  1. I watched 'Two Summers' (a Brazilian film) in midweek. I had high hopes as it's by the director of 'The Man Who Copied' but I was slightly disappointed. It's a nice enough story and has great scenery but felt a little empty. It didn't leave me with too much to think about and the two main protagonists dominated the story. I've finished watching Everwood Season 1 on DVD. I really enjoyed it. I tried to buy the second series on eBay (pirate copy) but got ripped off. The studio have no plans to produce any other official DVDs. That means I've taken to watching it on ITV, but I assume it's 2 or 3 series on. And Emily Vancamp is breathtakingly beautiful.

  2. Just watched Crash on DVD. The multi-narrative one, not the one where people cop off to car crashes. Don't have time to write a considered or in depth review.I enjoyed it. Some bits felt a little sensational (particularly with the hispanic locksmith and his daughter. Touching but also a little hard to believe). The ending was too long, but tied up the storyline threads.Good film overall.

  3. Come off it... I've heard plenty of people rave about Amelie. And whilst Scarface is overrated, plenty of gangster movies really are just that damn good.

Ok, Amelie was a bad example. You get the point though? Gangster movies have this aura of greatness attached to them that people feel they mustn't question. The Godfather is often named best film of all time. Is it, bollocks! The greatest film of all time should be something that has wide appeal. Something like It's A Wondeful Life. The Godfather is very long, and dark. A lot of people I've spoken to have said they found it boring. However, the critics spunk all over it.I watch loads of films, mainstream and obscure. I'm an educated film-watcher. That said, I enjoyed some critically slated films like American Pie but hated Oscar winners like English Patient.Films go under a process of mythification. In my opinion, a lot of the big gangster movies have profited from such mythification. I'm not saying that people don't like them, but it's easier to big them up than it is for other genres.
  4. I agree about Scarface, Vito. Horribly overrated. I reckon a lot of the gangster movies are overrated. There's been some great romance films, but they will never get the critical acclaim that gangster movies receive because it's cooler to rave about Donnie Brasco than Amelie, for example.

  5. Friday night, I saw Le Battement D'Ailes Du Papillion which, from my A Level French I translate as something to do with a butterfly fluttering its wings, yet the film's English title is either 'Happenstance' or (less accurately, as it was released before) 'Amelie 2'.It stars the adorable Audrey Tautou, who makes me wanna descend into  smiley folly. There are lots of characters with seemingly unconnected lives, yet most of them affect each other in some way. It's based on Chaos Theory/Butterfly Effect/Synchronicity logic. Something apparently insignificant can have huge reverberations.I enjoyed the film a lot. It has the same gallic charm and quirkiness of Amelie but is slightly darker, and has more storyline threads.I was a little bit unsatisfied by the ending as it seems that all the ends aren't tied up (though if you think about they probably are). The resolution offered isn't as positive as in Amelie but maybe some would consider Amelie a little too saccharine. If you enjoyed the quirks of Amelie but found it a little too sugar sweet, Happenstance would be more to your liking. While the resolution isn't great, the numerous plotlines are genuinally engaging. Some of the smaller stories, in particular, offer wonderful comic relief. There are lots of philosophical nuggets to be found but I found them quite pallatable and not too pretentious.I very much recommend Le Battement D'Ailes Du Papillion.Audrey Tautou :love::love::love::love::love::love::love:

  6. This thread is coming along nicely. Well done guys.

Here's two that I don't think are gorgeous by any means, but they have something about them.

Julia Davis (comedienne and actress. Has been in Big Train, I'm Alan Partridge and other things) -

    remains8.jpg

Shawnee Smith (from the Saw films and the very average sitcom Becker) -

  7. He had loads of old girlfriends on Spin City. After Google searching I'm starting to think I might have meant Laurie (aka. Paula Marshall) or maybe I did mean Carla Gugino. All I remember is her wearing a green top in Michael's bedroom. I remember her having longer hair than both Gugino and Marshall so it could indeed be someone else. Oh well, futile search

  8. I've just been watching One Tree Hill for the first time. I'm not crazy about the show but I have discovered this beautiful specimen (Sophia Bush) -

And also on that show there's a really hot blonde in today's episode. Don't think she's a regular cast member as I haven't seen her on IMDB. For anyone who watches the show regularly she's the girl who's now 'family' with Hayley but seems to have a past with Hayley's boyfriend (I probably have got the wrong end of the stick completely)

EDIT - It's Lindsey McKeon. Having Google image searched her she doesn't look as nice as she does on the show. She plays Hayley's sister Taylor.

