Only_The_Strong_Survive
Â Before he devolved into the out of control madman we see today, Kevin Steen was known as "Mr. Wrestling" and in 2005, the ROH faithful got their first taste of just what that meant. It wasn't until 2007 though, when Steen returned to Ring of Honor with El Generico as his partner that he was truly able to display his abilities. Whether it be as part of a duo, or battling in singles competition, Kevin Steen cemented himself as an innovative wrestler, as capable of taking high risks through the air as he was at brawling. Through hard-fought battles, "Mr. Wrestling" earned the respect of the fans and proved himself deserving of that nickname. Â This collection of 21 matches & highlights puts on display the relentless drive that led Steen to his first championship success in Ring of Honor; from his 2005 debut & never before released 1st ROH battle with El Generico through the battles with The Age of the Fall over the ROH World Tag Titles, this 2-Disc DVD set includes Steen & Generico's wars with The Briscoes, Kevin's bids for the ROH World Title against Morishima & Nigel McGuinness, as well as bouts against the likes of Bryan Danielson, Kenny King, and more! Before "Kill Steen Kill" there was "Mr. Wrestling", and this is his ascension to the top... Â Â Â Disc 1 1. Kevin Steen vs. B-Boy...Do or Die IV 2/19/05 (ROH debut) 2. Â Got round to watching Southern Defiance last night, They now use TV graphics, New menu with highlights running, Match card before each match, Interviews in a TV style, Widescreen, Better commentary and its in widescreen! It looks brilliant, Now they just need to use this formula on iPPVs

Baby steps otherwise if everything went in one go at full speed it would be a total fuck up, Its cool seeing things progress and change. Like with the TV shows I'm certainly enjoying it much more, a bit of variety with the matches as well at first it was two tag matches or two singles matches and it felt very samey to me. Thankfully they are mixing it up now and the Steen story line is picking momentum, still haven't got round to watching this weeks episode. ROHSteven
'Best in the World 2011' is probably the best event of 2011 - great event from bell to bell.
Paid Members Big Benny HG Posted February 14, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted February 14, 2012 ROH Allied Forces (15 October 2010)   ROH's October 2010 output takes the form of a Dayton-Chicago double-shot, with headline contests based around the Christopher Daniels vs. Davey Richards competitive rivalry. "Yay". The pair square off in the main event of Night Two, but first they do that annoying very ROH thing where they appear as tag team partners first on Night One. It must be said that my expectations for 'Allied Forces' as an event were not great, since the DVD comes packaged with a bonus disc. This is something ROH tends to do these days when they don't think the main feature is up to scratch on its own.  Sure enough, undercard offerings of Mark Briscoe vs. Mike Mondo, Colt Cabana vs. Andy Ridge (in the first of a puro-style "trial series" for the rookie), Kevin Steen & Steve Corino vs. Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly and Homicide vs. Kenny King are completely unremarkable and devoid of any point of interest. Ricky Reyes vs. Metal Master (Chad Collyer's AllStar/Michinoku Pro gimmick) is just plain crap and Daizee Haze vs. Lady JoJo (formerly Josie in SHIMMER and Sojo Bolt in TNA) is even worse - a thoroughly wretched contest.  It's not all bad, though. Jay Briscoe and Rhett Titus manage to have a really enjoyable back-and-forth singles scrap. The Briscoes have spent all of 2010 feuding with Hero and Castagnoli, but have also quietly been having some real good solo matches against the All Night Express, and I'm looking forward to seeing more in that direction. In addition, saving the best until last, the aforementioned tag main event where the Kings of Wrestling defend their ROH World Tag Team Titles against the odd couple pairing of Davey Richards &Christopher Daniels is very good. It won't be remembered among the Kings' best matches, but still provides 25 minutes of entertainment that keeps moving at a good pace, tells a decent story and always has something happening to keep you interested.  So, while the show itself is pretty underwhelming, the 3 hour+ bonus disc goes a long way in making up for it as it contains the entire CM Punk vs. Samoa Joe 2004 trilogy of ROH World Title matches in full. Possibly the most talked about trio of bouts in ROH history, many will have their own opinions on just how good the 3 contests (taking place at 'World Title Classic', 'Joe vs. Punk II' and 'All Star Extravaganza II') are, but there can be no doubt that these are must-see material, if even just to see what the hype was about and make up you own mind. It's also a chance for people who only know Punk and Joe from WWE and TNA to see some of their finest independent work. If you don't already have a copy of these, then 'Allied Forces' almost justifies a purchase for this alone.  Overall, then, this is similar to the recent 'Face to Black' release in that the show itself is very weak indeed, but the inclusion of the bonus material almost makes it an essential package. If you don't already have the Joe vs. Punk matches in your collection, this comes recommended for that very reason. If you do, then 'Allied Forces' is missable in every possible way.  It's also worth mentioning that 'Allied Forces' is the TWENTIETH ROH event DVD of 2010. When the majority are unremarkable 'B' shows such as this, that is too many events to realistically follow the promotion full-time. When their 'regular' live events no longer seem to have any relevance to the important storylines, angles and matches (in this age of weekly TV and a half-dozen 'big' cards per annum), most of these 20 have been completely skippable and it certainly helps justify my decision to only pick up select DVDs from their 2011 output.  Full show results: <-- click on 'spoiler' to show/hide the spoiler Mark Briscoe beat Mike Mondo with an Iconoclasm  Daizee Haze beat Lady Jojo with a German suplex  Colt Cabana beat Andy Ridge with the Billy Goat's Curse in a Trial Series match  Kevin Steen{W, overhead belly-to-belly suplex into turnbuckle} & Steve Corino beat Adam Cole{L} & Kyle O'Reilly  Ricky Reyes beat Metal Master with a swinging neck-breaker  Jay Briscoe beat Rhett Titus with a Jaydriller  Homicide beat Kenny King with an Ace Crusher  Kings of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) beat Christopher Daniels{L, KRS-1} & Davey Richards to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship  [close spoiler] ");document.close();
ROHSteven
I thought some of you might be interested in this. Â We interviewed Mike Mondo (current ROH wrestler and of Spirit Squad fame) about his time so far in ROH, what he hopes to achieve in the future and how Ring of Honor differs from WWE both inside the ring and behind the curtain. Â You can listen to the interview, which is around 40 minutes in length, here: http://bit.ly/xQMAtC Edited February 14, 2012 by ROHSteven

ROHSteven
In the past 12 months I can remember (one-on-one) Manhattan Mayhem IV where Eddie won the title and the Ringmaster's Challenge match from Death Before Dishonor IX. Forgot they also had the rematch for the title at Supercard of Honor VI. Edited February 15, 2012 by ROHSteven
