Dunno if this has appeared here elsewhere before but I just watched this brilliant half hour Vampiro interview from a couple of years ago and if you like his brand of rambling nonsense you should check it out.

His teenage daughter gets interviewed about her dad for a few minutes and it's great, she seems like a good kid and I think it's fascinating that the Vampiro who's infamous for exaggerated stories is so far from the guy she knows as her dad.

It's hilarious how he always puts everyone over as being a legit badass psycho, like he lives in a world of pure violence. He talks about crossing paths with a menacing rapper who's affiliated somehow with the crips and the bloods, the rapper he is talking about is Tone Loc! (the comedy rapper who appeared on an anti gang violence charity single). He also says Mili Vanilli are badass European gang bangers who went looting "Manchester United soccer players" with him.

Other highlights are him breaking down and crying the first time he saw the cover of "never mind the bollocks" because he knew then he had to be a punk. The fact that he watched Repo Man every day for years is great too, that's one of my favourite films. Finally he says completely straight faced that his advice for the kids is; "don't focus on your education".

The YouShoot interview was fantastic. Not sure if he was just high AF or what but he talked about consumption of human meats, demons and going on a pilgrimage to Alaistair Crowley's house to do a week-long ritual there.

The fact that your three “hardcore match” guys can get separated by road agents doesn’t put them over at all.

Looking forward to him fame-assing Havok with barbed wire on their next hot show.

Genuinely this might be the worst brawl I've ever seen. Look at those punches.

As AEW has said, it's the "new standard in pro wrestling", brother!

Joey Jenelli and Havok would probably go blind if they ever got to see the inside of a gym. Pretty sure Havok could afford a David Lloyd membership now.

  4. Pentagon Jr.

Possibly Nick Gage. If he's willing to rob a bank for $20 imagine what he'd do in a fight. Guy seems legit cold and nuts AF in interviews too.

All the hate for this show already seems misguided.

The main shows are currently directionless drivel without anywhere near the star level required to carry such poor material.

This show will have no long term ramifications, and may well be directionless drivel too: but it’ll have star power, at least.

    I’ll take it.

If WWE were to become the short-term, dopamine-hit, star-power nostalgia show and AEW the star-free alternative? Deal.

    Still better than AEW.

We don’t really have any confirmation of that - their pre-shows suggest they don’t really give a shit about making money at this point, their focus is on building a brand. Albeit a rather messy, unfocused brand as of yet, but they’re very new. And they’re doing alright on their big shows just from their existing audience. It might be that establishing AEW as the kind of promotion that has surprises like CM Punk turning up is more important to them than promoting the first CM Punk appearance in advance.

Whether they did it as a surprise, or promoted the hell out of it beforehand, getting Punk would be a huge deal for them, and I’d hope they’re at least trying their hardest to pull it off.

The downside is, it’s a bit of an uninspiring roster for him to go against. He’s wrestled Jericho loads already. He wrestled the Shield a lot, and I could easily see an insidery “I’m better than you at moaning about WWE” feud with Moxley being a disappointment. Punk vs Omega is the big one for me, but it does seem like Kenny is coming off less and less a star with every show. Hopefully All Out turns it around for him.

CM Punk vs MJF would be fantastic too.

  7. Honestly I liked the show. Lessons learnt but still some gaps they need to cover. I don't get why the babyfaces lost so much tbh, gotta give the crowd someone to believe in they've got behind. Allin losing clean so easily to Shane after drawing to Cody last show, and Riho taking a pin were disappointing. MJF and Lucha Bros seem to stand out as their top talent who have something about them and who I want to see again. Still find Page utterly boring but Omega was actually OK to watch.

Gotta love also Janela making a comment about Cornette during the match. 😄

So you want them to produce more video packages and put them on YouTube, so you don’t have to go on YouTube to find out who he is?

Everytime he has been on TV he has been protected and the announcers have drilled home that he is the future.

No, take one or two matches away and put more build up and characterization on the shows.

Rhodes vs Bucks, setup on DON - knew match was happening and was a backstory. Interested for that match.

Personally I can look on YT as I'm a longtime fan. But we know new fans would like this put in front of them, they're going to add growth to the company, not me.

BTW, just to be clear, Page is just one of the future stars. Janela, Omega, and many others need more build up for ppl who don't know them.

I don’t really understand what you’re expecting here.

This is a brand new company with their third show on the weekend. Aside from making more of an effort with video packages and telling you he’s a big deal which, to be fair, I think they do a good job of, what more can they be doing?

It’s 2019. Everybody has access to Google, and wrestling has never been more accessible. If you’re that desperate to find out who Adam Page is, have a quick look on YouTube and you’ll probably come across his New Japan stuff and get a more clear picture.

Admittedly, I’d like to see him featured more heavily in promo packages in the lead up to the Jericho match, mind.

Sorry, I don't get why I'd do research on past appearances in other companies to see the AEW version of Page.

AEW should present more THEIR version of Page to make me tune in. More AEW promos, please.

And it's dumb to think every other viewer who's new to AEW should be researching on YT. Tell the casual viewer why they should watch him on AEW programming, and they might stay tuned.

  10. Just looked at the card and tbh there's only the Rhodes vs Guns match I'm bovvered with. And maybe the tag match, as some of them had a cracking match on the last two shows.

Am I missing something? Do AEW build up the other matches with some backstory or are we just gonna see them put random matches together with guys I hear are fucking amazing? Without anything to make me want to tune in?

I keep hearing for example Page is the best wrestler since day one. Except I know nothing about him and he kinda did nothing in the last match. I'm not invested in the newer guys and I have to think maybe AEW could do more.

Even something like back in the WWF days when someone new appeared on the card, the commentators would introduce you to them with something small like "this guy has 7 years in the business, won 4 championships" etc.

And please someone explain Kenny Omega to me.
