  1. Anyone watching In The Flesh?

I watched the first episode and thought it was alright, even though there was very little to it and nothing really stood out. Missed the 2nd episode on Sunday, but will probably give it a watch over the next couple of days.

I'm interested in seeing where it goes.

Is it not only on for thee episodes, so it finishes next week?

  2. Set those DVRs... Studio Ghibli season~!

    http://www.film4.com/whats-on/studio-ghibli-2013

I have every one of the films on DVD, but have only ever watched Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke. After hearing good things about the films I really need to free up some time to watch them all.

On the topic of TV, I have just watched the latest Walking Dead. Another good episode with a good mixture of action and some character/story development. I am very interested in what direction they are going to go in with the finale of the 3rd series next week (whether they will kill anyone else off) and then what they will be doing in the 4th series.

  3. A new alter ego for Tajiri:

I always liked Tajiri (especially his stuff with Regal) and another little run in WWE would be nice to see. He wouldn't go any higher than the mid-card, but some matches with the likes of Bryan, Ziggler, Cesaro and Kingston, and even someone like Miz or Sin Cara would be good. More importantly they would be fresh match-ups as well.

  4. I've been listening to the Joe Rogan podcast with Dana White and just had this show spoiled. I somehow didn't even think of the possibility of hearing Bellator spoilers on the Rogan podcast :(

Well fuck me. We all counted Newton out and we look like a right bunch of know nothing twats. Mo got fucking laid out bad with a spinning back fist of all things. I haven't seen the whole fight yet but I've seen the KO. I don't know if Mo's just got overconfident with all his recent striking training or what, but he's better than this surely. Shocker. Not as shocking as Bigfoot KOing Reem but it's a solid second.

The Bellator 205 tournament is wide open now.

I think Mo losing to Newton is much more shocking than Bigfoot KOing Overeem. I would say that more people would have given Silva a chance against Overeem than would have given Newton a chance against Mo.

Both Mo and Overeem were too sure of themselves though and both deserved to lose.

  5. I just think it's brilliant that the Die Hard franchise has evolved into one big ITV Edit.

    "Yippee kay-yay kemosabe."

    That broke my heart.

You should see the Big Lebowski TV Edit.

'Do you see what happens when you find a stranger in the Alps, Larry'.

I can't find a video of the Die Hard edit (if anyone can then please post a link to it), but here is a video of a few other TV edits (including the Big Lebowski one).

  6. On the subject of the King of the Ring and tournament-style matches...

In a TV ad for Wednesday's Ion show, WWE showed Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Damien Sandow, The Miz, Antonio Cesaro, Darren Young and Randy Orton as the eight participants in the first ever Intercontinental Cup tournament for a shot at Wade Barrett's I-C title.

Not sure where that leaves Bo Dallas. A short feud with Barrett until the tournament concludes?

  7. Money in the Bank used to be a nice way of cramming a bunch of people on to the Wrestlemania Card that otherwise would have had nothing to do, but since that has evolved into a concept of its own they could do with something to replace it.

There was a rumour going around a month or so ago that there would be a MITB match at 'Mania this year and WWE were going to have Ryback win it. Things have probably changed a number of times since then though.

  8. Dredd finally finds it's audience

I felt bad about not seeing Dredd at the cinema, despite really wanting to I didn't find the time in it's short run. I read after that as Dredd had flopped it seriously damaged the chances of other low (comparatively) budget gritty 18 certificate movies being made. It was important for this film to make more money on home video and it has, It was sold out in the 2 places I tried to get it on dvd on opening day (but they were HMV and Blockbuster) and more importantly It's sold 650,000 copies on DVD and bluray in it's first week and is the biggest new release and most digitally downloaded movie of the year so far (but it is only January).

Cool news anyway, hope they keep making 80s style violent sci fi and comic films now.

I was able to see Dredd 3D at the cinema, thought it was really good. I was thinking about seeing it a second time at the cinema but didn't have the time. I haven't bought Dredd 3D on DVD yet but I will. Glad it's getting out to people and doing well like it deserves.

The DVD is the 2D version and has no extras on it. I think the BluRay is 3D though with some extras.

  9. Please not Shelton Benjamin, he's so fucking boring. Does anyone want to see him back? Even ROH fans thought he was boring, that's how boring he is.

Doesn't some Jap promotion Zero 7 or Hustler or someone want him?

I think if Haas came back with him as the WGTT and WWE gave them a manager to do their promos, then they would be a fine addition to the tag division (if they took it serious and didn't have them losing to Khali a couple of months into their return) and to the mid-card. While I agree he can be pretty boring, he was a very capable wrestler (I have not seen him in ROH, is he any better/worse then when he left WWE?).

  10. I'm up to date with Chew and I really enjoy it.. One of the only things I'm regularly following (hence the need for new shit!). As Carbomb says though, it is silly so if you're looking for something ultra-serious don't bother. But I've found it funny and well-written and they've created a real cool little world that it's set in.

The other thing is Walking Dead.. Which I've been reading out of habit and I've not thought was too great, but I thought Book 16 was a bit of a return to form and the best one for ages.

I finished reading up to the latest issue of Chew a couple of weeks ago and found it to be a lot of fun. Also found out I have a first edition printing of the 1st issue worth about

  11. Just watched this weeks The Walking Dead (Episode 4). Wow, just wow. Things have changed a little quicker than I expected and Season 3 continues to be great.

The last 10-minutes or so, even if you do not like the Lori character (which I know a lot of people don't), were great with perfect acting and emotion from Andrew Lincoln and Chandler Riggs. I still get a feeling that Lori might survive, but overall a very effective episode. Sad to see T-Dog die as well.

  12. Watched Scary or Die last night http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1833879/

Scary or Die was a very entertaining way to pass 90 minutes. Especially with All Hallows Eve approaching, this might be a good one to check out for horror fans. The fact that this is 5 mini-films keep things moving quickly and the film is effective in delivering a variety of moods and emotions ranging from "Fuck yeah! This is cool!" to a couple of moments which are rather more subdued and sentimental. I'll give this an 8 or a 9.

Just watched Scary or Die myself and found it to be an awful horror anthology around the same low-level as Creepshow 3. With Zombies, Vampires, Satanic Cults, Evil Clowns and Supernatural Revenge you would expect at least something interesting or entertaining to come from the film, but in fact it ends up being mostly tedious and boring viewing. Certainly one to give a miss.

  13. Skyfall

Up with the best of the Bond films. Daniel Craig is very good as Bond, Judi Dench is as good as ever (if not better than before) as M, Javier Bardem is great as the bad guy and the supporting cast are all good in their roles as well. It has great action, good humour and a basic but perfectly fine plot and ends up being a very entertaining movie in the end. It might be too long for some (140-odd minutes) and there might be complaints of too much talking and not enough action, but (with a feeling of a mixture of Bourne and Dark Knight at times) I really enjoyed it and hope we see another Bond movie made very soon (the end of 2014 is apparently the current estimate).

  14. I hardly watch WWE and haven't done so regularly since HBK retired, but since when did 'Hell in a Cell' become 'Hell in THE Cell' as McMahon insisted on calling it all through Raw.

I was thinking the same thing, but it is called Hell in a Cell on all the adverts and promos for the PPV.
