I think Bret v Bulldog at IYH5 is better than SummerSlam 92.
-
The second part sticks in my mind more than the first. Ronnie wallwork was who came to mind!Â

To be fair, it is not that new. Did man utd not previously send players to royal antwerp on loan? Wholeheartedly agree on the benefits though.Â

I was at the SSE Hydro through my work last night. Thought Burnett looked like he was struggling in the first and second round with body shots causing plenty of damage. That said, I probably had him take the third round. However, as soon as he went down you knew it was all over. He struggled in the corner and Donnaire did what was needed. A shame for Burnett. I had a suspicion that Donnaire would win (didn't think it would be in that fashion). Donnaire was lovely afterwards and said all the right things and wished Burnett well.Â
As for Taylor, it was one-sided but a strange stoppage. It also looked a wee bit like a behind the head shot from where I was sitting. Martin was coherent but it was so one-way that it looked like being a matter of time. I think Taylor was probably a little surprised at how straight-forward it was as well. It sounds like the plan is for the semi-final to be back in Glasgow as well so I'll be heading back again.Â

I've been at pretty much all of Josh Taylor's fights through my work and absolutely gutted I am missing him against Postol next weekend because I'm on holiday. Every time someone has said it is a step up, Taylor has done the business but this one really does feel like a step up. Postol is a million miles above guys like Ohara Davies, so, it will be interesting to see how Taylor gets on. If he gets a result, it will really make folk sit up and take notice.

Or Steve McLaren?

He certainly looks the business. I was there for his second fight against Adam Mate and he blew him away. We were wondering how good he was vs the guys he was in there with were not great. I think it is more towards he is good. You can look and say Ryan had not fought in more than a year but by the same token he had held the title before and had only been stopped once in his career.

McGuigan is a lovely guy. I was working at the boxing last night and delighted to see Josh Taylor winning in commanding fashion. Grabbed a quick chat with Carl Frampton as well. A good - if late - night by the time I was finished.

Would jinder mahal not be better suited to using the sleeperhold to promote his peace gimmick? This will be the first and likely last time I post about him...

Hampden is fine acoustic-wise, certainly better than the SECC. Anyway, here is a picture of me and the future mrs in Germany for my brother's wedding.

Abdullah looks like he has come as a police officer, or a stripper to rival Danny De Vito in the episode of Friends.
-
I have little to add, other than the fact that Mr Anderson is horrible. The talk show? The music? Him in general? All awful.
-
The start of Ante Up, where they shout something that sounds like "apple juice" is actually a shout of Amadou in relation to the shooting of Amadou Diallo. I knew it was not apple juice but never had a clue what it actually was.

I've got to the point where I don't mind Wrestle Talk TV but... cannot stand Alex Shane. Every time he appears, I just feel an audible groan coming on. Interviewing Kurt Angle a few weeks ago with a long-rambling intro about how he was with Daniel Bryan when he saw Angle's debut in TNA. Just shameless name dropping.

Just been doing a bit of reading and the semi finals of the World title tournament are now set after this weeks impact (spoilered in case the six people who actually still care don't want to know yet:
Â
Bobby Lashley v ECIII, Matt Hardy v Eric Young.
Â
Â
So, this being TNA and all, what's the odds of ending back directly where we started
Â
I would be stunned if we don't...

The second round is broadcast next week

I don't know how long they have been doing it as I haven;t watched TNA in ages, but you would have thought losing the first round of a tournament would have been s good storyline catalyst for making someone more serious.Â
It would but Robbie is "serious" during the tournament. So, he became serious and still went out in the first round. Perhaps he will become even more serious now...
Â
Fair enough regarding Aries leaving and I would probably take Lashley over Anderson but the finish was still daft.
-
Just on the tournament and the booking... They spend so much time stressing Robbie E is a serious wrestler now. Gone is the party side of things, etc, etc, and then he loses out in the first round to Davey Richards? What was the point in hyping up Robbie E? I'm not saying Robbie should have gone on and won the tournament but I don't see the point in hyping him up to go out in the first round. On top of that, Lashley over Aries? Nah, not for me. The ending of the match was so daft. I think I'm right in saying Aries just needed a draw, why did he not simply get out the ring at the end?
-
I'm heading to Josh Taylor (Commonwealth gold winner) for his second fight on Friday night. Should be a cracker and hopefully see him make it two wins out of two.
-
Not sure if this should go here or the random thoughts but... Who was the first wrestler who started doing the dropkick as a sort of 'drop-sault'? Growing up everyone seemed to throw the dropkick in one way, which was side on as if a baseball slide in the air. Now you have guys doing the 'drop-sault' which I seem to recall AJ Style doing but not sure if he was the first. There are also guys who do a dropkick and land flat on their back so they can do a kip up.
-
The one of the wrestling belt... wow. And not a good 'wow' either.
Â
Edit: As in the one the guy has on his stomach at the bottom of the list.
-
The gloves are a really nice touch from Daniels. He certainly seems to have improved a lot with age.
-
Horrified that I think I know which wind farm that is... He was actually speaking to a mate of mine a couple of days ago. Can only echo the idea that he is a lovely guy.

I watched it s few weeks ago and came to the conclusion (I posted it here somewhere). I think by modern day standards it is, but of the time and the context (Bulldog having a marquee match on home soil) it would have been a different feel.I know it's mentioned a lot but Bret vs Bulldog at Summerslam 1992 really is the shizzle isn't it?
I think Shizzle means good pal. Unless im completely out of touch, which according to my son i am.
Â
Â
I'll be in the minority here but... I prefer Bret v Bulldog from IYH 5.

Myself and my wife were down in Newcastle for the WWE house show a couple of years ago. We were killing some time in the Eldon Centre when we spotted Big E and Becky Lynch in Holland and Barrett. Managed to get a picture with them and Big E complimented my wife on her Walking Deadman t-shirt.
