  1. He was in the 6 Pack Challenge at whatever event it was (Unforgiven?) too for the Vacant title replacing Undertaker that had Austin as ref.

Didnt Davey also get a shot after Unforgiven? I remember the whole siding with Triple H was so Hunter would give him a championship match in the future. I know Bulldog wrestled Triple H on a episode of Smackdown before No Mercy when Rocky was the guest ref where Rock laid both guys out and walked out with the title. Was this a championship match?

  2. I was watching the Best of Nitro Vol 2 this morning and they showed a brief clip of two stings attacking Hogan & Bisch who then unmask to be DDP and Piper. Then the NWO comes out along with sting for a huge brawl and cage lowers during the fight.

Looked really good but they didnt put a date on at all. I dont remember this brawl at all during the UK airing of Nitro so must of been cut if anyone knows what show this took place on.

  3. Ok so Ive decided to continue my marathon of wrestling so I have finished 2000 so felt thanks to some people on here to go back and watch the years of 1995 - 1997 where the early seeds of Attitude started. Are there any other shows worth watching next to Raw from this time period?

With 2000 you had Smackdown to accompany Raw where storylines continuing but what about 1995 onwards? I can only really think of Superstars but that had ended by 1996 I think. Shotgun Saturday Night I guess you could use for 1997 I think but maybe someone here has a better memory.

What was the longest wrestling match in WWE/WCW ever filmed? I recall on a episode of All American Wrestling Gorilla Monsoon claimed he wrestled a 2 hour match which got me thinking if anything else came close. I know the Iron man matches go one hour but Im pretty sure Flair & Steamboat did a 90 minute match on TV possibly PPV but not sure.

  4. Who were the two fans who appeared on every televised WWF show in the 1990s? I recall them appearing on many Raw's & PPVs back then and wondered if anyone remembers them. One was hugging Shawn Michaels after his Rumble 1996 victory and when HBK won the belt at Mania. I always got the impression they had WWE connections with the wrestlers.

Don't really know who you're on about, unless its "girl with glitter hearts on her face" and her mate, but I was pleased to hear that pink-shellsuit-man who was always front row for any WWF show in the 90s from the Cleveland area (usually with his wife yellow-shellsuit-woman in tow) made an appearance on Raw from Columbus on Monday, still as orange-skinned as ever. Although I'm told he's finally upgraded to a hoodie.

Probably should of provided a pic.

These two. Shawn is talking to one with the Austin shirt and the other guy with glasses and dark skin looks like his mate as they always appeared together on all the PPVs.

Did WWE have any plans in 1991 with Brutus Beefcake? There was a show around Feb time I remember when he played a character called The Mariner or Mystery man and gave Rick Martel a right hammering and then on several occasions beat up Earthquake on TV. I expected him to show up at Mania when the Quake went to go for a second Splash on Valentine but he mysteriously wasent mentioned again.

Are there any decent wrestling information books about? I saw in WHSmiths a WWE Championship book but wondered if there are any decent wrestling books that detail history.

Last question Im currently around late October 2000 on my Wrestling marathon of Attitude era shows and wondered what I swhould do when the year is over. Delve into 2001 or go up to mania or try the early attitude era seeds from 1996 or 1995.

  6. Oh and due to needing a piss and then getting an ice cream, I completely missed Virgil getting squashed by Adam Bomb.

My mate had a similar, but slightly worse, issue when we went to Insurrextion. He sods off to the bogs at which point Bulldog's theme hits and he charges the ring. Mate returns just in time for Bulldog's music to finish after he's gone back up the aisle after beating Crash Holly for the Hardcore Title.

I heard a rumour about this event and wondered if it was true. Back when they did the main event where Rock defended the WWF Title against Shane Mcmahon & Triple H and after the show went off the air I gather Vince McMahon was still lying in the ring. A fan reported that after the broadcast Earlo Hebner gave Vince McMahon a Rock Bottom & People's Elbow which seeing him do sounded pretty cool.

    Did this actually happen?

