  1.

I bet Dixon had some wrestling turtles in the 90s for All Star.

He did. He had Power Rangers as well. Sold knock off Power Rangers at the table as well, to all the kids. All Star wrestling was a car boot sale first and wrestling promotion second.

Sounds like something Brian Potter would do in Phoenix Nights. They should have had that as one of the episodes, Brian trying to run a wrestling night at the Phoenix, getting in a knock-off Hulk Hogan and all that.

  2. Yeah, their whole net presence is really great, but then I heard Vince and co. don't really have much to do with that side of things and just let them get on with it? Also, it's Joey Styles that does all that stuff and has done for a while now right? Which I suppose is why you see random and obscure articles/references and such crop up from time to time.

  3. I think I'd honestly rather see Shane McMahon vs Undertaker in HIAC at Mania than Cena vs Undertaker, or Undertaker vs anyone else now to be honest.

It's just so left-field and bonkers that it has me hooked, Cena vs Taker or any other option isn't very interesting at all really in comparison.

  4. So WWE are teasing a "major" surprise tonight on Raw. Twitter is already convinced it's going to be Punk.

I've read Goldberg as well. And Angle, but we know that's not happening.

All baseless speculation, so pay little attention of course. But I'll be watching anyway now.

  5. Johnny B. Badd/Marc Mero was quality. Can't think of anyone who gets more flak despite being pretty darn good in the ring and super charismatic to boot. Also, his JBB entrance gimmicks were ace.

I didn't realize he actually cropped up in TNA in like, 2004/2005, with the Johnny B. Badd gimmick, I always assumed WCW and by that point WWE would have owned the rights to it? Because didn't Vince want to bring him in as Johnny B. Badd in the 90's and they couldn't due to the character being owned by WCW, I remember that story from one of Cornette's interviews, think it was the Timeline one.

  6. They'll never let Sting wrestle again. A 57 year old with spinal stenosis would never pass a physical to wrestle a match.

Oh well, going out on a bit of a damp squib if that's the case and that Rollins match was his last. But I guess if he had his last match in TNA that would have been even worse, at least he got the WWE exposure, finally.

  7. I think Bradshaw was one of the main people who took issue with him (surprise surprise). I've heard a few stories that they used to padlock his bags up in the rafters every night and make him get changed in his car. I think the Hardys also told a story in their book or a shoot interview that as one of their initiations they had to break toothpicks in the locks of Callis' rental car.

  8. I know he came up through the indies with Ambrose and was good mates with him so that's probably why he ended up around longer than you'd expect. But yeah, nothing he did in NXT was very good to be honest. I guess both sides are to blame in that the WWE never gave him a decent chance and he didn't give them much to take note of really.

  9. Yeah, it's intriguing as he had a cool look that was custom made for wrestling (the long hair, tinted glasses, jewel on the forehead etc), he could talk the talk and he was even a fairly decent wrestler so its crazy that he never became far bigger than he did. I've just started re-watching ECW on TNN to see his full run there and will watch the PPVs along the way. I suppose he's better off nowadays though as he works for the Canadian government from what I've read.

I agree on James Mitchell as well. All of the above applies to him too re. Having a look custom made for wrestling and so on.

  10. Just been watching ECW Hardcore Heaven '99 tonight which I think was one of the first (Or the first? Can anyone confirm when he first appeared in ECW? There seem to be a few contradicting timeframes) events that Cyrus appeared on and its quite amusing listening to him constantly cracking in-jokes about 'Having heat in the back' and how he 'Knows a lot about that' with Joey Styles laughing along and agreeing. I didn't realise he (Cyrus) had a ton of backstage heat when he was in the WWF until recently, nobody liked him apparently, for being too introverted.

  11. I'm in two minds whether to get a VIP premium seating ticket (as these are now the only VIP tickets left it seems) or go for a standing ticket. I'll more than likely be going on my own so in that regard having a seat is better if I want to get a drink/toilet break etc. I can just return to my seat and not lose my spot in the crowd. But then it looks like part of the fun/experience of ICW is being in that huge standing crowd (I've never been to an ICW event before).

  12. Stinger's done it twice too, remember when he briefly appropriated the Heath Ledger Joker gimmick? He was fun then, and to think, all he had to do was wait 20 years for another face painted movie character to come along that he could copy.

I really don't mind it, in fact I wish more wrestlers were based on characters from movies and stuff. Simon Dean playing Ben Stiller in Dodgeball was great. Not everyone can come up with a complex character like Bray Wyatt, I don't see what's wrong with borrowing looks or character traits from pop culture as long as it works and it's not just a full cheap rip off.

Even Bray Wyatt is effectively Max Cady from Cape Fear to some degree, the same way Waylon Mercy copied that character and Spivey helped Bray create the character apparently.

  13. Ambrose is alright but yeah, he could be so much better, the feud with Rollins was great and then they just seemed to cut the legs out from under him after the HIAC match. Just been going back through some of the stuff he did in FCW with William Regal, that was superb. Not to mention back in the indie Moxley days.
