Just read Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash and I must say I was very surprised at just how well it worked. I really hope they decide to make the movie eventually.

Hence why it's better
Halloween 3 wasn't a proper Halloween film and you know it.Am I the only person who hates every Halloween film but the third installment?

True but it can also be attributed to middle aged women. I had Son of Ranbow spoilt for me due to this chuckling women who had about a 10 minute laughing fit over a not-that-funny part of the film. Teenagers in general spoil it for film fans like me. When I ended up seeing Billy Elliot in London and the women in front were certain the second we walked in that we would somehow ruin the play for them. They didn't even disguise that they were talking about us and the conversation actually stretched into the play. It's mainly teenage girls with sawdust for brains. Transformers was completely spoilt for me by the wannabe wags behind me giggling and commenting their way through the film, until I broke with the usual British demeanour and asked them to be quiet, politely. When 5 minutes later they were still at it, I stood up and loudly told them to shut the fuck up or I'd get management to kick them out. Luckily the shock of someone actually telling them off shocked them into relative silence, but of course by then it had fucked up my enjoyment of what was meant to be a nice nostalgic trip. Even my wife got involved, that's how annoying they were.

Women and cinemas don't mix unless you're just going in hope for a bit of a reward later. My many trips to the cinema have confirmed this (with few exceptions).
-
Agreed, Taken was a pure bag of cheese. Great fun especially if you like watching Liam Neeson beating people up which, lets face it, who doesn't?
-
I'd like to add to the love for Step Brothers and also Pineapple Express, both of which made me laugh (a task I thought was impossible with recent comedy titles).
-
Yeah that is right, but I do thank everyone for all their suggestions. I may look into that Transmetropolitan.EDIT - I got the impression he was looking for non-Garth Ennis stuff after only having read his books so far...
-
Wonder if anyone can help out. I'm looking for a graphic novel much like Ennis' work with Preacher and Chronicles of Wormwood (kinda dark humour mixed with a fair story) but I don't want to keep buying everything by him! I'm new to the whole graphic novel scene so be gentle.I've also heard good things about The Sandman, Fables and Rising Stars, can anyone confirm that they are awesome?

"...with some fava beans and a nice chianti."
He's took the two of us and dropped us in the meat grinder.
How did I get dragged into this?I never said he was a positive person anyway, positive people are fake. Had I called him that I'd have expected a slap in the face for my words. I'm saying he can be positive and saying being positive in a review isn't the same is almost as ridiculous as Krazy's comment on watching The Butterfly Effect from earlier in the thread.
-
A positive review involves passion and enthusiasm, saying "yeah that film was good" is just avoiding the subject. To give a real positive review you have to be fairly positive, at least at the time, yourself.
How so? there is a huge difference between talking about how good a film or something is, and being positive/upbeat as a whole. Even someone coping with manic depression can go "yeah that film was good", but you won't see them throwing smiles everywhere will you.

Yeah in my post I said he's being a critic, that includes reviewing things right? Reviewing something positively is totally different to being a positive person.I admit maybe I don't look hard enough, but thats usually because as soon as I see one of his posts i'll be like ugh With almost everyone else I see they've posted and expect something different every time, with Seven I don't, I see he's posted and know what downbeat miserable crap or in depth review that i've got in store.
He's just an opinionated person and one of the few who backs up his claims. I've seen him being enthusiastic and, of course, negative. There's a thread where he reviews going to see Vampire Weekend, Rage Against The Machine and others and that post is very positive and you can clearly see that he's very passionate about it. He'd just rather be honest than sugarcoat things. You clearly haven't been looking hard enough.
Maybe he's just a grumpy fucker because i've yet to read one upbeat or funny post from him yet, he's either being a critic or moaning at/about someone.
JesuSlipknotThe Assasination of Jessie JamesThere. Three things off the top of my head I KNOW Seven likes...Actually not 100% sure about Jesu but pretty sure. Looking on here for about 40 seconds would probably show if he does/doesn't.It's wrong to say Seven doesn't like anything, he's just a person who's pretty picky about giving praise to things and there's nothing wrong with that, in fact if you've been on here for any length of time and that pisses you off then hey, I wonder if you should be here Seven could probably make a good critic. somedayDon't dare feel sorry for me you fucking cumstain. I'm not in any mode where I "can't enjoy stuff" . I love and hate with equal measure, and I never engage an art form like it's an exam, so no, retract your pity, and don't bother giving your opinion when it comes to me, because you're just a little boy who has no clue about anything, despite how much you bang on about your girlfriend or your band.

While I enjoyed it almost equally and do feel it may have beat out The Dark Knight I must admit to still prefering the first film. I guess I noticed the new one's flaws a lot more because of how much I rate the first (I consider it the best comic book adaptation film I've seen). I think that the entire German character (I wont elaborate as to avoid spoiling and because I've forgotten his name) should be cut out as he wasn't funny in the slightest - just cringeworthy. I also prefered David Hyde Pierce's voicing of Abe but I guess that couldn't really be helped and Doug Jones did try his best. Sometimes the actors appeared to be forcing the comedy aspects (apart from Ron Pearlman) which, again, brought my overall view of the film down. Agreed completely on Del Toro though, everything I've seen by him I rate exceedingly high.Hellboy 2 is tremendous. Excuse me for not elaborating into a massive essay for the likes of Famous Mortimer but I am drunk and not planning to stay online for awhile and make tonnes of spelling mistakes and such, but suffice to say, it's wonderful. I loved the first one but this is so much better. The acting is great, the set pieces are stunning and the overall tone is perfect. Much better than The Dark Knight, Guillermo Del Toro is one of cinema's finest treasures.

