  1. Almost a decade and a half behind the rest of the world I've started watching The West Wing, having owned the boxset for over 2 years. Almost finished season1 and I'm absolutely loving it. The collection of characters is fantastic and I can't imagine any of them leaving, though I did accidentally find out one does indeed leave soonish. I initially thought Sam was the main character, but then thought it was more Josh, but it really is more of an ensemble cast. I'm intrigued to see how they deal with 9/11 in a couple of seasons.

Have you watched Aaron Sorkin's other shows; Sports Night, Studio 60?

  2. Shane Meaddows has a good one about wrestling, which is an extra on one of the DVDs. Apologies for vagueness.

Northern Soul, it's on Dead Man's Shoes DVD. The character goes to one of the GNP/NBW shows and wrestles The Big Dog Rainz.
  3. Just watched that first ep of Accused. Really good performances from Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. Thought the writing was a bit hit and miss but on the whole, a dead good bit of telly. I'll watch Good Cop tonight as well perhaps.

Is there a new series of Accused? Have to take a look

The first series had a great cast, I thought.

  4. Just watched A Touch Of Cloth. The jokes were pretty formulaic but still managed to raise a laugh. On another note, from the adverts I could've sworn that it was James Nesbitt playing the lead. Sorry, John Hannah. :(

I thought that at first, I think I might have preferred James Nesbitt. Overall, I enjoyed it. There was a few bits I didn't like (eg. bit where during the chase scene where she just stops to wave those ribbons, don't know the correct term) but for the most part it made me laugh.

Also, enjoyed Bad Sugar by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain which had a pretty good cast of comedy actors.

  5. Anybody watch the BBC mini series Line of Duty? Thought it was pretty good, BBC seems to be one of the best UK channels for producing serious crime drama. Blackout which was on a few weeks/month back was pretty good too.

The Newsroom is also up to episode 7 in the US and I've gotten really into the show too. I felt early in to the season that it could become too stale but it has manage to stay quite fresh by not always sticking to the same format every week.

  6. I enjoyed Drive, is my favourite film to come out last year. I thought it didn't sacrifice style over substance as much as something like Kill Bill that a lot of people go on about being great/amazing. The thing I particular like about Drive is how enigmatic Driver is like Eastwood is in the Dollars trilogy and how he's character drove off in to the sunset at the end, like a Western or it could also be seen as like a Taxi Driver style ending.

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

Eh? He's fucked. He's driven off to die. Nothing like either of those films, really.

I didn't see him as enigmatic, either. This is something that's said far too much of characters that are quite simply just quiet in films. He's just a bit of a mental.

    Well you've changed my opinions.

  8. Anyone been watching The Newsroom? I'm kinda mixed towards it. Some of it is great, like Jeff Daniels' performance and

the car crash of a main segment within the news show itself this week.

");document.close(); And then there's serious weaknesses, like occasional clunky dialogue (it's unnatural and more like pre-prepared speech), the just about passable level of drama and

I like for the most point, but yeah the dialogue can seem unnatural and sometimes it feels like there using inner terms (cant remember the exact phrase I'm thinking off) for the sake of it.

  9. Sky have just announced that the jason issacs show 'awake' will be coming to sky atlantic.

just a question for anyone who watches it. its been getting great reviews from every outlet i can see but its chances of a second season seem very slim. is it still worth watching anyway?

Yeah I've been watching it and really enjoying it. Got episode 7 downloading as we speak. I really do hope it gets a second season, but they could comfortably give it a conclusive and satisfying ending with everything they're setting up right now. Especially after seeing the trailer for episode 7 and what it potentially entails to the plot.

Only watched first four episodes, got a bit behind of it, I think its pretty good, but by the first 4 episodes it was starting to feel a bit stale, hopefully it picks up, will get round to watching it all.

  10. The new Ricky Gervais series looks in excruciatingly poor taste.

I didn't think it looked in poor taste, the thing that got me is how shit the costumes/wigs and stuff looked. Looks like a parody rather then an actual mocumentary. I'm still going to give it a watch but I don't think it'll be as good as the office or Extras.

Speaking of Extras, I've just started watching Episodes with Stephen Mangan and MAtt LeBlanc, which is pretty good, stayed away from it at first has all that I heard about it was Matt LeBlanc but once I found out Stephen Mangan and Tasmin Greig were in it, decided to give it a shot.

  11. I think Sherlock would have been better if he was actually dead and they ended it there, it would have been more surprising considered how many times the twist of thinking someone is dead through out the film to reveal he's not at the very end. The end was set up so he could have survived so would have had more impact if he actually died rather then telegraphing Sherlock still being a live.
