I'd be interested to see your all time top 20. No pressure or anything :p

I've seen both Japan shows from this year and have not much to say. The first show had a dead quiet crowd even by the standards of the first tour, and on the second night I was disappointed a bit by the much hyped KENTA and Kota Ibushi vs Marufuji and Nakajima match. I did enjoy Danielson winning the GHC Jr. title, and for me El Generico was the star of the tour with the winning fall in an otherwise all-DG six man on night 1, and having a very fun match with Taiji Ishimori on night 2. I might do a review of the Driven PPV I watched yesterday, but I'm not doing it now.

Finally, the Bobby Dempsey thing has progressed and moved along. I'm astounded at how long they kept this going, I was honestly finding the endless, repetitive segments, on the video wire and the backstage skits, so tedious. I was never even in to it in the first place due to how over zealous it was. It could have done with a lot more subtlety. On top of that, it was incredibly similar, in that regard, to the Jade Cheung and Prince Na Na situation. Bet even that lasted about a third of the time this was stretched out to!

Anyway, good news is that its finally moved on.

If I get some free time this week I'll have a bash at listing them :D

Maybe I was a tad harsh on DBD 6, I think that review generally reflects my disillusionment with ROH at the moment. I actually bore myself slagging off the same old things in the reviews, never mind the reader, but...what else can you do? Not say anything I suppose

That Albright/ Pearce match was a blinder though. I nearly fell out of bed watching it - the disbelief!!!!

The three I've highlighted immediately jump out at me as not that good shows. Possibly Weekend of Thunder Night 1 as well. GBH3 especially baffles me, the only thing I really remember thinking was great was the amazing timing of Homicide's entrance almost as soon as Corino's appearance had sunk in with the people there.

The original Death Before Dishonor, and the middle show from the Third Anniversary Celebration (Night 2, with Spanky/Gibson, Cabana/Nigel, Punk/Shelley, Joe and Danielson/Aries and Evans, and even the Styles/Rave main and Maff and Whitmer/Delirious and Jacobs tag title match providing goodness) are ones I'd have in my list. I have a bias towards Manhattan Mayhem II, which would put it in my list too.

Been a while since I watched GB3, so I may be mistaken about that. I vaguely remember it being a good show, I'll try and dig the disk out.

Battle of The Icons and FYF:NYC I'm willing to defend though. Aside from the main event, every match on BOTI was good. Brutal I Quit match between Rave & Nigel, good Last Man Standing between Jacobs and Whitmer, a cracking tag bout between the Pitbulls and Briscoes, decent 3 way dance, AWESOME 6 man tag... great show!

As for FYF New York, again, the main event was wank, but the rest of the card was really good. Gen Next spiltting (little did we know that be the highlight of the angle right there), Samoa Joe vs Morishima, Xaviers' one night return...Great stuff!!

I always thought the original DBD was overated to be honest. My mate got real excited about the fact Jeff Hardy had been booked beforehand, and I told him it would turn out to be a disaster (which it did). The main event was ok, but nothing amazing. There were a couple of good matches - the 4CS, Punk vs Raven..again, I was never that impressed with the Briscoes vs AJ/ Red feud. To be honest I thought the match they had at The Epic Encounter was better than the DBD match...I can see why it's hailed as a classic show, but didn't do much for me.

Can't remember much about TAC : Night 2, except that McGuinness and Cabana had a really good WOS style match...incidentally that was McGuinness' break out match in ROH, and not the Homicide match at MER, as is commonly supposed.

Manhatten Mayhem 2...fuck my memories' rotten. I'm sure I wrote a review of it - I'll to dig it out and see whether I enjoyed the show or not!!!

I've put the list into chronological order. Because I'm a geek. Also, if the list is subject to debate, it makes it easier to keep track of what's in and what isn't. Anyone other than myself and DDD got any thoughts? Shows we've forgotten, etc?

In terms of hyped shows, I remember really liking Reborn: Stage 2 - but I'm not sure that it'd be that good if I watched it back now. It had Punk and Cabana defeating the Briscoes (with no commentary) in the main event, plus the first Danielson vs Homicide match, and Nigel vs Rave vs Romero vs Aries, from way back before GenNext had even formed. Then there's the GenNext show itself... in fact, I remember really liking plenty of the big shows from '04. Not sure if the entire cards would be up to par now, though...

Apparently I enjoyed Manhatten Mayhem 2! Substitue that for Glory by Honor 3 then in the list.

I'm trying to compile a list of my favourite 150 ROH matches - another fanboy list for people to chew over. Might take a while though

According to something I read today the Dragon Gate boys won't be coming over for Wrestlemania weekend, on the grounds that Pearce doesn't get on with the Dragon Gate office apparently. :(:( I'm sure I;ve said this before, but ROH seems to parraleling ECW in the sense by the time ECW started growing in terms of PPV, TV and running more markets, creatively they were a spent force. A quote from Raven keeps pooping into my mind when I think about this TV deal - referring to the TNN deal : "Paul E used to complain that the network were fucking him around with scheduling. It didn't matter what time the show was on, the storylines sucked." [ie people weren't watching because the product was crap].

Fast forward to ROH's 2009 TV deal...the product's on its arse at the moment, doesn't look like picking up any time soon - this really is the worse timing for a TV deal.

One last thing - Bison Smith - just a big guy, nothing special. Sorry gents - he just 'aint got it.

I've seen 11 of those 130 matches live and in person :) Good times...

A few that spring to mind that I'd add...

Low Ki vs Christopher Daniels vs Spanky vs Doug Williams (Crowning a Champion)

American Dragon vs Paul London (Night of the Butcher)

Doug Williams vs Christopher Daniels (Night of Champions)

Alex Shelley vs Jimmy Jacobs (Joe vs Punk 2 - I Quit match)

Spanky vs James Gibson (3YAC night 2)

Samoa Joe vs Jay Lethal (Manhattan Mayhem)

Generation Next vs The Embassy (Steel Cage Warfare)

Kevin Steen and El Generico vs Mike Quackenbush and Jigsaw (Domination)

Bryan Danielson vs Go Shiosaki (Live in Tokyo)

Austin Aries vs Go Shiosaki (6th Anniversary show)

Bryan Danielson vs Claudio Castagnoli (Northern Navigation)

A few other things I want to comment on...

-Some of the 2003 matches aren't in chronological order. The show order should go 1YA, Night of Champions, Epic Encounter, RRC2, FOH, Night of Grudges, DBD, then from Bitter Friends... the order is fine

-Ki vs Barker from FOH? Really? If I had to pick one match from that show from a historical standpoint, I'd go for Joe/Zebra and the birth of the Ole kick. Ki/Flash did nothing for me live or on tape.

-Danielson vs Aries from the Cow Palace is the one I preferred out of that best of three, nice choice

-Two matches that I just never got the love for would be Briscoes vs Punk and Cabana 2/3 falls from DBD2 night 1, and Gobson/Cabana from Dragon Gate Invasion.
