  1. The Wonder Years are my favourite band right now. Every album has gotten better and live shows are incredible. They're supporting Enter Shikari in February, going to a few dates.

If you like them, you should listen to Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties. It's the lead singers from TWY doing a character study album about a guy going though a divorce. It's a bit more folky then TWY, but I love it.

  2. Favourite Breville recipe is spaghetti hoops, cheese and ham.

I've battered a scotch egg before. Egg, meat, bread crumbs, batter. If I get the consistency right, the next step is injecting it with melted cheese. Right now, I keep clogging up the syringe.

  3. If WWE is the only thing that you watch on Sky Sports then it's not worth having at all. At the end of the day like SpursRiot mentioned if you're not going to stay up until 4am to watch it live and just Sky + it then you might as well just download it in the morning. Let's be honest all of those adverts put you off watching Raw live anyway.

What if you're a kid and you're not interested in how much it costs, it's worth having then.  Surely that's a lot of the viewers.

  4. Yes, they should feel aggrieved.

No, they shouldn't get refunds. They got what they paid for.

If you agree that people should feel aggrieved, how can you not agree they deserve refunds?  A load of people buy the PPV to watch after school or work on the Monday, so it's not all about watching live. Sky are probably within their right to tell people to fuck off, I can't find anything that mentions box office exclusivity periods, But why would they? They want to keep these customers happy.

  5. I cannot begin to describe my hatred for "Surprise, Surprise". Seriously a depressing a moment having that on the TV while waiting for my Mum to overcook a Goodfellas pizza.

Now prestened by Holly Willoughby! The plot thickens.

  6. I think the main difference between Dapper Laughs and Lemon and acts like that is that they are obviously fake characters who nobody would aspire to be like but Dapper really doesn't pull that off, especially when you take in to consideration the intellectual level of his demographic. It's a poor attempt at satire where most of his audience probably don't know what a satire is.

I don't think the debates about character even matter, some of the things like "how do you remove a girls bra, grab a knife" are nothing to do with lad culture, that's your run of the mill shock joke he probably would have done as himself anyway. ITV2 should have been the ones having the conversation we are having about the potential influence  Dapper/Dan might have on fuckwits. They may of had that conversation and decided it didn't matter, or it wasn't his/there responsabilty to care about it (they obviosuly didn't have that conversation).

Edit- It may interest some that before my episode aired they made me delete a a few tweets that were over a year old. They were about Mother Teresa. I had just finished reading The Missionary Position. So they do there homework.

Then now we're getting in to what is acceptable comedy.

And this is just double standards.  It's alright for Jo Brand et al to stand on stage and say how useless men are, how terrible we are in bed etc but if a relatively unknown says anything to the detriment of women then it's morally abhorrent?

So to be clear, you're making a parallel between saying men are useless to advocating/encouraging rape?

I don't think his Jo Brand comparrison works, but just to play devils advocate she also said her favourite kind of man, was a dead one.

  7. I think the big difference here is that Keith Lemon is a character that has had exposure on other shows before he got Celebrity Juice, and he's in an environment where the other panelists (particularly Fearne and Holly) are in on the joke too. He also, though often grotesque, never comes across as anything more than a cheeky character.

Dapper Laughs was a bloke doing much worse with much less self awareness and nobody was in on the joke with him. Then he shit his pants and pretended it was a character when he got bollocked for it.

This isn't in defence of the influence he had argument, but in a lot of his vines the people he is "harrasing" are in on it. I went to the launch of the show and met classic characters such as "can i smell your fanny" girl, and  "boy with a girls haircut" man. It's usually his friends or fans. I was there when he recorded one of his Vines and it took him about 4 hours with 100 takes, he was actually working off a story board. I don't think it was a moral dilema that stopped him using oblivious memebers of the public, just the issue that he wouldn't look right or the reaction he got wouldn't have been what he wanted.

In terms of influence, a lot of scrum bags supporting Dapper have been threatening to smash girls back dorrs in and referring to women as clunge. Keith Lemon has a huge influence of idiots.

  8. I think a "pulling" show was just the natural fit for the type of character he is. I've linked to my episode below in case anyone is interested (probably not). I honestly don't see anything sinister in the show, I am open to be educated by anyone that does. It's nothing like Julien Blanc's stuff witch is genuinely sinister. I do come across as you may expect a social awkward 28 year old wrestling fan to.

Before "Dapper" he was a estate agent from Clapham, so even even without the creation of the character a lot of people would think he was a cunt anyway.

  9. He obviously doesn't take criticism very well, and responding and venting to critics via the Dapper Laughs profile was clearly a bad idea. It was his response to the slating of his Christmas album that started the snowball off.  His response to that was clearly not in character.  His originally response to articles written about him, such as the one that started this thread off was "jokes on them, I can't read".  That would have been perfect for the Dapper Laughs character.
