  1. Is the Russo timeline any good?

    I saw this clip

From the sounds of it he just seems to be lying through his teeth because it wasent a work. Heard bad reviews about it being a bit Its a work excuse in every question. I mean if hes that sick of answering questions why did he agree on doing the shoot.

Surely someone like Jeff Jarrett would have been a better choice to do the timeline.

  2. How does a WWE show differ from a independent show after the show has ended?

For instance went to a show last night and as soon as the show ended and most people had gone a few wrestlers had come out to take the ring down where we could get a autograph and have our pic taken. As we walked down the hall near the exit door various wrestlers were chatting there talking and some fans were talking to then, getting things signed and were happy to have pics taken. A couple of the wrestlers left early due to living further away than the others so didnt get to see everyone.

I know earlier in the year Johnny Storm was on the show and they announced before his match that if people wanted a signed photo to hang on in the arena after his match where they would set a table up and he would sign some stuff.

How would this differ from a WWE show as never been to one before and wondered if we would see a similar thing or would that just be a no no because of security protecting them?

  3. From the summer of 1998 or so. I think it started at 9pm on Saturdays, then moved into the WCW HELL BLOCK to 11:30 after Nitro on a Friday.

Ive just consulted my big wrestling book of all the tapes I recorded at it seems the first show I recorded was 8th October 1998. Whether that date means US date or UK date ive no idea but the first match I have written down for that show is Kanyon vs Iaukea with a main event of Stevie Ray vs Lex Luger.

As for it being a Saturday im not so sure because the tape has Nitro first then Thunder and after that Raw and as I recorded the 2am airing weekly im guessing Nitro aired on a Thursday and Thunder aired on a friday unless these were both on a Friday evening.

  4. Luger was a decent draw in the late eighties. His house show run with Flair was more successful than any other run from that period, including the Flair/Sting. He probably could have been major star if WCW didn't continually fuck him.

Why did Ric have such a problem with dropping the belt to Luger?

  5. Ive been plowing through the rest of Raws from 1996 and am not up to the end of May 1997 and was wondering who those 2 Nation members were. I recognise everyone else but not sure who that skinny chap is who stands next to Clarence Mason. There was another guy who would also stand next to D'lo but not sure on him either.

Around Cold Day in Hell they mentioned Rose Anderson passed away and mentioned her name on Raw. Was she anything to do with the wrestling Anderson family?

The two dudes with The Nation would be PG-13 - JC Ice (Jamie Dundee) and Wolfie D.

No I dont mean PG- 13 the two guys I mean are black.

  6. Ive been plowing through the rest of Raws from 1996 and am not up to the end of May 1997 and was wondering who those 2 Nation members were. I recognise everyone else but not sure who that skinny chap is with glasses who stands next to Clarence Mason. There was another guy who would also stand next to D'lo but not sure on him either. I dont think its the guy Ahmed put through the table at the rumble.

  7. Im looking for some indepth info during the late 1996 to Early 1997 WWF TV. I remember as a kid I found it very confusing. One minute they were hyping on Raw a matches and the next week when I tuned in nothing was mentioned about it. I had no idea as to why Goldust was feuding with Jerry Lawler and I remember them saying they were about 5 weeks away from the Rumble and the following week it was suddenly 2 weeks.

From memory back then I had to tune into WWF Mania to see exactly was happening with WWF with highlights of stuff on Raw that didnt air during the UK's Raw broadcast. Any kid would of been confused when they talked about Taker & Ahmed teaming up tonight which wasent strictly true because we had to wait a week to see the match. I gather we only got a 1 hr show so what America got 2 hrs we had to wait and stuff but Tazz attacking Lawler on Raw I dont recall being aired.

Any ideas when these delays started and when they finished, if they were splitting up Raw into 2 parts must of taken ages to get up to date.

Other quick question. How far in advance is Wrestlemania Main Events booked? If HBK/Austin from 14 was on the books for a while they must have been in jeopardy when Bret beat Shawn up backstage and he threw his hair on Vince's desk threatening to never come back.

  8. I was flicking through a old Powerslam magazine last night and they mentioned that WWF news item where Jarrett got outed saying Jesse James really sang With my Baby Tonight. But the weird thing was they said Jesse never sang the song when it was infact former Killer Bee Jumpin Jim Brunzell.

Any idea what on earth they were on about? You even hear Jesse singing it on Raw so kinda wondered.

  9. Team debuted in WCW in August 1993 (according to that HistoryofWWE site). On their debut, they were called Harlem Heat. Can't find any mention of "Posse". I've got a team called Southern Posse, but they were different guys right? Sure they were a jobber-like team. Wasn't one of them Phineas Godwinn?

This is the earliest appearance of Harlem Heat on WCW Worldwide 1993. Think the date is August 14th. Nice matching attires. Debut match on Worldwide too.

  10. but wasn't Lost Questions just an overrun of his first shoot or was it a completely different interview?

That was my impression, yep. Even the main YouShoot went on forever and he only answered a few of the questions!

What I did enjoy about Cornette's shoot was how he encouraged fans to search out the SMW season sets thats avaliable by traders as WWE own all the footage to it. Couldnt see Vince ever saying that about one of his old season sets.