The Breakfast Club is one of my favourite films ever, go for that.

Hate to come along and brownose you a bit here Sev, but I agree with most of what you said and am quite glad someone has come out and pointed the flaws in The Dark Knight (most seem to just tip-toe around the subject). Although I admit that Heath's performance lived up to the hype (yes I do Schizo), I utterly despise those who are saying that it was his film. Aaron Eckhart gives a fantastic showing as Dent and Gary Oldman is perfect as Gordon. I thought Bale was pretty good playing an arrogant yet conflicted Bruce Wayne but WAS a rather sucky Batman. That voice thing, while understandable, made him sound like Darth Vader when his voicebox is on the blink.

EDIT - While we're on the subject of worst films, which of the LOTR trilogy do you think would make the cut?
-
It's the new black.Rod, stop being an arrogant cunt, it doesn't suit you.

The TWCF in my sig you mean? ;)I'm sure they're not all saying it, but some people consider Kiera Knightley to be a good actress and not just a sound piece. It's a sad thing to consider that some may be saying it.Nice edit.
It is a good defense though. It is just as fun to watch you look like a tool trying to goad ex-TWCF'ers into having hissy fits - now grow up and stop pissing on the topic. ...Now then. Sure, we have not seen the performance yet, but I would bet that it will be cracking. Everyone in the universe seems to think so, and im sure their not all saying it because he is dead.Hah it's fun to watch you get defensive lad.Hypothetical can come into it as we haven't actually SEEN the performance yet, if you want to be snippy.

Hypothetically can throw itself off a fucking bridge though. His performance is anything but wooden. Like the portrayal or hate it, its still not wooden. I would still of course fully expect screaming fans to call it Oscar worthy. But thats another argument for another day that will never come, because his performance is not wooden, and he wont be participating in any sequel due to a slight case of death, rendering any hypothetical argument a waste of time. And I am not getting worked up. Sad truth is, I have fuck all to do in this moment in time. Dont assume because im asking you about the S word that im getting worked up. But if your going to bring a name from the past up, of course im going to fucking respond and say something, besides which you are worse to even bring it up, so you have no argument.
Hypothetically, what if his performance was wooden? What if he completely honed it in and was a total shambles? That could've happened. Heck it might even be the case now. I'm just going on experience that no one seems to want to say anything bad about the dead and would rather make out that everything they touched in life turned to gold. It's also possible that he'll be amazing, however my concern about it is as mentioned above. And the reason I mention Schizo is because it's slightly humorous to see how worked up you get about it.
Well you have yet to tell me why the fuck you would even want to bring 'Schizo' into it in the first place, so I will assume for now its some sort of attempt to get a rise out of ex-TWCF'ers. Something im not getting wound up in. If you want to lure somebody in for a little get together flame war, as opposed to a decent wrestling discussion, for your new home - then knock on Mab's door, not mine. Now for the actual topic...Attention, yeah, you are absoloutely right. The film would have recieved less attention. I was not reffering to attention though, was I? Again, you are right that casual movie watchers would not have cared so much about Heath had he not died, but the performance would still have been fantastic. But their are of course people out their who will strip that away anyway. The anti "fuk u, he dyed makin dis all u eva did waz suk ur mutha's dik" crowd. The controversial ''lads'' of the internet who will delight in saying the only reason the performance ever got praise is because he is dead. Which, like I was trying to say in my first post, is utter bollocks. Sure their are people that are going to over hype things a little, but his portrayal is undeniably mesmorising. Dead or alive.I don't know who you are to tell me what my main argument was sunshine.

I don't know who you are to tell me what my main argument was sunshine. And if you want to be petty I said "it seems" about the Heath Ledger thing originally over your FACTS!~ about how the film was always going to be awesome and how Heath was always going to be awesome and such. I was making the point that, if it wasn't for his death, this film probably wouldn't have recieved a lot of the attention it has recieved (some, of course, it's Batman) and I don't feel that any of the casual movie watchers would've cared so much about Heath Ledger's involvement. It's not hard to imagine the internet backlash(!) that would follow anyone saying Heath's performance wasn't good. It'd be comments like "fuk u, he dyed makin dis all u eva did waz suk ur mutha's dik" galore.Schizo.

The Schizo thing wasn't the main stem of my insult you bint, I was more refering to the contradictive and opinionated view you expressed which must "obviously" apply to everyone despite the fact that the name Heath Ledger didn't really get further than "the gay cowboy knight guy?" with the casual movie goer until he popped his clogs.
Nice move. You ignore any constructive criticism and instead go for the ''hey, he posted on our forum a while back!'' card. Still, if turning a perfectly fine topic into a stupid fucking inter-forum flame war is your game, then the floor is yours. I have better things to do than think about what happened in internet land anytime past yesterday.
There is a lot wrong with this post, I'll just leave it here for people to work it out. Something you'd expect from Schizo...
To be honest im more pissed off at the people who assume the only reason his performance is being spoken of so highly is because he is dead, which is complete bollocks. This film, and Heath, were always going to kick serious ass. The only thing different is that the film now has gotten much larger attention.I'm really looking forward to the Dark Knight but I'm pissed off with the Heath Ledger hype, it really seems that just because he died after "becomming the character" that people feel afraid to give it a bad review as it may be disrespectful to the dead. Also Batman Begins was shitty, so part of me is thinking I'll not enjoy this as much as everyone else seems to be.

Can't really say much more than this, but I feel that Mewes was the one who stole the show. The "that's good coffee!" line had me in tears.

As did the entirity of the "cream" scene, as much as I dislike Apatow he has introduced me to Seth Rogan so for that I'm greatful.