Good God. This show is teeming with hot girls. This is Maria Menounos.

  9. I posted the thread so I know what I meant. Less commercial or conventional. This means either -Famous women that aren't well known (i.e. most pornstars and surely all pornstars mentioned on this thread) ORFamous women that aren't conventionally beautiful but you find them attractive (like the last woman you posted, nice one!)It doesn't matter what job they do, as long as they are in the public domain (but not too well known). That was the criteria I layed down. Also, I'd definitely dispute the notion that pornstars are all commercial. Not all are blonde with big tits. Some have interesting features, some *gasp* have personality (see Dani Woodward).I don't think people should get so anal (no pun intended) over this, and people especially shouldn't put down others over it (though if Britney Spears or someone of that ilk is posted, you have my blessing :) ).Thanks for a logical argument Famous Mortimer.

  10. And can we stop posting pics of porn actresses? Did you read the topic title or are you too young for such big words?

'Kin hell man! You didn't start the thread. Chill out just a little please. What's wrong with porn star pics (as long as they're not nude/explicit)? Posting Jenna Jameson would be against the point of the thread, but she's really the only mainstream pornstar. The Joe Bloggs type couldn't name too many more pornstars than her.Snide comments like 'are you too young for such big words' really aren't necessary either. I know it wasn't directed at me, and I don't want to start an argument with you, but please ease up on the unpleasantness. What is the point? Unnecessary insults on internet message boards piss me off royally.
  11. Claire Forlani and Shannen Doherty? Come on, this is for discovering women who the average men's magazine wouldn't look at twice, not just two other skinny Hollywood bimbos who are neither unconventional or uncommercial- in fact, they're boringly conventional and totally commercial.

I resent that accusation :) Here's Caroline Dhavernas. I've been watching her recently in Wonderfalls. She's quite pretty but her strongest quality is her facial expressions. She's great at physical comedy. Also she has a killer body, and she's shown it off in a couple of her movies.10-dhavernas-inside.jpgWatch Wonderfalls to get a true impression of how sweet she is. It's a pretty decent show too.
  12. "Ah-mayh-zing".Nah, not really.  I mean, I wouldn't turn down the chance of an indepth probe of the girl, but the thing that really annoys her about me, and the genre in general, is that she's a kids' TV presenter who was actually really good as a kids' TV presenter...before the lads mags started noticing her.  Suddenly, she looks like a right tart (admittedly I'm pretty sure she doesn't do kids telly at all anymore, but it had started before TOTP).  There's loads more examples of it.  Oftentime, people most remark that the reason kids TV is good is because there's loads of jokes for the adults.  I figure this is the same people who read Harry Potter books or something.  Let kids be kids for gawdsakes, and lets have kids TV presenter who actually work for the children.  Even though they've had their moments, that Dick and Dom duo seem to make their show all about the young-uns, and that's why it works.  Adults have porn and animal documentaries to watch for crying out loud.  That Blue Peter bint is another one, the one from Northern Ireland.  I happened upon that show not too many days ago and there she is, resplendent in some cracking little number, a skimpy as all hell white dress.  But, jeez, it's five o'clock in the afternoon.  I really don't know these days.Anyways, sorry about that, lets have more fine looking women.  Including kids' TV presenters if there are many more fitties...

On the money! It's kinda sad how sexualised the media is nowadays. I can't stand those freaking shampoo adverts where the women go 'oooh yes, oooh yes' as if they're in orgasm. I'm as horny (if not more) as any other 21 year old male, but if I want to be turned on I'll watch porn or get with a girl (on the very rare occasions that it happens).I think a lot of children's TV is awful nowadays.British TV is generally the pits. Charmless, sexualised, 'cool' crap like T4, case in point. What ever happened to things like The Storyteller? Where has the soul gone from television? Or am I just trapped in nostalgia?Maybe this is for another thread.More hotties pleaseP.S. Fearne Cotton is kinda attractive, but her voice really irks me for some reason
