  1. Say what you want, Tyson Fury does have entertaining fights. One of these days though when he's in with someone with real power, or with a really slick boxer, his defensive frailties are going to cost him bad. If he is ever going fulfil those big predictions he makes he's going to have to put in an awful lot of work. He's got power, but sometimes I think that he and people around him are drinking the kool aide. Some member of the public in the hype video before the fight said that he though Fury was two fights away from being able to beat Wlad and Vitali. Mick Hennesy afterwards said that he thought that it was the Hagler/Hearns of the heavyweight division. Now granted it was an entertaining three round fight but it was in no way the same as Hagler/Hearns.

Also, for someone who is six foot nine Tyson Fury fights like a fucking retard.

    Good points mate.

He needs someone who will be a positive and encouraging influence but who will also be honest and upfront and at times strict.

He could do with checking in at the Wild card gym.

  2. I agree very much with the Eubank jnr comments. Seems to be a very talented young man but needs to find his feet and try and forget who and what his Dad did in his career.

Tyson Fury, always exciting but where do I start ? What frustrates me about Fury are the things that can easily be fixed with some hard work and determination but are always left. He looked in terrible shape last night, he's meant to be a professional boxer, our best British heavyweight hope for the future.

He needs major help in this regard, if he worked more on his body, strength and fitness he would improve out of sight. He needs to work on his posture, build up muscle and improve fitness and stamina.

He needs to improve in many other areas like his woeful defence and ability to take a shot and remain composed but the above for me should be a given for any professional boxer.

Perhaps he's lazy or lacks true determination and motivation, I don't know but his career will be a short one and not what he wants if he doesn't take a long hard look at himself and start to make positive changes soon.

  3. Good job, well done by Ricky Burns last night. He looked pretty relaxed and comfortable throughout.

George Groves, well it was a nice finish but not sure what else to say. He got the job done quickly.

Kirkland WTF !!! Never a dull moment eh ?

  4. For some reason I thought the Pac/JMM was going to free on Sky.

Some fantastic end of year fights to look forward too either way. BoxNation have a fantastic line-up of fights, Primetime have Pac/JMM and Sky fingers crossed, Froch/Ward.

Speaking of Carl Froch, many seem to make Ward fav but I just don't buy it. It won't be an easy, one-sided contest but I fancy the Cobra to come through it.

  5. on the BoxNation coverage...fight wise you can't complain, they showed a whole nights worth of fights, i didn't watch many but still to have the option there is great. Other than that though i thought the presentation was naff. Richard Keys clearly doesn't know much about boxing, why is there? The graphics and overall feel is very 90's it didn't look like a modern boxing event at all, and lastly, get Enzo Macarinelli out of the commentary booth he's dreadful.

Its early days so i'll give the channel a pass, but still...

    Fight wise- fantastic.

However I agree with presentation. It reminded me of watching ITV boxing coverage in the 90's.

Why pay Richard Keys to present the show ? He clearly knows nothing about boxing and it showed.

I'd like to think BoxNation are simply learning as they go and bigger changes and improvements will be made in time.

Frank Warren's got a good opportunity to think outside the box and try new ways and ideas of presenting the product and giving it a new modern lift.

Enzo wasn't as bad as I thought he would be. Ritchie Woodhall should of taken his place mind.

  6. Yeah it is gonna be a subscription channel eventually. I think it said December somewhere it will switch to subscription but I'm not 100% on that.

It's a smart move giving us all this free for a bit so we get used to having it and we won't want to lose it when it stops being free. It's worked on me, for what we'll be getting and have been getting on there, I've got no problem paying a tenner a month for that.

    I agree.

The fights planned between now and Christmas look very good too.

The Cotto fight, Groves/Smith and the Ricky Burns fight are must see.

  7. Great night of Boxing.

Really enjoyed the Degale fight, he showed some heart and determination.

I'm not convinced though, never have been and I don't think he will become a true world class fighter. Happy to be proved wrong though.

The Clev fight was fantastic. Although he looked the fitter and stronger in the middle rounds, I had the fight much closer. In all honesty I had scored the fight a draw, over the 12 rounds I couldn't split them.

Not seen the Hopkins fight yet so will watch that later.

  8. how do you think Sky will cope now that Frank Warren's gone to Sky? i was watching Ringside this week an it' pretty interesting to see that they are still promoting Warren's fighters on there, they did a little preview of the Cleverly-Bellew fight.

They randomly showed footage from last week's Showbox event though was pretty weird (great fight highlight though), which was aired live on Premier Sports.

I like how Sky are featuring a home grown and world wide look at boxing.

I also like the fact that they review or look back at events not featured live on Sky. I thought they might be tempted to insult the viewer and just focus on Sky events but thats not the case.

They even had Amir Khan on Ringside a few weeks back !

Fingers crossed Sky, Primetime, BoxNation and any other broadcaster can help push boxing back into the big time and continue to give us fans more

choice and opportunity to enjoy a sport we love.

  9. Also loving the return of The Boxing Hour, needs Andy Kerr too !

BoxNation also showing Hopkins/Dawson and the DeGale return, should be good.

I think Clev/Bellew will be very close.

  10. Primetime are pleased to announce an exciting schedule of classic Mayweather fights all week as we build up towards the Star Power pay-per-view. These exciting fights are available free on channel 480 on Sky

Should help with the build-up to Mayweather/Ortiz. I'm looking foward to it.

  11. if Carl Froch goes on to defeat Andre Ward would you say that Froch surpasses Joe Calzaghe's achievments in the ring? it's arguable that he has already (for me, he has)...but if Froch wins that it's gotta be the cherry on the top of the greatest run of fights in british fighters career. Calzaghe will always have the unbeaten thing going for him but there's no way that he boxed competition as good and as consisitently as Froch has.

I would also agree. I really feel sorry for Froch though, P4P he's the best in Britain and World class without doubt but nobody knows it.

From the Pascal fight onwards he's taken on the best at his weight (Bute aside), ducked nobody and more often than not put on an exciting performance.

I just wish we would have been treated to Calzaghe/Froch before Joe called it a day. That would of made Froch, win or lose into a star before the birth of the Super Six. To be fair, Carl tried his best to get Joe to make it happen but Calzaghe knew he could go to America and have an easier time of it.

Steve Bunce teased/joked last week of a Calzaghe return, if a fight with Froch could be made............
