  1. I must say I was really impressed with Cody outside of the ring. I met him at a Ring Of Honor meet and greet last year while everyone was in the queue for the Young Bucks and rather being the generic 'sign - smile - move on - no questions' ex WWE guy, he actually seemed invested in the fans. He actually asked me a couple of questions, stood up the whole time and when I attempted to take a selfie he said something along the lines of 'hang on, let's get a proper picture' called someone over (as every other person in the venue was in that Bucks queue!) and really put the effort in. Made sure to shake my hand a couple of times before I left while asking another question or two and really left me with a positive impression. Took me by surprise and gained a lot of my respect for sure.

  2. Agree with @BomberPat Omari has WWE all over him and is a huge talent who I predict will win Fight Club Pro Infinity next month. I attend a lot of shows he is on but have not seen him use a microphone yet so I would like to see him get some exposure on that front and getting in the title picture at FCP may allow him to do that as it has Chris Brookes.

Ridgeway is another great talent with a great look. He is exciting and I really like his style. I do wonder if the UK show is scrapped and does not go ahead, how many UK guys they will actually look to sign? From an American audience point of view they may want to group the UK guys as one unit opposed to lots of different UK guys with different gimmicks, I hope that is not the case as I would love to see a good few UK folk get chance to develop their own personality. As huge as UK wrestling is at the moment surely they will want to capitalize on it.

Primate is another who I think may fit the WWE mould so was not surprised to see him in the try outs. I have a lot of love for Eddie Dennis and he certainly fits the height and looks bill, I just hope if they did sign him, they don't go down a 'teacher' gimmick route.

  3. On the subject of fans at hotels/airports. I work opposite where the WWE stay when in Birmingham and normally you can always tell when it is house show day as there are a bunch of 40-50 people outside the hotel from mid day up to show time. Yesterday was a crap day weather wise in Brum but under this particular hotel there is a cover so there were still around 10 fans who I saw milling about for most of the day. When I left work, Seth Rollins had just pulled up in a car heading back in to hotel and these fans were all shouting his name but he ignored them all. On the way home I was thinking about it from both sides, from Seth's point of view he just probably wants 10 minutes of him time before working in the evening and getting in the zone and all that but from those fans perspectives as there were so few of them, would it have hurt for him to even just acknowledge them? Perhaps say 'hello' or 'Sorry guys, I'm needed inside' or even wave to them etc. I honestly don't know and can see it from both sides. I do find it a bit creepy to a degree waiting outside someones hotel but I guess if word gets out and people want a glimpse of their heroes it will naturally happen.

  4. Glad I am not the only one who found it a bit of an uneasy read. It's obviously fantastic that he helped save her but not sure why he did not cover the lady's face in the image and why he had to say 'she was not a small girl' . Seems more worried about getting it out on social media than taking the time to think about someones feelings who is already extremely fragile.

I agree with PunkStep that a good deed does not need to be told to everyone. If others want to praise the person and bring it to others attention then fine but not one for having someone bring adulation on themselves.

  5. Survivor Series was always my favourite event as a kid in the eighties and nineties and over recent years I thought to make it more appealing they could have several traditional survivor series matches with the following format.

Raw Universal Title Contenders vs Smackdown World title contenders

Raw IC Title Contenders vs Smackdown US Title Contenders

Raw Womens Title Contenders vs Smackdown Womens Title Contenders

Anyone who has not been eliminated out of their team is thrown in to a Title shot at the next PPV, so if two members of Team Raw Universal Title are the sole survivors, they would go in to a triple threat match with the Raw champion at the next event. It would give room for storylines to emerge, rivalries formed and at least bring some excitement level and you could also do Cruiserweights and Tag Teams if you wanted to really push it. Due to the fact you could have one survivor on a team too you are not setting yourself up for multi man overload at the next PPV.

To get the title holders involved you could have the following to head the event up

Raw Champions (Universal, Tag champs, IC) vs Smackdown Champions (World, US, Tag)

It probably really is a really random thought but it's just something I always liked the idea of to give the PPV a bit of meaning again.

  6. At the end of the day fair play to both Maria and Mike. A level of job security to start a family and is also building his name to your more casual wrestling fan for when he is back on the indies. Already had a decent rep in ROH and TNA so would no doubt do a good job back out on the road with some added bookings from the companies that like to have a WWE name attached to their poster.

Always seems like a decent fella too so hopefully after a period of toughness he gets back on his feet.

  7. I read that and I must admit WhatCulture is the one 'Indy' promotion that has escaped me mainly due to the reports of the fans at the events so I don't have the best knowledge of them but they seem to be quite popular among the WhatCulture faithful so it is a huge shake up for them.

Am I correct in understanding the rumour going round is these guys will be presenting/involved with the dreaded 5* Wrestling..............?!?!