  7. Rewatching two PPVs today the first being Summerslam 1988 & the other UK Rampage 1993 a few questions sprang to mind.

    1. Why did the UK get poor matches when compared to other foreign shows on the tour?

For instance we had Perfect wrestle one of the headshrinkers and Duggan wrestle Luger. As this was supposed to be all about Wrestlemania fallout im suprised they never did Steiners/Money Inc or even give us Yoko/Duggan & Luger/Perfect (Mania Rematch).

    2. Watching Summerslam and its very rare to see a card then I wasent happy with but who put that card together? To me I felt the card just plain sucked as it was missing a few important matches. One was Jake/Rude that should of been on the show.

Im not sure where everyone stands on this show but I would of preferred a Wrestlemania Rematch for the WWF title between Savage & Ted be it a singles match or just end the feud in a Cage match. Hogan & Andre in a singles match for their 4 and final encounter as they both had won a piece from Mania 3 & The Main Event plus the double DQ at mania 4.

Was there beef with Beefcake? He was booked to face Honky yet they came up with a injury angle so guessing there was a reason to write him off the PPV. Was it really true they tried to book Ric Flair to come to this show and face Savage?

Alot of matches at this show didnt really make sense but then I guess its like why Tito & Greg didnt battle for the IC strap at the first mania.

  8. Does anybody know anything about those obscure foreign Rampages the WWF put out in the early 90s?

I know they did one in Barcelona Spain in 1991, one in Germany in April 1992 and a Italian one in April 1993 or was it a french one that month?

I remember years ago reading a website that had info on all of them but as the language wasent English it was hard to work out the reports. Not a clue what site it was now.

Did they televise many in their regions?

  9. Were their any plans for this match to ever happen on TV?

Seems really odd how back in late 1991 WWE would book a heel vs heel match between The Mountie & Dino Bravo.

Speaking about this time frame apart from the WWE footage of Mountie winning the IC strap did anybody else release footage of this event? Only reason I ask is they had a Hogan/Roberts match on the card.

Come to think of it where did the Providence footage in 1986 come from between Hogan & Jake? I dont recall seeing it on any of the Superstars or Challenge sets. I heard they did a Snake Pit interview where Jake DDT'ed Hogan but not sure if footage actually exists of this.

  10. Was Steve Austin ever mentioned about headlining the PPV Judgment Day 2000? You could tell his neck was bothering him after he struck Vince and WWE never really mentioned him after that until he eventually returned.

Regarding the WWE PPVs on DVD why are the covers so spoilery? Two examples was Cena holding the Briefcase on the 2012 MITB one & The rock holding the WWE Title on the Royal Rumble 2013 one. Surely if fans are buying the DVDs they dont want to know who wins the big match as that kinda ruins the atmosphere especially for the casual fan who doesnt watch WWE on a regular basis.

  11. Regarding Wrestlemania 2000 was there any plan on Mick Foley actually winning the WWF Belt on the show and then having a tournament leading up to Backlash to crown a new champion?

I know they wanted to solidify Hunter as a big deal but just seems odd that he beat Foley on the two PPVs before and they never really followed up with it. Or was the original plan for Rock to take the title until Hunter lobbied to have a heel go over at the Main Event?

Who came up with the idea of Hogan taking the strap off Yokozuna? Heard different reports about how Vince came up with it or Hogan wanting a Wrestlemania win seeing as they didnt win the tag belts. For me alot of fans unecessarilly give Hogan alot of unfair criticism over the win seeing as it was to send the fans home happy.

In regards to Hulk Hogan why didn't Vince keep the Hogan/Flair match off the house shows and have their first ever meeting at a major PPV?

  12. Two quick questions.

    1. I was browsing youtube a few weeks ago and I remember seeing a Hogan/Giant match with a WWE logo on the bottom left corner so its something that got put on one of the DVDs/Blu-Rays. The match was from Nitro and didnt contain any commentary after a couple of minutes so im guessing its that match where only 2 mins got shown before they went off the air but I just have no idea which WWE DVD this match was shown on. Might of been the best of Nitro or the NWO one but ive no idea if someone can help as cant find the original youtube vid now.

    2. Exactly how much footage exists of ECW Cyberslam 2000? I gather RF never released the event for some reason even though it has historic value due to containing the Taz/Dreamer and Dreamer/Credible title changes which WWE eventually released as part of their ECW Unreleased Vol 1. Why did this event never get released in full? Did any other matches get aired as part of ECW TV?

