  1. Just googled Sidewinder and the Battle Valley looks more like it (it was side on, not from above, if the screengrabs I got were of the right game).

But the screen grab of Sidewinder 2 makes me think I have played that too, but maybe on the Speccy, because i'm sure I played that at my house on something.

  2. Just googled Amiga, and thats it. By PC I kinda meant that it wasn't a console.

And nice one on Battle Valley, i'm 99% sure that's it, images on google say 1989 which would be about the right year. Its not as good graphics as I seem to remember, but I suppose thats the same with most old games (go Bombjack).

Thanks Richie, is there any easy way you know of that i'd be able to play it? Work interweb won't let me look at any game sites, but i'll have a look myself too.

  3. Can anyone help me remember the name of a game please? It was a co-op jobby that me and a mate used to play all the time on his PC (I think, he had James Pond on it for sure, not that it helps).

Basicly, one of us was a helicopter, and one was a tank, on a side scrolling shooter game. Was huge fun in co-op mode, where we would take it in turns to be each vehicle.

Hope I wasn't dreaming it, and if not, that I can find some way to play it now.

    Thanks!

  4.

Tom Hanks being awesome. Why can't he be in more films i actually want to watch

I know it's not a flattering picture, but he looks about 65 there, like an ageing Jimmy Stewart who's still dying his hair.

What was the last decent film he did? Road to Perdition?

Before I got to the caption underneath, I thought it was David Cameron, and was wondering what the fuck it was all about.

  5. Avengers spoiler below:

    Sounds like Marvel have edited

  6. Had a DVD night around my bro and sis-in-laws the weekend, so quick review of the films we saw. Keep in mind that it was a group affair, so none of these are Oscar-worthy efforts, they were more lite entertainment:

Pirates (the Claymation style one), they have 2 kids, so we had to sit and watch one that is suitable for them! - Was OK, but nothing special, not half as many laughs as any of the Wallace and Gromit series, which was a bit disappointing.

The Grey - A bit odd, I think it

  7. Any Deadliest Catch fans on here?

Watched the first 6 seasons, 7 is ready to go tonight.

Awesome series. While the subject matter is fairly repetitive (will they catch anything, how much, and what will mother nature throw at them), it seems to keep me interested. Ice Road Truckers, the base series not the newer ones in South America, after season 4 is becoming more of a chore to watch.

    Must admit:

Captain Phil's death was very, very sad. Not afraid to admit it bought a tear or two to my eyes. I watched season 4 out of order, which was the first time he had medical trouble, and it was an odd feeling knowing what was to come. I guess you become emotionaly involved with the people featured, knowing its real.

Any other shows like these I should be watching? I've tried american pickers, storage wars, and pawn stars, and didn't get into any of them. Swamp Brothers and Swamp People have been OK.

  8. How does the Marvel GN collection work then? You pay a subscription and it sends you parts monthly like a collectors magazine type thing?

Thats it, there is a new book every 2 weeks, so they send you 2 together every month and chage your ccard 19.98.

60 books in total for the series we think. All fit together with an image along the spines.

  9. I don't get this reasoning of changing timeslots leading to a downfall in viewers. Week One, maybe, but are wrestling fans really that thick that they can't remember to tune in at a different time? Are they still WCW fans who tune into TNT on Mondays waiting for Nitro, before being inevitably disappointed week in, week out?

"Oh great, it's 10PM, that means I can tune in and see the last hour of Impa... OH SHIT, NOT AGAIN!"

There is some merrit to it, in the short term. TV viewing is still a bit habitual, so there are people that would have watched the same program at 8pm every week before switching to Impact at 9. When they made the time change, viewres were forced into making a deision (do I watch whatever I'm used to at 8pm, or do I change and watch Impact instead). That decision is based on the quality of what they used to watch vs that of Impact.

Its not going to be as dramatic a change as it might have in the past with DVR useage etc, and most sane people would just record what they watched at 8 and watch it at 10 instead, still being able to go to bed or whatever at 11. I know from experience though that you can stop watching shows when the times get messed about with (once you miss something once, and don't actually miss it, it's easy to move on to something else).

  10. This is why I fear getting into comics as a replacement for Wrestling. So many different arcs, confusing histories, new characters taking on the old heroes costume (like Batman I think). I'm a completest by nature, so it would likely cost me a small fortune too.

I subscribed to The Official Marvel Graphic Novel Collection, as I thought it was a fair place to dabble, and have the first 9 books of the series. Any recommendations from these to start with? Are they considered more 'kid friendly' or do they have a decent adult flavor?

Just looked into this. If I chose to subscribe now, the options start with 'Pack 2', any ideas what i'd receive if I chose that?

Erm, not sure, the website i used didn't mention packs as such. Unless they are talking about them being sent in packs of 2 per month (you can't, for the moment, play catchup by buying a bulk of all volumes so far, due to the big demand at the start). The free gifts are then sent out with each delivery of 2, so you get some gifts with the first delivery, and some with the second.

You do have to be warned that due to the hectic start, there have been delays that has caused some people to get a bit frustrated with the service. Some info is on the thread below, but if you will easily get wound up by the issues that we have had to put up with then you might be best served buying the individual books from other sources. Its been OK for me, i'm not as fussed when I get them, so long as they don't charge me wongly (which they never have) :
