  1. So shenanigans start again.

The August show has been moved to October 28th and is now a double show day.

Tickets for the afternoon show are being carried over, so presumably still full price then 🙃

  2. I missed all the 'fun' of the early 1PW shows 😳

I just got the inebriated Sandman at To the Extreme N1, unexpected fireworks and general nonsense of 4AS, the most foul mouthed promo ever at the Ellesmere Port show (family friendly and Ulf Herman do not work well together) and the utterly bizarre attempt to run in Liverpool.

Not to mention though Mr Gauntley's PW101 and its very strange one and only standalone Sheffield event.

This most recent show, aside from the final brawl definitely lacked the classic 1PW feel!

The people loved Ulf first time round. I've no interest in going back to 1PW, but I reckon it would be fun to see his entrance again.

We did get the flames last time but not at this event.

It was a much better show this time around, no unnecessary 'invasion' angle, no ridiculous dusty finishes, just a good, straight forward card with a fair mix of imports and UK talent.

  4. The All or Nothing PPV just came to an end and as they crowned the new champion, there was an actual brawl in the crowd that spilled through the guardrail!

The most 1PW thing to ever happen.

  5. Bit like my contributions to this forum, I've been a long time gone from live shows, but when I saw this promoted I knew it would either be highly enjoyable or a complete clusterfudge!

As it was, definitely trended more towards the enjoyable.

    The good:

    - All the main imports actually showed up!

    - a pleasant mix of British talent and import / 1PW veterans.

    - Matches generally entertaining and delivered. Unpredictable results too.

    - Organisation, timekeeping and setup were good.

    The bad:

    - the main event fell a rather flat - RVD seemed to be doing as little as possible, his wife was a very overstated presence at ringside and Haskins is a very kinetic wrestler who didn't really suit the pairing against the slow moving Van Dam (I'd rather have seen Daniels vs. RVD and Haskins vs. Noir). The ending definitely deflated the majority of the audience.

    The ugly:

    - the classic Britwres post-match invasion by people you don't really know, for reasons that are incomprehensible. Half way through the first show and already got heels calling out the management and threatening to destroy the promotion in a segment that went on far too long. Felt completely inorganic and half the guys involved weren't even introduced ssoreally didn't set up any enthusiasm for a future feud.

  6. Progress don't announce their cards in advance, since they generally eschew imports on their normal shows. Plus since most of their shows sell out, there isn't much need to plug them.

Matches will either be the result of an event at a previous show, or a random collation of whatever talent is free that week.

Certainly looks fine, first row see people going in and out, and second id say easier as can slide chair back to get out as no standing behind it

There were people standing/sitting on the ledge behind the seats when we were there.

Yes, you probably could get to the bar, but it is not especially easy, particularly if you get seats down toward the staging as we did (seats are unreserved).

  8. It was a really fun show. Seats appear to be just on one side of the ring (right of the hardcam) with two rows and a narrow row for standing behind. Perfectly comfortable but hard to get in and out except during the interval.

The show was a Fightclub taping, so very quick fire matches and good fun, although we did end up with three non-finishes in a row, which might make more sense with some back stage footage spliced in on the on-demand version.

Seats are right by the ring, know a few folk who sit and have never heard anything said badly about the view. Standing I am usually near the front so can get a good view, depends on your height really as per any other gig

Thanks, I'm going to the show on Sunday next, got Silver seats. Lionheart vs. KLR should be superb.

    Card as it currently stands:

    Banks (C) vs ZSJ

    Dunne vs Dragunov

    Ospreay vs Havoc

    Mandrews vs Dennis

    Tag-team Thunderbastard

Strong card so far I think, any of those could easily headline a chapter.

I’d be surprised if WALTER isn’t added to the main event, a woman’s title match, Atlas title match and maybe Flash/Haskins?

Also agree about Warehouse becoming the new venue for Manchester. Solves the crazy ticket situation and was a much better venue all round.

Ospreay confirming on a Youtube video that he cannot be on the show due to NJPW commitments (presumably not a work?). A pity, it was a match they seemed to be building up to well, but they could easily use it to headline a chapter show.

