    Pat McAfee is bloody awful.

Yeah, there was a period toward the end of his last run where he became infectious and brought out the best in Cole, but he's back to going for minutes at a time ignoring Cole's direct comments towards him and the awkward stop-start cadence like he's just landed from another planet and is trying to replicate how we converse.

  2. I get that it's cynical Rock/Gerwitz appeasement writing but heel Rock ain't a gift horse I'm going to look in the mouth. You can get away with so much more with a heel presentation, even if the fans wind up cheering it anyway. Rock's hokey, derivative, outdated and it's now a part of the act. Miles better. I'm actually happy he's a part of the show now.

Just imagine the heat as Cody is about to hit his 5th Cross Rhodes in a row to seal the long awaited victory only to be smashed in the back with a steel chair as the camera cuts to Seth’s face with his big gormless tongue flopping out of his mouth as he does his “Hahahahaha” villain laugh.

  4. Yeah they look to have done a great job with them. Love all three but I'm a Tomb Raider II boy. That's the one I grew up with. At the time Venice felt like the most insanely absorbing, atmospheric 'realistic' atmosphere a game had ever done to me.

I don't know if I'm quite ready for Temple of Xian to give me nightmares again.

  5. Oh yeah. Here we go.

First proper road to WrestleMania segment since the chaos butterfly flapped its wings and I think they nailed it here. Straightforward, feelgood, "Here's what's happening, so get excited about it now" storytelling. You may as well go Bret WrestleMania X and have the locker room come out and shoulder Cody if he wins the big one if you're going for the "We're all behind you taking down this evil empire" dollar on this one.

Rollins best promo work probably ever, as well:

"I am sick and I am tired of these arrogant, entitled pricks who think they can do whatever they want - throw their weight around - with no consequences. I am sick of them always getting away with it."

Am I reading into that? You betcha.

  6. Went round to visit a mates on Friday night and we ended up organising and booking ourselves into the Mr. Bungle show in Berlin.

I'm not versed whatsoever on the world of Patton but the mate is and he said they're likely to just play Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny. Fine by me, though. He had it on the background and I liked what I heard. Trash always goes down well live with me.

Oxbow are meant to be great too but I have yet to go through them.

  7. A good definition of wrestling being insane is Drew easily slotting into any Rock/Cody/Reigns/Rollins title picture not even cracking the top five craziest things that have happened this year so far.

  8. Having watched it in full with fresh eyes it was admittedly a fucking ludicrous, one of a kind segment. Nothing with those exact variables and circumstances is going to happen again. Pure chaos butterfly stuff.

I don't think Rollins came off that bad either, and I've been as vocal as anyone about what a wet fart he's been lately. He's never going to be Cody or Rock, so playing it straight and being the dependable "The fuck's this mad shit? I just want to wrestle for the fans" guy is - really - the best thing he can do.

I worry for Cody getting those boos. It might have been a Vegas thing but it's impossible not to believe they've watered down the act after being in the utterly insane position of shitting the bed with him last year and still having just about every single fan in every single building roaring their heads off for him a year later but oh well.

  9. Is anybody who is batting for WWE having pulled this out of the fire now as excited looking at the Cody/Reigns poster as they would have been before this?

Because I really do get it. Davey Numbers done a good post on it, and Pinc's point on fans only wanting to be worked now is brilliant because the whole "Ahhhh, stop mentioning real life in your promos!" thing is so overwrought, but I can only speak in terms of my own energy and as someone who has historically been more than willing with this company to just go for the ride, I'm just knackered. I don't feel the same brilliant, linear, "Here we fucking go" surge of energy for this match that I did up to a week ago.

And that's all I care about really. Not who was most clever, or who made the most opportunities, or who created the best future revenue streams.

I'm just not excited for the main event as I was. It's not just that it was Cody's story, it was a benchmark moment for them putting over the right guy at the right time. Okay, the right guy a year later. And they were all in to just not bother.