  13. Was The Rock always pencilled in to win the Royal Rumble 2000 match? Has anyone spoken to what the original plans were had Steve Austin not required neck surgery up to Wrestlemania?

I was always under the impression they were going to do Rock/Austin again with Austin turning heel on Rock but cause of the injury they held it off for a year.

Since late last year ive been doing a wrestling marathon where I watch all the Raws, Smackdowns & PPVs in order. Now I started watching from Jan 1998 and tried to watch one or two shows on a Monday, Wednesday & Sunday evening and now im coming to a close on 1999. All of 1998 I absolutely loved same for most of 1999, however after Summerslam 1999 I became slightly less interested with the product and most of November & December has at times been pretty lousy. I never realised this at the time but have done now. Today I watch the christmas edition of Raw and to be honest I was really bored of it and it felt like a chore to watch it.

Would you suggest I carry on watching into 2000 or watch another year? I know we had some great moments like the hardcore 24/7 rule and Rock leading on to his road to Wrestlemania, Steve Austin returning and Tazz among others or should I move onto 1997? Im in two minds whether to jump back to 1997 and relive the Austin/Bret feud right from the start but then I would probably have to watch from October 1996 time but being in the middle of HBK's Title run maybe I should just start from 1996.

    What would you suggest?

  14. This might sound a bit of a strange question as its to do will merchandise in general. Over the years ive been buying DVDs from different traders of these promotions WWE, ECW, Georgia, Mid-Atlantic, Mid-South/UWF, WCW, AWA, Florida, Central States, Continental, Memphis, Portland, Pro Wrest USA, St Louis, SMW, SouthWest, Stampede, WCCW, Pro Wrestling This Week, TNA, NJPW, AJPW, Shoots, ROH, AAA, CMLL.

Are there any other promotions worth trying to get hold of?

    global/fmw

 Sounds like a really impressive collection. Well, apart from TNA and ROH. ;)

I'll second those and say from Japan SWS, WAR, UWFi and MPW would be the obvious ones. Such a fun cast of characters, foreign and native, hanging around Japan in the 90s.

I'm relatively clueless on current Japan, but I would recommend early to mid 2000s NOAH since you like AJPW. Wasn't a big fan of what I saw from the first year or so but after that it got really good for a few years at least in terms of the big matches.

In terms of older lucha what I've seen of UWA is really impressive so that might be worth checking out. Someone else will know how much footage is/isn't available.

I'm guessing you aren't a Joshi fan based on the above, what about British wrestling? From the UK World of Sport and Reslo had plenty of great matches.

And now a question of my own: what is Central States like? Always ignored it because it sounded pretty poor but I may be misjudging it. Anything worth checking out?

[Haven't actually seen much Portland or Stampede either (despite their probably been more footage of those two than a lot of others) but that's more because I haven't gotten round to them yet than anything bad. I will do eventually though: I'm always seeing 'new' old stuff. Actually only got into SouthWest within the last year and I have seen has been great]

A Joshi fan? Wasent sure what you meant at first Japanese women. Oh yeah absolutely love anything with those gals in, Got a few AJW and GAEA was it that aired on the wrestling channel? What got me interested was 1995 Survivor Series Madusa & Kong's team of these amazing women and when I heard about the Blayze/Nakano title change at the Egg Dome I so wanted to see it. Took me about 15 years before I got to see the event and was hooked. Ive no idea if there are any other promotions in japan so maybe someone else could answer that.

Yeah I had been recording the stuff Movies For Men had aired from the Big Daddy era. Wish there was more about as loved it from the ITV days. Ill be honest here. The only reason I got in Central States was because one of the traders had it listed under a Ric Flair vs Bruiser Brody match so cant really judge on the promotion yet until ive looked into it properly. Im still cataloging what I got in last year so when I got everything sorted then I can see what its like.

