Is it? Why does every show feature so much in-ring action then?
Because it has to, he couldn't just get rid and have them all sat in the Rovers could he, as much as he'd like to.

I think the issue these days is that McMahon considers it an 'entertainment' company and not a 'wrestling' company anymore (although I know he's always tried to evade being a 'wrestling' company). It used to be that the story lines all tied into the matches as the main focus, so there was reason to invest in the story lines culminating in the wrestling matches you want to see, the heel get his comeuppance or the face get the big title win.
Nowadays, I think if Vince could bin off the actual matches and just be writing Coronation Street episodes instead, that's what he wants. He's just writing shitty reality/soap story lines that happen to need wrestling matches in there somewhere, but they are of no consequence and don't matter, so the matches can be ten stars, but what does it matter if those are just getting in the way and are just a means to an end.
The problem is, the story lines are shite and due to this, the fact that we don't care about the matches as they basically don't matter at all as we're not invested, means that as a whole, it's just a stagnant mess of a company and has been for a long time.

Aside from the huge guaranteed money contract given to Marc Mero, McMahon offered the Ultimate Warrior a 5 year contract, $750,000 downside, with a better merchandise percentage than everyone else in the company, in December 1997. Barely more than a month after Survivor Series '97.
The money was there for the people Vince felt warranted it.Â
It's mad to think what the WWF would have looked like in 1998 onwards if Warrior was there, same goes for the rumours about Macho Man heading back in 1997 or so (that could have been a load of made up bollocks I read though).

Changes they were considering, at one point.Â
What change were considered? I know they were up shit creek for a bit there in the mid 90's, not sure I've heard about this though.
-
Brian Pillman was the first guaranteed contract under the WWF, wasn't he? So that would have been around the time Hall, Nash etc. left for WCW.

It's brilliant, I've even got my girlfriend into the 'little bit of the bubbly' memes and she couldn't give two shits about wrestling. Jericho should just become full-on Oliver Reed circa The Word, he's already halfway there.
-
I can't stop watching that Jericho 'Ooo, a little bit of the bubbleeh' clip. Quality.
It's like he's trying to do a fake British accent but that's what makes it.

Clive Warren and Rebecca De Mornay, on the other hand...
That'll put butts in seats.

These companies do need stars, it's the same concept as Hollywood blockbusters using famous actors who people recognize and like, people wouldn't go watching if Rick O'Shea and Clive Warren were in it.

Who gives a fuck? Seriously?
I think whether it would have been better to have a picture like that awesome WWE one with Moxley, Luchasaurus, Allin, Pentagon, etc is interesting debate. Tony Khan's trousers? Have a day off.
It was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, I couldn't care less about his attire.

The fucking state of Khan's trousers. Was his maid off that day? It's got more wrinkles than Gordon Ramsey's forehead.
Too much trouble for him to wear a pair of smart shoes as well by the looks of it.

I'm trying to watch this on FiteTV on my Fire Stick but the stream keeps lagging or pausing for a millisecond all the time and it's really quite annoying. Any idea how to solve this?
-
I think so, in the sense that both Bischoff and Heyman are in those roles now, but I doubt we'll see any significant changes at this early point.

I just signed up with the code, you'll be a dollar short but you can fix that by following the FiteTV twitter through the app which gets you another $2.
I did the same, used the code and followed the Twitter account which gave me enough to buy the PPV, cheers AP!
-
If you look on the FITE website the Fyter Fest page has ITV and ITV Box Office logos on it. So it looks like it's a partnership between them both for this PPV.

Taking that into account, when did Bad Ass Billy Gunn become Mr. Ass? And why?

Doesn't he say 'Make some noise'?

That one was at an SCI tournament, 2017 edition I believe. That should still be up on the IWTV streaming service.
They had a match at EVOLVE too and one for MLW. Their most recent one was for PWG's last show, which is available to buy now. The preview for that insanity starts at 3:05;

Thank you! Gonna have a look at those this evening. He sounds like a proper mad bastard!

Have you ever seen a Darby vs Janela match? They're insane spectacles. There was one a few years back where Joey cuffed Darby's hands behind his back, so he started doing spots with no arms. It was cute for a while, then got scary when he did a topé con hilo. Really really scary stuff. I hope they get the opportunity to go All Out at...uhhh...All Out.
Where can I see those matches? They sound crazy, need to have a look at some Darby Allin stuff, not seen him wrestle at all.

Looking forward to seeing Allin. Seen him advertised as Cody's opponent but genuinely never seen him before. In fact, I thought it was some one-off gimmick given the name appeared to be a pun! He's got a good look and talked well. Sold me on the match already.
It's a play on Darby Crash from The Germs and GG Allin, two punk vocalists. He does look pretty intriguing though and I'm looking forward to seeing him in action, maybe moreso because I like the two artists who serve as his namesake.
I'm a big fan of Janela, though that recent match with a 15 year old girl soured me on him a bit as that shouldn't have even been a thing in the first place. But I'm looking forward to seeing him and Moxley, bit of a dream match in death match circles I suppose. There's a short documentary about him on YouTube which is really interesting and worth a look as well, called 'Please Don't Die'.
-
The whole 'Deadman' character is stale as nowadays as well, I just fast forward his entrances as they're shite. Been doing that for the last ten years to be fair. If he's still going insist on wrestling then he should just go back to the biker gimmick and use a general brawling style, though he probably couldn't even manage that.
Â
Nah, just hang up the boots actually, no need to see Undertaker in a ring anymore.
-
Enjoyed that Moxley match, great brawl and a nice taster to what's coming up I guess.
The trunks do look a bit strange though, after him wearing jeans and a vest for so long, looks a bit like Batista donated his 2014 gear to Mox after he retired.

He's even gone and got his first NJPW shirt:

They went down to Chasers after the show, just the eight pints for Seth last night, then.