  8. I think the build on Joe/Brock has been perfect and has got me really excited for the match. It genuinely feels like they want to rip each other apart. So many matches in the multi PPV era lack that impact but they have really done a good job for this one.

Has anyone managed to get NJPW World working on an Amazon fire stick/tablet?

Indeed JN Lister is right. I use it via the TV Cast app from my iPhone and run it on my Fire Stick. You don't even need to install anything on the firestick which actually blows my non technological mind. It is really good and takes no battery up from your iPhone as you can just lock it and watch. I use it for PROGRESS, Rev Pro and NJPW.

  10. I do love the way the WWE can surprise me. I came out of Sundays PPV feeling very underwhelmed and then I watch this week's RAW and everything is great again. What an episode! I thoroughly enjoyed it all. Cass came across much better than I expected as well in the mic skills department.

Like others have said I am not sure how well Enzo will do on his own but maybe we will see him team with Big Show for a bit or maybe he heads down to 205 live? He could have some good mic battles with Neville thats for sure!

  11. Wow, feel very underwhelmed after watching that event. I was actually quite excited about it and thought it had potential throughout the card but it fell flat on all accounts.

The women's MITB match never seemed to get out of first gear and it was entirely predicable about Elsworth getting involved. Someone on some podcast mentioned that would happen the other day and it has been in mind ever since.

Tag team bout was good throughout the match but I am really not a fan of Count out's/DQ's at PPV's. Feels too much like an episode of Smackdown.

Lana was thrown in to the deep end tonight and was caught spot calling throughout but that's not her fault, she could have done with more TV time and actual matches before being thrown straight in to a PPV.

Jinder and Randy was good. I enjoyed this match and the crowd provided plenty of heat for Jinder and with Randy being the home town boy, it had the feeling of a big fight feel which I liked and it added to the match.

Really did not feel the need for Ascension vs Fashion Police on the main card. A quick dull match as much as I like both teams. (No idea where the Ascension go from here though, they are well and truly stuck in a treacle maze).

The main event was good. Some nice spots, mostly involving Sami. I kind of expected Rusev to take Nakamura's place but it did not spoil anything that he did not. A lot of people predicted Corbin as the winner of this match and that prediction proved right. I guess MITB suits having an underdog as its winner as AJ and Owens at least are in the main event picture anyway.

Nothing was excellent on the card I don't think but it was great to finally see Maria and Mike Bennett. I have enjoyed their stuff in both ROH and TNA so I am hoping they get a good push on Smackdown.

Oh yeah, has Tye Dillinger joined American Alpha in Smackdown wilderness?

  12. I am getting more from IMPACT than I am WWE at the moment I have to say. Every week seems a bit different and keeps my interest. I love the Spud stuff and it has totally surprised me how much I am enjoying it.

It will be interesting to see where the company is at in 12 months time, if they can keep a consistent roster of decent talent and Bruce Pritchard on board then I think they will be winning people over in to thinking they are a reputable company worth checking out.

  13. Reading every reply to this thread is giving me goosebumps that everyone felt the same watching this phenomenal event. I am actually looking forward to a re-watch with some friends.

The Billy Gunn match announcement is very random but  I am sure the rest of the card will make up for it. I think Cody vs Okada will be very good. It's Cody's chance to put on an excellent show on the main event stage.

  14. What an excellent event from top to finish. KUSHIDA is fast becoming one of my favourite wrestlers of this generation and I could easily watch Okada and Omega at every event ever.

I love how the crowds remind me of 1980's American crowds in the fact there are no smarky chants, just rooting for their favourite and getting really passionate.

  15. A good episode with lots of interesting characters on the scene at the moment. I agree with the above about Strong's promo. I must say it did make me cringe and will likely be his downfall in trying to get a main roster spot. I loved the 'behind the scenes' stuff with him so hopefully they can work on his in ring promo's, Roode luckily saved him.

That Sanity/Big Damo mix up was something else!

  16. Is it me or is there a distinct lack of WWE releases in 2017? I seem to remember the old 'future endeavors' messages a lot. Simon Gotch seemed to be the only post Wrestlemania and Jack Swagger just before that but that seemed to be more of Swaggers choice and went on for a while. With the NXT roster constantly pushing at the the main roster surely there will need to be some deadwood cut soon?

  17. I really enjoyed this PPV, the last few have been more miss than hit but I got really invested in this one.

I enjoyed Ambrose/Miz a lot more than I thought and even with the hokey ref, I still had no idea where it was going and like others was expecting an appearance from the drifter in the match at some point.

Bayley/Bliss was probably the weakest point and I feel sorry for both of them as they are two amazing talents but I can't help but feel the booking of their feud has been one huge downfall.

The main event was great. Loved the end and I thought any of Joe, Seth, Finn or Bray could have won it any time. I never thought Roman would win as the Brock/Roman match will be saved for next year I think.