Nash would be a good one to have for one of the WCW timelines I think.

WCW Timeline 2000 with Russo is being advertised as coming soon, I wonder if it is going to be a car wreck.

Talking of Russo what ever happened to that Youshoot LIVE DVD they advertised as for sale in August last year?

  11. Re, SOC - Christ, the shampoo match. I'd (probably deliberately) forgot all about that.

I enjoyed Rock vs Hogan myself, but I can see what you mean. I was actually the opposite when the nWo return was announced. My expectations were high, unrealistically high in hindsight. The way it all played out was absolute dog shit, but at the time of their return all I could see was 3 of the biggest names in wrestling were headed back to the WWF. I was giddy and I genuinely thought a Vince McMahon booked nWo angle, with the likes of Austin and Rock opposite them in storylines, would be brilliant. But as you say, the execution of it was all to cock and Hall being gone soon after and Nash getting hurt didn't help either.

King Of The Ring that year was turd as well. I loved the second half of 2002 though. SummerSlam, No Mercy and Survivor Series were all quality. And I don't think I've ever been as excited about a debut as when Scott Steiner came in at Survivor Series. I didn't know anything about his injuries at the time and I really thought he was set to have a serious big main event run. The timing would have been great for it as well with Hogan, Austin and Rock all gone at the time.

Actually, since it's the questions thread, here's one -

Were there ever any plans for Steiner and WrestleMania XIX? There must have been at some point, right? Before he had the crap matches with Triple H, he was pushed pretty hard. He was kept strong in late 2002 up to the Royal Rumble in 2003, when he'd just come out and throw people about. I can't even think who they could have paired him with for that 'Mania but surely there was something in the plans when they brought him in?

I myself was slightly interested with what Nash said on it.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9go-CeqY1UQ

Sounds like Austin just shot the whole thing down. I had heard about original plans were for Hall to go over Austin at Mania due to interference from Vince so maybe there was some truth in the matter.

  12. Going round a mates house on Saturday while his missus is on her hen-do & the plan is to get some beers, a take away & watch an old PPV. Given we're both pretty familiar with WWF/E I'm leaning towards a WCW event. Can anyone advise (spoiler free pls) which of their World War 3 events was the best? 1997 is leading at the moment. Any other WCW PPV's recommendation are also welcome.

    Cheers in advance.

Personally id go with 1995. The first one I found more enjoyable than the other years and the ending kept you enticed to what was going to happen on the weekly TV. If I remember right they had a Sting vs Ric Flair match on the cards as well as DDP & Mark Mero feuding over the TV belt. If your a japanese fan you ll love the tag team womens match they had with those girls who wrestled on the Survivor Series PPV. Pretty sure Benoit & Sasuke wrestled on the show as well so all in all a entertaining PPV.

  13. 0uz3.jpgpb0f.jpg

Any ideas where this came from?

Looks like Hogan is the face with that attire and you can see NWO Xpac in the background. Ive gone through all my Raws and SDs and couldnt find it anywhere.

  14. If The Ultimate Warrior had never been fired in 1992 would Mr. Perfect have ever turned babyface? What would of happenned regarding Ric Flair's WWE career? Would they of simply had Warrior beat Flair in a loser leaves WWE on Raw?

  15. Where can I watch the Flair/Piper Wife Swap episode that was on the other night?

Ian just posted it in the Youtube thread man.

Thanks for the headsup. Didnt know they were on and a shocker to find out Flair is with Fifi now.

Just need to find the complete episode of Goldberg on Are you smarter now.

Watching 1996 and wondered did Todd Pettengill play Billionaire Ted?

Regarding the Billionaire Ted skits what is the music they play at the end? Ive heard it before on ECW TV but not sure what its called.

  16. Who came up with the idea of Hogan bagging the belt at Mania 9? Some fans claim it was because Hulk refused to do mania unless he was getting a win in the Main Event something ive never truely believed in alough back then with faces going over in the Main Event seems odd to have Bret retain.

Regarding this time period the only time I saw Hulk wrestling was against Muta in Japan where Hulk seemed to bad mouth the championship for some reason. I remember a old WWF magazine where they had a pic of Beefcake & Hart celebrating in the ring after the show went off the air and people mentioned Vince joined in and was suprised when WWE released the story of Mania DVD they didnt include any of this considering how much off air stuff they filmed this night.

What were the original plans for the title? Ive heard Bret claim that it was supposed to be him and Hogan at Summerslam for the belt and saying Hulk wouldnt put him over. I would of thought they were planning on a feud with Gonzalez looking at House Shows were going. Even Matt Bourne claimed he was supposed to wrestle Hogan at a major PPV which seems a little odd in itself.