In regards to Lucha & Japan stuff Ive not seen too much about on peoples lists. I got the 80s AJPW & NJPW, the early 90s NJPW thanks to McGinty but I think they are classic shows, NOAH from TWC. Lucha well AAA/CMLL from the late 2000s but really need to get my hands on some of the early days when Rey Mysterio & Eddie Guerrero were there. I know Galavision in the UK used to air it back in 1994 but ive no idea what time period they did.

Regarding the whole Stone Cold run over angle they did, what was the original plans for Survivor Series 1999? Was Steve Austin supposed to take the belt then or would he have won the Rumble and taken the belt off Hunter at Wrestlemania in a singles match?

  16. Are the Godwinns Part 2 or Outlaws part 2 worth getting?

Seen the trailers and seem ok but wondered whos seen them.

Any new ones worth getting? Watched Cornette's last night and really enjoyed it. He gives a nice shout out to the traders that share his SMW promotion to everyone encouraging more to do it so I guess hes seen a copy of it.

Kinda wondered why he even sold it to WWE in the first place and not a company to distribute it instead.

  17. What are the chances of WWE releasing a Gorilla Monsoon DVD? Personally I think its long overdue and he was one of the best commentators on the mic. While I never saw him wrestle back in the day apart from a few selected matches I believe he was a well respected guy in the locker room for over 20 plus years. Still it would give WWE a chance to finally include his 1995 Hall of Fame induction which I believe they recorded as I remember seeing highlights on the 1995 King of the Ring PPV.

  18. One thing Ive always wondered is about Test. Looking back at his career when Stone Cold got written out of the storylines why did Test never get booked in the Survivor Series to win the WWE Championship? He was obviously the most over choice how storylines had gone to feud with the game yet they gave Big Show the belt. Nothing against Show but Test was the better wrestler and very over and with Austin gone they could of easily pushed the guy into a Championship match at Wrestlemania if they wanted but just stuck him in a European title match at mania instead.

Why do fans always label Steve Blackman as boring and not a good wrestler? Been working through the attitude era lately and didnt think he was that bad in the ring as he had some entertaining matched with Ken Shamrock and others. From memory his match with Shane at Summerslam was pretty good.

Final question whats this X-Pac heat all about? Personally I loved the guy thought he was awesome in the ring ever since his Lightning Kid days and could always crack a pretty entertaining promo. Dunno why people label a guy X-Pac heat if the guy sucks as really they should call it A-Train heat if thats what it means. Maybe someone could clear it up.

  19. I recently aquired a bunch of ROH shows from The Wrestling Channel caps and was wondering if there is anyway of finding out dates for the shows. Ive tried google about this but some people have said for some reason TWC didnt air them in any sort of proper chronogical order saying dates were random what they decided to air.

  20. Speaking about that overreacted Kid I remember several years ago there was a video of a kid crying his eyes out getting emotionally upset saying "Its still real to me dammit". I think Jim Cornette & Dennis Condrey were answering questions and wondered if anyone knows what the event was called.

  21. Wasn't there a Nitro from the arse end of 1996 that was in such poor quality that WWE 24/7 decided not to air it? I believe it was just after Piper debuted. Didn't they go on some trading board and buy a copy from somebody and tidy it up a bit?

The only Nitro I remember Piper debuting on was the one where Bischoff turned heel and joined the NWO probably around middle of November. Be interesting to find out which one they got hold of as I believe there was around 5 or 6 Nitro's left out of that year.

Kinda weird how when WWE want something they ignore copyright. Speaking of copyright ive always wondered how you can have shows called X-Factor or a film called The Heartbreak Kid when WWE surely owns the copyright to those names. Did WWE to a deal for usage of the names?

  22. Does anyone know where one could get a hold of the music that WWE have used for years when a steel cage or the HIAC is being lowered?

In the early days of the internet of looking for themes I remember a few promos being released by GodzFire & KNorth83. Ive no idea where they got alot of their stuff from unless someone in WWE was leaking it out. Wasen't there a rumour years ago about someone in production was leaking music?

In regards to the WWE tape Library it says that when WWE bought the WCW Video Library some tapes were in such poor condition that they could be used for Classics on Demand.

Is there any examples of how bad the quality is or why shows in particular are bad? I would of thought Bischoff or whoever owned them say Turner would of kept them in good condition or was it simply done on purpose because of WWE buying it?
