyweight fighting toward the end. Tamura's over the top rope elimination looked like a fluke as he was doing an armringer and fell off. Regardless the end was all about the bigger guys with Mammoth getting the happy win with a nasty brainbuster.