  17. Like the luminous shell suit couple always appear at shows in Ohio, with the occasional big ppv elsewhere thrown in.

My mate text me not long ago to say he saw Pink Shellsuit Man in the crowd on Raw... not wearing his pink shellsuit. Conspicuous by her absence, Yellow Shellsuit Woman.
Is that the same one in Pink who burst into tears when Shawn beat Sid in Texas for the WWF Title at the Royal Rumble 1997?Was there any long term plans for The Ultimate Warrior back in 1996? Around the time WWF Magazine ran a fantasy warfare article on a what if HBK wrestled Warrior. Considering they were due to tag at the July PPV that year always curious if it was on the cards.Im currently watching Nitros from 1995 and they talk about Halloween Havoc where Hogan lost the WCW Title by DQ to The Giant when that Yeti came down and Jimmy Hart hit the ref so Hulk would lose the belt. Any ideas why they did this? From memory I recall a month Later Savage bagging the belt at the 60 man battle Royal only to lose it to Flair at Starrcade but looking back at the History Hogan had held the belt since July 1994 and just seems odd why they would do a naff decision just to end a year long run with the belt. Normally when guys hold the belt for over a year its so a big name can take the belt and do great things with the Championship.
  18. A couple of months ago I was watching a shoot interview, alough I forget the name of the person being interviewed and one question they spoke about a certain Rockers/Brain Busters match being really good, one of Shawn Michaels best matches.Any ideas what match they are talking about? I gather its a house show match but fancied watching the match but not sure what house show it was on.

  19. He wouldn't have wrestled there in years. WCW only ran a few shows in Canada and Hall was to pissed to make it over on all those occasions. The last time he worked Canada must have been 1995 when he wrestled Owen Hart on Stu Hart's Birthday show.

Scott Hall wrestled Booker T in Canada as part of WCW's PPV Mayhem in 1999.
  20. How many British wrestlers have done Shoot Interviews? I know Mark "Rollerball" Rocco did one, Dave Finlay, Jody Fleish, Ricky Knight, Adrian Street, Johnny Storm & Dynamite Kid did one but anyone else?Would love to seen Kendo Nagasaki do one or Wayne Bridges but anyone else from the World of Sport era?

  21. It might be fun to watch Raw and Nitro one after the other, you'd get more of a sense of how the two compared week by week.

What would you suggest watching first? Back in the day they both used to start at the same time.
  22. Im currently in my marathon of watching WWE TV on the final Raw broadcast in August 1995 before they take a crazy insane 3 week break of action returning in middle of September. From memory this was when Nitro started and wondered would it be best to watch Raw & Nitro's back to back from this date or should I just continue to the end of 1997 first? As ive watched all WWE tv from 1998 up to 2001 not sure what to continue to watch after this so kinda after advice on whats the best way to have a enjoyable marathon of wrestling.

  23. They didn't wrestle on any house shows. Luger worked Bret right up until his face turn.

According to historyofwwe they did, all with Luger going overWWF @ Oakland, CA - Coliseum - June 25, 1993Lex Luger pinned Razor Ramon with the running forearm at 6:10 WWF @ Sacramento, CA - Arco Arena - June 26, 1993 (3,400)Lex Luger defeated Razor RamonWWF @ Anaheim, CA - Arrowhead Pond - June 28, 1993 (7,000)Lex Luger defeated Razor Ramon
  24. Cheers, air_raid. Was that the last feud that was intended for house shows only? I can't think of anything since that never headed to a ppv/TV blow-off, but I'm probably forgetting loads. In theory, that practise would've still been in place until they started doing In Your House, wouldn't it?

Off the top of my head from around that time, Perfect and Diesel had a house show run that emerged from SummerSlam '93, but we'll never know if there was meant to be a televised blow off due to Perfect leaving. Luger and Borga likewise never had a televised singles match before Borga sustained his injury, although they did collide in their team match at Survivors, as Perfect and Diesel had been scheduled to do. The closest I can think of is when Luger spent all summer wrestling Crush on house shows in 1994, but they still had the one televised match on Sunday Night Slam at the end of the run when the attention was just being shifted to Luger VS Tatanka. Even as early as 1994 Raw started to feature more Superstar v Superstar matches and less jobber content, so even if a feud didn't get a PPV blow off chances are it still got onto TV. In late '94 and early '95 Diesel was having a run with Backlund but again there was still one televised match between the two, tucked away on Action Zone as it was. First the introduction of In Your House and then the advent of Nitro virtually guaranteed that no series between notable talent was kept for house show only consumption any more.
Speaking of Mr Perfect did any of his matches in 1992 - 1993 against Razor Ramon get televised? I know they faced in a tag match at Survivor Series and seemed to make a big deal of a feud between the two.On a old coliseum video release Hart faced Luger where Razor got involved and got knocked out by Luger, I think they had a scrap. I remember the odd match on a house show but guess nothing major happenned before Razor turned face.Who actually sang With my Baby Tonight? First it was Jarrett until WWE said Roadie but Powerslam said Brian never sang the song and Jumping Jim Brunzell actually sang it.Final question. Why does Kevin Nash get a bad rep for his year long WWF title run? Viewing the first half of 1995 he was booked against Hart, HBK and 2 encounters with Sid in a 2 giants match. Very entertaining, didnt seem to me on second viewing about his reign sucking. From this time period it seems odd as to why he was given a year run with the belt as no other person from WWE in the 1990s got a year run with the belt.