  11. Just got tickets for Manchester, not many left at all. I recall WCPW claimed 2,000 when they ran the Angle v. Cody event there a couple of years back, I wonder how many this is going to have?

  12. Rumours of 4,000 sold were being discussed in Manchester, from Meltzer IIRC.

By the way - Manchester Victoria Warehouse, amazing venue and Progress would be stupid to return to the pokey O2. I know they like to have their 60 second sellouts and the bigger venue might not be completely full, but makes it so much easier to promote the show to new fans.

  13. I've got my money on Chris Brookes, but either one of the GYV could be a good pick to win the tournament.

I'm wondering if the title match at Manchester will end up being a triple threat. Perhaps if the Walter v. Banks match ends in a dusty finish - with two refs both declaring a winner, then Sexsmith will agree to face both.

Some pretty epic matches there - although considering the talent on the card, hard to imagine any bad matches with this lot.

Only Flash v. Keith Lee is a bit of a dud since they only had that a couple of Manchester shows ago, but I suspect with some Havoc/Haskins involvement it could be rather different.

Genuinely don’t know how I could possibly be any less underwhelmed with the Victoria Warehouse announcements so far. Two of my absolute least favourite wrestlers. Guess things can only get better from this point...

On the other hand, SSS16 is shaping up nicely, and the New Orleans shows are looking potentially incredible!

I agree, while I think Sexsmith is a fun wrestler and makes a great tag team with David Starr, or a good underdog match, having him in a one-on-one title match with, presumably Travis Banks, does seem a little B-card.

However, I wonder if it might end up being a triple threat match, since they have not said at any time that it is going to be a one-on-one competition. They are having another Thunderbastard in the USA, the winner of that might also pick Chapter 69 to cash in.

The women's match sounds more interesting as, with the match graphic, they are definitely suggesting that shenanigans are likely to be afoot...

At this stage, Tim Storm is fine. He looks great with the belt and he talks good. No fucker is watching this stuff so you either have someon who looks and sounds good who you can show highlights of or you need a champ who's busy in other promotions carrying your belt.

I don't think you need a workhorse. Love the idea of Trevor Murdoch though. Was always a fan. Had an old school look and worked good but not great. genuinely didn't know he still worked.

I think he is a good call. If they had stuck the belt on Cody Rhodes, James Storm or any of the indy scene regulars who are floating around, it would have just been yet another belt. Instead, people are talking about Tim Storm, he is getting attention - probably going to get far more eyes at CZW ToD and HoH than even appearing on Impact Wrestling.

  17. Just watching a few Progress moments on Demand. Anyone wonder what it must be like for the bar staff/security when the entire crowd suddenly pops like crazy for someone showing up (think CCK at Vote Pies).

I wonder if any of them get into wrestling from wanting to share the experience, or do they think we are just crazy loons?

Okay, one last gripe - as great as the Women's Title match was, I don't think Ember Moon was the right call to win it. She's the one in that match with the most high profile loss to Asuka on her record, so it just makes it look like she wasn't good enough to beat Asuka, and had to wait until she was gone before she could win the belt, and that makes her look weaker than if she'd not won at all. Kairi Sane could have won with no ill effect, having not faced Asuka before (though maybe they were reluctant to go with another Japanese champion, lest she get seen as a poor man's Asuka), Nikki Cross could have won - having her big loss to Asuka come through a big high spot means she's a little more protected in that respect that Ember - or Peyton Royce could have cheated to win it. Ember just seems like the weakest option for me, under those circumstances.

My big concern with Moon winning it, is that we have another 'unbeatable' champion, so it is going to be the same as Asuka's reign for another long time.

If Royce or Cross had won it (by underhanded means), we could have had a sneaky heel champion, helped by their team/partner, to add some variation for a while, before Moon or Sane finally take it come the Mania weekend.

  19. I don't see WWE posing a real threat to ICW or the British indies any time soon. Their UK shows at best will be an occasional taping somewhere in the country, not likely to interfere with ICW's Garage or Progress' Electric Ballroom events.

The WWE NXT tour was probably the closest WWE have come to competing with the British indy scene and it was hardly sold out, nor did it stop any people going to indy shows aside from any on that exact night in that town.
