  1. Bruno was very hit or miss and not quite as funny as Borat. Shame too as Bruno was probably the funniest character on the TV show. That being said however, near the end things did start getting very funny and more to the Borat standard (or whatever), I just think that maybe it jumped the shark a bit.
  2. Happy Potter and the Half Arsed Pile of Wank

What a crock of shit. Such a terrible movie. David Yates and Warner have completely ruined the franchise. I was looking on Wiki and critics are actually praising that piss poor attempt at a movie. Yates is directing style is awful. Anyone with a shred of credibility should of turned down appearing in something with that piss poor attempt at a script. Conveys nothing from the book at all. Really truely awful. Ginny, Hermione, Fred, George, all played by shit actors once again. And I agree alot with what Insert_Name_ Here said. Worst of lot really. Worse than 5 and thats saying something. Yate's directing style is truely awful. Piss poor. dissapointing.

Are you trying to imply that it was a flaw on the director's part that he did not cast new actors to play these characters even though they've already appeared in FIVE films?

When one of his arguments is essentially "it's nothing like the book" you know there's no point addressing it.

  3. I thought Black Sheep was a perfect example of a film trying way too hard. It also wasn't sure whether it wanted to be a legit horror with cheesy elements (see almost every 80s horror film ever made) or a comedy that parodies horror (see Shaun of the Dead).

I don't think it matters. Surely you don't need to pigeon hole a movie into a particular genre to enjoy it? I see where your coming from as I remember watching black sheep and thinking similar things. Just see it how you want to see it. I personally thought it was a great film, it was essentially a horror comedy, a genre which is becoming more and more filled out in recent years with stuff like the cottage, which I also quite enjoyed, even if it did have Jenifer Elleson in it.

It mattered more because it actually worked as being a legit horror with cheesy elements. When it tried to be a full on comedy I stopped enjoying it and it was also really jarring to have it jumping between the two throughout.

Also, to be honest, it was quite boring anyway.

  4. Watched Twilight for the first time today. Personally I didnt think it was amazing but I can see why it's popular.

Twilight doesn't deserve anything even remotely positive or constructive said about it. It's the only film I've ever walked out of the cinema during. Not even bad in a funny way, just mind numbingly awful on every single possible level.

  5. Drag Me To Hell - Whilst undoubtedly very good, it's outrageously silly at times. That's clearly the intention but it sort of spoiled the film a little bit. Slightly surprised at the fact it's getting called the best horror film in years. It may be great but the large of amounts of humour really detract from the horror elements and ensure that all but the tensest moments are devoid of any real scare.

I'm the only one seemingly not getting the love for this movie. While I thought some scenes were pretty nifty, overall it was just pretty silly really. I'm down with the whole supernatural elements, because it would be pretty silly to have that as a gripe in a film of this sort, but the way it which its all executed is disappointing. The scares are the same old, same old type of "everything goes still and silent, the BANG goes a loud noise and something pops up" thing, thats really just jumpy bits rather than an actual scare or do anything in the way of creating tension.

That's the charm of some of the 80s horror titles that it was based on though. Evil Dead is the perfect example (same director too, obviously) of this.

  6. LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT ( 2009 REMAKE ) - 7.5/10

Well this turned out much better than I'd expected to be honest as normally remakes are a bit shite, overall I couldnt fault it 1 bit apart from the bit right at the end I didnt know if the dad really did that or not.

It would of been better if I hadnt already seen the original but I saw it that long ago ( about 12 years ) that I'd forgot bits and pieces but remembered the main parts like who dies etc.

Still well worth a watch though I reckon.

    I agree it's well worth a watch.

The rape scene was incredibly hard to watch.

Also agree about that bit you mentioned, not sure if he did or not.

If it wasn't for the fact the trailer basically gave away these parts, they could be classified as spoilers.

  7. just something regarding the 'doesn't Wolverine age' argument.

seeing's that Wolverine has regenerative powers, isn't it obvious to realise that once the guy reaches his peak physical prowess, he stays that way?

and as for me saying 'it was well made', i was talking from a technical standpoint, it's a slick piece of movie making, i don't think anyone can deny that.

I'm surprised you could type that in between dribbling all over your keyboard.

Bit harsh like, but you seem to be skim reading the majority of posts and just going "duh, I agree".

  8. i just saw Wolverine and i thought it was a good fucking night at the cinema. I think people over analyze these types of movie..."so is his jacket indestructible too?", who gives a fuck?? it's a comic book movie.

As for the relating stories to the other movies and whatever, not really bothered. You can kinda look at this as a stand alone piece. Obviously there's a nice little cameo tie-in to the first X-Men film, but continuity and that didn't deter me from enjoying it in any way.

    I liked.

When you can attempt a decent argument and not go for the whole predictable and clueless over-analysing deal (in a topic about reviewing films shockingly) then come back and attempt to defend the film, you fool.

  9. Wolverine

This is the most cliche movie I think I've ever seen. I probably predicted the entire storyline in about twenty minutes and it was painful to watch. So Wolverine's jacket and bike are indestructible too? And if he has his memory wiped how did he find them again later? The only thing that was ok about this entire film was the Gambit, Deadpool and Sabertooth characters.

  10. Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me for any essential graphic novels that I haven't picked up yet (so no Preacher, 100 Bullets, Fables, Watchmen, V For Vendetta, Transmetropolitan, or whatnot). I'm really considering picking up a copy of Jack Of Fables if anyone can recommend that?

I was also considering Rising Stars or something with Deadpool...

  11. I nearly had sex with Alexandra Fletcher. Alas I called her Jacqui one too many times and my chances were over.

How did you "nearly" shag her? Either you did or you didn't. Nearly don't come into it. Even if you were getting on well with her, doesn't mean you were going to shag her.

Wow, I'm surprised that didn't take your head off.

  12. Watched one called Brooklyn Rules the other day and thought it was pretty entertaining. Freddy Prinze Jr., Alec Baldwin, Scott Caan and Jay Ferrara can't really go wrong.

    :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

    Yeah man, stellar cast.

there aint anything wrong with Freddie Prinze Jr.

    Ah, blissful ignorance.

    Also, it's "isn't".

  13. You could argue that this is because the conventions of the slasher film have been done to death by this point, but I'd still maintain that something like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre stands up extremely well today

I don't think that's a fair criticism when Halloween essentially created all of those conventions. Halloween is a great film, sure there are some cheesy bits but thats mainly down to the low budget and it's age. It's still one of the best and most important horror movies ever made.

Just because it's important doesn't mean it's that good, the conventions it created can and have been bettered.

  14. I watched the shawshank redemption..immense film really immense.

    Really, really immense?

I've still got New Nightmare to sit through and then Hellraiser or the original Dawn of the Dead to follow, but I took a break from this glutton de horror to watch Enchanted which I'm not afraid to admit I loved. Probably the best Disney film since Toy Story 2!

  15. I've recently watched all the Nightmare on Elm Streets (not including New Nightmare) and I've enjoyed the majority. I think my order of preference is, from best to worst, Dream Warriors, Dream Child, original, Freddy's Revenge, Freddy's Dead, The Dream Master. I can't remember enjoying New Nightmare on first watch, but I hope rewatching it will change my view. Dream Master and Freddy's Dead are truely awful, but the rest are pretty good. Freddy's Revenge is one of the most under-rated horror sequels, next to Halloween 3.
